I am not in the practice of leaving bad reviews but my experience with picking up the Uhaul truck that I was renting to move my daughter to college was so awful that I have to let you know about it. I start my search on your website and call a Uhaul dealer. That dealer can't help me but states that she sees on your site that a truck is available for when I need it at a location not far from them. That place was the Plaza Convenience Store. I cannot believe that the Plaza Convenience Store has been inspected by Uhaul to be somewhere that you would have your customers go to pick up a truck. My 21-year-old daughter and I pull into the parking lot for the pickup and already my daughter states "are you sure this is the right place". I pull up my email and check the location name again and indeed it is the correct place. The place is a run down convenience store in a not great part of town. While in the store, a man clearly on drugs, and unhoused tries to sell me some sneakers that he was holding up. My daughter and I waited patiently to check out our rental. There was only one person working in the store whom was a pleasant woman but she was extremely slow. She grabbed a device when she saw us walk in because I am sure after seeing us she knew that we were there for a Uhaul rental because I know for a fact, we didn't fit the mold of other customers that entered the store. She started to help us but then stopped to help the woman who was there buying lotto tickets. The woman purchasing the tickets starts screaming at her and she is trying to do everything to keep her calm and finish her transaction so that she can leave. In the meantime while that is happening, a man walks into the store with a bat hanging out of his pocket. The hairs are up on the back of our necks and we are super aware of our surroundings. The cashier comes back to us for our rental, but a line starts to form. She stops helping us again to check out customers. She goes back and forth with a man before he slides his one dollar and change on the counter right beside me for her to hand him two loose cigarettes. She checks out the man with a bat in his pocket. Another man dressed in a long sleeve black shirt and long sleeve pants (It's 97 degrees outside) walks into the store. He is clearly just walking around and not getting anything to purchase. He goes to the back of the store and is there for a while and out of nowhere you hear a woman yelling "What the fuck are you doing?" He then walks out of the store. However, as he was walking out of the store, he looks at my daughter and I and said "You two aren't going to make it out of here." We didn't acknowledge his comment or say anything in response to him. Our nerves are so fried at this entire process. The cashier finally gets back to us to check us out. When the text is sent to my phone, the link doesn't open while I'm inside the store. She says that I will have to step outside for the link to pop up. My daughter and I go outside to get the link to work. As we step outside there is the man with the bat in his pocket that keeps looking over at us and the man in all black starts walking down the sidewalk towards us. Neither speak to us thank goodness. We go back in the store to get everything finalized. It is time to pay for the rental. I used the same card that was used to reserve the rental. When I tapped to pay my card was denied. I believe that Citibank knew that this place wasn't anywhere I would usually be and thought that someone may have stolen my number. I had to let them know that it was in fact me and the transaction was allowed to go through. Finally time to get the keys. The man in black has again returned to the store and he is just walking around, not purchasing anything just looking at us. The cashier even says "Sir, can I help you with something?" He doesn't answer just walks around. The woman who screamed from the back earlier comes up behind us. She is disheveled and clearly on something. She walks out of the store and my daughter looked on the stores security cameras and saw her walk over to where the Uhaul trucks were located before she walks back in. (When we first pulled into the parking lot, there was a man sitting in between the Uhaul trucks on the curb) The cashier tells her to not put her money into the gambling machine because she has to lock the store so that she can go with us to the truck. The cashier asks us to wait outside for her as she checks this woman out and another homeless looking man that just walked into the store. My daughter and I stand in the parking lot to wait for the cashier to come. The man with the bat is still there looking, as well as the man in the black who stated, "You two aren't going to make it out of here." She finally comes and starts the truck and pulls it out some. She says to take photos of all sides of the truck. The two of us walk to the back of the truck and the truck door is open. There are vapes, beer bottles, and what appeared to be dirty underwear inside of the truck. The woman says "we keep locks on the truck but they always seem to figure out how to get it off." She gets the beer bottle out and the dirty underwear. She offers to go back in the store to get a broom to sweep out the vape and a few other items but at this point I've had it and I'm just ready to get away from this place. This is a side of town that I have never visited and I certainly wouldn't expect a national company like Uhaul to have me over there. My Citibank card knew to decline a transaction at such a place but you all at Uhaul had me over there. My daughter and I were so unnerved by the entire situation. As a national company I would have never expected that you would have your customers pick up trucks in such a bad location. I had to pay $275.28 to you for the truck. This was one of the scariest experiences I have had. My system was on fight or flight response the entire time there. I don't think you have sent anyone to inspect this place that you have affliated yourself with. If you have sent someone for inspection, then you should be very ashamed of yourselves for having your customers be subjected to a place like Plaza Convenience Store. It is an unforgivable offense. I absolutely want someone from corporate to contact me about this.

There were many homeless people within the lot and I felt very unsafe. Individuals had pulled up as well.
ALEJANDRO KBad location, alot of panhandlers, people are laid out in the driveway on drugs which is not ideal for business let alone it was extremely difficult for me to understand the ladies accent that completed the order and the line, she was the only employee working and often I had to step out of line so other customers could pay for there items while she was assisting me. KHADIJAH LPoor lighting in the dark, no signage that I noticed indicating it was affiliated with U-Haul, in a less desirable part of town, some homeless people wouldn’t let me alone when I was trying to complete the return process
