Andrea JThis location was fine but my overall experience was pretty bad. I wanted a 20 ft U-Haul. Was told by the website I needed to book a 15 foot. Days before was called and told I needed to use a 10 ft or drive hours away for a 15 ft. Picked up the ten foot, had major problems with the wevsite and had to drive double the kms and make two runs due to the size of the truck. Overall not great

Todd JTransmission/accelerator issue. Probably wasn’t safe to drive. Truck would lock while in reverse and had to slam on brakes and/or put it into park to prevent it from crashing into our deck. One mirror was broken at time of pickup too. Will go with different option in the future.

Dorrie WThe booking was done incorrectly, so I was being charged incorrectly for over mileage. The representative could not do anything for me, so I had to call U-Haul directly. Then I waited on hold to speak to somebody who couldn’t help me, who, then transferred me to somebody else Who I had to wait on hold for as well. It was a blind transfer so I had to explain everything all again. Then I got transferred again and sat on hold for a third time on another blind transfer. The third person finally fixed the issue, which was someone had entered the mileage in incorrectly at time of pickup. It was not an impressive experience at all. I would not recommend U-Haul.
Rodney PI rented a 10 foot truck for a one way trip. I got ‘upgraded’ to a 15 foot due to availability which was fine but the rate for a one way trip was 3 times as much as it was for a return to the same location. I moved a 3 hour drive away from the pick up location. It is unfair and usurious to penalize someone who’s moving a fair drive away and who is not able to return a truck to the same location. As a large international company with a giant fleet of trucks you cannot possibly be so lacking in vehicles that you need to gouge people for one way travel.
Candece JReduce late fees and give more generous mileages for cross-country trips! We had to take detours to get to our destination (because of the fires) and that put us over our given mileage, and getting passage on the ferry was super difficult , so we had to pay over $200 extra!

Kelsey LThere was initially some confusion as to where to drop the truck off at. I called ahead and talked to the location operator at 1049 McPhee Ave in Courtenay, Robert, and he said it would be fine to drop off the truck there. Then due to some bad fortune, when I arrived Robert was still on his lunch break so it was a 25 minute wait or so until he got back. Robert was very polite throughout the entire process. And then things hit a rough patch when someone mentioning that he was the president of the Vancouver Island U-Haul division, Teddy, called the office and asked Robert to put me on the phone. There was a heated exchange as Teddy said I had to now drive the truck to another location in Courtenay or I would be charged an extra $500 on my bill for not taking it to the exact location that was on my signed U-Haul contract (which I didn't have a copy of, but he said was emailed to me). I mentioned that Reyna, the operator where I picked the truck up from in Surrey, said any location in Courtenay would be fine to return it to. I told him that I had talked to U-Haul customer reps Shreya and Gurnell over the phone, and that when they confirmed with Robert that it was okay to leave the truck there they agreed that leaving it there would be fine. But he replied that it was his decision where to leave the truck and I was to take it to the Performance Rentals location on the North Island Hwy. location in Courtenay. He mentioned that they weren't managers and he was. So I talked to Bill at the location it was to be dropped off at and at this point Bill worked everything out. I had mentioned that I was behind schedule catching a ferry due to the length of time it took dropping off the truck, so he sent one of his staff, Glen, out to personally pick up the truck, which I felt was going above and beyond with good customer service. I also noticed that I was given a 100% refund on my bill, and would like to thank Bill for adjusting the amount if he was the one who gave the refund (I'll give U-Haul a call to verify this). If anyone is having an issue picking up or dropping off a truck in Courtenay I would recommend they call Bill at his location.

Jade KReally disgusting store and felt uncomfortable. Owner was nice and did his best to help, yet it was not an ideal pickup location. I also requested a pickup location in Vancouver (near my house) and there was nothing available and I had no choice but to travel and spend a lot of unnecessary money to pickup my truck.
Josh MService was friendly and helpful however somehow the agent changed my rental to a 24 hour one when I booked a 48 hour rental. Left us having to hurry our move as uhaul in Nanaimo wanted it back by 5pm the day after we rented it.
Debra GDrop off location staff is friendly. BUT Uhaul hotline wasn't helpful and expected me to drop off at another city. I have to drive to another city to drop off the truck and got charged for extra milage even though there is a local uhaul dealership. Wasted my time and money to drop off.

Lornce Aonly game in town . convenient location signage could be better . Dropped the rental off on a Sunday which they were closed. parked the rental ,dropped the keys and contact in the box . Skipped the return app drop off thang as i couldn't get it to work on my android , pretty frustrating . Otherwise everything worked out well, truck worked well ,no complaints . Well done UHaul nice to see a company with integrity and detail to customer service.

Arlene MThe location wasn’t even open for my drop off date (I dropped it off early and returned it with the exact fuel and find out I’m charged an extra $40! the app wasn’t working so I couldn’t upload photos or anything.. they said gas was 5/8 but I have a photo of it time stamped at 11am at 3/4 and then I still put $15 in! I’m incredibly unimpressed and would not recommend uhaul to anyone

Was informed at pick up to deliver to different place. Then told no by drop off. Had to phone a few times to verify drop off. This was a waste of my gas and time.

rob mThe personal were very receptive and fast. I was initially scheduled to 157 N Island Highway and they turned me away because they didn't have space. I then was rebooked to 2510 Comox Logging Road and the location did not match where my GPS sent me and I spent 20 min on the phone trying to find the location with someone from Uhaul. I then was rebooked to this location. Once I returned the truck I was unfairly charged an extra day rate because it took be two hours to drop off the truck. I should not have had to call AGAIN to get a refund for this charge. Unsatisfied with the UHAUL customer experience.
Tlell BYou guys charged us $180 instead of $60 upon pickup. I will be calling to rectify this as soon as I have cellphone reception. On top of that you sent us to 2 separate rental places that were either closed or did not rent u haul equipment. This put us hours behind schedule and as we needed to move off of a small island ended up costing me almost $500 in extra expenses including needing to get a hotel and pay my movers for extra hours. Seriously the worst move I have ever had. This has nothing to do with the pick up facility and everything to do with your company not knowing where your own equipment is. Not impressed at all. If it wasn't for the Landlord of the pickup facility going the extra mile we would have been completely stuck.

Michael PThe worst nightmare trying to find the spot I was originally supposed to pick up, a bigger truck, wasted 2 hours of my moving day and a quarter tank of gas driving around looking for a location on logging road. Very disappointed. Uhauk could have sent me a more specific email as well, I had 2 emails with 2 different locations very confusing.
raeanne c- 24/7 pick up was not ready as promised - I was given 3 different addresses when it came to the pick up spot - Pick up took 30 minutes - The gas gauge was misrepresented on the contract by an eighth of a tank
