The appliance dolly we ordered was not in our truck. Had to drive to a different location to pick it up. That put more miles on the truck that cost me more money. The car lot office was supposed to open at 12. No one was there. Truck was sitting on a patch of ice making it dicey to climb in and out of truck to do paperwork. We wasted over an hour getting the truck. Would NEVER go to that location or any other location that wasn't an actual uhaul location. Not sure I would ever use Uhaul again and would NOT recommend UHaul to othersDeborah G.

Go elsewhere to pick up a UHaul rental. This location is sketchy to say the least. Plus the rental is located behind the "Castle" club, which is a very non desirable place of business, which has continued to be a sore spot in the city of Scranton. The lock box is located further away from where you pickup/drop off rental, so at night its a bit scary & eerie. Just use the next closest UHaul rental pickup/drop off, but NOT this one.KIMBERLY R.
First off, have someone physically available to speak with when issues arise. Such as not being able to get into a lock box for 2 and half hours. If someone was physically there they could ID who the person thats picking up the key is and not having to go through this ridiculous check in process. Have some one present!!!!! Talking with a machine and calling phone numbers where people don't answer is not help. This was a horrible experience. I will be writing an in depth review on Google, yelp, and any and every site I find. This process should not be this complicated!Juan M.
Make it easier to pick up the truck and have the rented equipment on truck,so customer doesn't have to go to another location. I wound up 3 hours behind due to:no one on site to help solve my problems. I prepaid for everything, but couldn't get my rental. Called service number and wound up going through the whole rental process and payment process again!! Then I had to go through taking pictures and documenting truck's scratches and condition prior to being able to take the rental. If my daughter hadn't been with me, I could not have been able to get my rental due to all the online procedures to get my rental!! It would have been impossible to get my rental without her help, because I am not very tech savvy. To top this whole ordeal, the driver's window was left open 3â€ or so, it had rained the night before and was raining when I went to pick up the truck, so the whole time I drove the truck I had a wet rear end (butt)!! I was totally disgusted with the whole rental experience!! I doubt that I will rent from u-haul AGAIN!!Byron G.
I wasn't expecting this location to be nothing more than a shack that I had to complete my return online and leave the keys in a box. Also because it was a one way rental no lock came with it. I had to leave the dolly and furniture pads in the back of an unlocked truck that anyone could steal and be possibly held accountable for???? Not cool Uhaul.Elaine R.

I got to the pick-up location in Scranton about 1220. With a posted opening time of noon, the door was locked. I asked a passerby if he know the situation. He knew and call the agent, Chris, who came about 5 minutes later. He said he â€œhad just got the text about the pick-up.â€ An hour into our time with Chris, he had established two facts: 1. He had a 15 foot truck but no key and was unable to contact anyone who knew the key's whereabouts. 2. The only other truck he had was a 10 footer. We only determined these when I inadvertently signed out for the 10 foot truck (it never occurred to me that he would rent me a truck other than on the one I reserved) and I questioned why he took us (my parents, who were my moving crew) to a 10 foot truck. He showed the order he has just gotten for a 10 footer, and I showed him my confirmation for the 15 footer. Twice in that hour of research he reported on the phone that â€œShe signed out the 10 foot truck but doesn't want it. She wants a 15 footer.â€ Twice my father asked him to reword his statement because it sounded like I arbitrarily changed my mind. Twice he re-reported that she reserved a 15 foot truck. It seemed like taking responsibility for the mistake was too hard. Toward the end of the hour he was on the phone with a reservation agent with area-wide visibility. The agent reported that a 15 footer was available not far away, but we determined that it was ~90 minute round trip, not including processing and sign-out time. As we approached the one and half hours with Chris, my father got on the line with the U-Haul reservation agent. My father declined the alternate location because our timeline to move out of the Scranton apartment didn't have what would be closer to 2 more hours to spare. The agent said she would credit my credit card $50 because of not meeting the guarantee of having the reserved truck for us. My father asked for more consideration because (a) we have to rework much of our moving plan, and (b) $50 amounted to less than 10% of the total cost of renting the truck. She said did not have the authority to override corporate policy. My father asked to speak to someone who did, so she sent him to the â€œpush 1 for reservations, push 2 for customer serviceâ€ queue. After waiting on hold for about 8 minutes, my father hung up. We simple didn't have the time to spare. I know you have some weather problems in PA the day before, but of the ~1.5 hours with Chris at least half of his and my time was spend on hold with U-Haul agents somewhere. I was told that I would be credited $50 because U-haul could not fulfill the guarantee, but after waiting almost two weeks, I had to contact customer service again for the refund. Because I had a smaller truck that I planned for, I had to take a second trip for part of my move and used nearly all of the refund paying for the extra gas. Related but less important is that my driver later realized that the 10 foot truck hadn't been cleaned. In the cab was (a)Gregory M.

I had a 10am reservation. Upon arrival, door was locked, open sign was on the door yet no one was around. I located construction workers which knew the owner number. I spoke with the owner which stated there was no truck available and was sent to another location and check back with him in an hour. I went to the other location as advised and no trucks were available. The uhaul reprentative called this owner denied speaking with me and was hung up on. I called as well and was told to come back in 15-20 mins and hung up onas well. The owner finally showed and I was given amother truck which put me back and hour and a half behind schedule. No call, no email, not even someone at that location to tell me there was an issue with my reservation. I would not recommend anyone to this uhaul dealer.Sandi H.

Clean vechiles so that you could see out the windshield. My truck was so dirty that I had to wash the Windows myself before I could drive it on my trip. I would prefer to deal with the Uhaul store on 7th Avenue Scranton,PA.Carol C.
1st off we went to a place waited over an hour to try and get a truck for us to be told that they were busy we made a online pick up time called the 1800 number she said sorry I'll Give u 50$ but u have to go across town to pick up a deff truck the whole time I have my kids waiting with sitter I am very upset this was by far some of the worest things I had to go threw to get a truck I'll pay more to avoid experience anything else like this ever againJessica D.

The person handling the rental was very nice, but did not seem to know what he was doing. It took approx.45 minutes to pick up the rental and the location for pickup was not the best. I will request to pick up at 7th Ave. location in the future.Kathleen W.

It's a used car lot. I missed it twice driving past. The sign for it is very small. There's nothing there except a used car lot, a small office that's the size of the old photo huts. But since this location was well within a comfortable walking distance to my destination point, it worked out well.David B.

I ordered a truck a week in advance. I get a phone call the day before saying that I can't pick it up at the nearest place which was less than 5 minutes away and opens up at 8:30am. The place I was told to pick it up at was 30 min away and didn't open until 10am. I was told that i would get some mileage from it. I only got 15 miles when clearly the distance I was driving to pick it up was 30 miles away!!! I took the first available appointment at 10am. I show up 15 min early and wait. Nobody was around even when the sign states that it opens up at 10am. I had to call all 3 of the numbers listed on the door a few times. I even left messages and after calling again and again, someone finally answers to tell me that he is 15 minutes away. I have a 2hr 30 minute drive ahead of me and I still need to load the truck up and because of this, I was behind. Finally, the guy shows and asks for my DL and credit/debit card. He takes his time and tries to make a copy of my information and tries to fax it only to stand there for 15 minutes and get a busy signal. During this, another guy walks in to see the keys to a car he was looking at. Instead of asking him to wait until he is finished, he helps the guys out. He never apologized for being late and never compensated me for the horrible service I received. There will be no next customer if this service keeps up. When I went to drop off the truck the person inside said "the person who does the uhauls isn't here." He called the person I needed who told me just to leave the truck.
