the issue is with the app rather than the location itself. I had called UHaul directly on May 25 to get help with booking a truck. Steven was very helpful and confirmed that there was one last 10ft box truck available at Ronkonkoma. I was emailed a confirmation. Two days before my scheduled moving date, I checked the app as he suggested and found out that the truck I had clearly reserved was no longer available. Instead, my pickup location was changed to a further location, half an hour away from my original location. Meanwhile when I did a new search on the app, my desired truck was available at a third location that was closer than what the app directed me to. When UHaul called me the day before to confirm everything, I inquired about this. Natalie was extremely helpful and accommodating. She was able to change my pickup location to the closer place, even though it wasn't my original preference. She called me back when there was an issue with the pick-up time (I had originally scheduled it at 10am but the new pick-up location wasn't open until 10:30, and the place kindly agreed to help me at the earlier time). The physical locations and uhaul were great, along with the staff, but the app itself is so frustrating I would not recommend it at all.

RICHARD FStarting the truck was not good. The key didn’t work every time you start it, you had to wiggle the key and it takes sometimes almost 10 minutes. The truck had engine light on but I was told it was not on issue. I took it only because there was no other option.

Stacey DThis is a general comment on U-Haul, not on this location. When I picked up the truck and started driving the gas gauge dipped by about a quarter of a tank within a quarter of a mile. Of course, the same thing happened when I filled it on return, so had to pay a fuel penalty. If U-Haul is going to charge for gas, the gauges should be more precise. This is a classic issue with big tanks and older trucks.

When I’ve returned the truck, the Afternoon employee was pretty rude and wanted to overcharge me even though it was for 24 hours rental and I returned in 3:45 minutes. Just gotta watch out the details when you rent a truck.

I was very displeased with this location and will be writing reviews to warn others of his tricks. Will never use this place again.

CHRISTOPHER MThe truck was basic and it was clean. However the tires were a concern. I had a light come and a message saying that tire maintenance on tires was needed from the moment I got into truck. I brought it to a gas station to add air to tires, followed the directions to fill it accurately . After put air into tires the light did not go off. I returned to the pickup location and asked for another vehicle. they said there was no other vehicles available. I was concerned I would have an issue with the truck with the delivery we needed to make. I brought the truck back immediately and luckily I did not experience a flat tire or blowout issue on the 40 mile trip. In the future I will be sure to insist on a different care when lights come on the dashboard of a rented car. A different car should have been offered and given to me , that was not the case.

NICHOLAS PWe were supposed to do a self-check in using the UHaul app, but U-Haul did not prepare the vehicle properly in advance and so we were delayed 40 minutes waiting to check-in at the rental location (which also opened 15 minutes past its opening time), which is super disappointing for us and cost us precious moving time.

SUSANA MEasy drop off, went in and told them I was dropping off a trailer. They asked if there was any problems with it and if I had any troubles. Then told me to drop it off around back and there was someone waiting around the building to guide me to where they wanted it placed. Got the message about 2 minutes after leaving that it was returned and everything worked out smooth.
