Location wad Ok fir what it was, at a gas station. The attendant was nice and helpful. However, the truck leaked terribly all over our wood bedroom set and mattresses ! I thoght when you rent an enclosed truck or trailer, it would be water proof and not leak all over our furniture ! Now I hesitate renting from another uhaul for the next part of my move in a week from now.Linda M.

Customer service was a low priority. Even though we used the online check-in, we had to wait half an hour before being helped, and even then, we had to ask for service. We kept getting interrupted by other customers,as this was a busy location. When we spoke up, we were informed that "Shell customers come first, then U-Haul customers." The employee then replied to "Go ahead" when we said we would let U-Haul know how we kept getting delayed.James R.

Do not use this location unless it's during their normal business hours and do not plan to drop off a 24 hour rental. You have to have a code to a padlock on a black box on a pole. If you are told this is a 24 hour drop off, don't use this location. We were told by the Silverton Road location that this was a 24 hour drop off. I asked the question numerous times and was told each time that yes this is a 24 hour drop off location.We spent an hour on Portland Road in Salem Oregon at 9 o'clock on a Saturday night trying to get a hold of Uhual to get this code to return the key. If you live in the area you know this is not an area you want to spend an hour in a dark parking lot.Jeramy V.

U-Haul is obviously not the main business of this gas station. I had to wait to pick up the truck while the lone attendant sold gas to customers. There was further delay once he finally logged onto the computer in a tiny office. The truck did not contain the furniture pads that I ordered. I was sent to another U-Haul location at Silverton Road and Fischer Road in Salem. There, I found several other customers milling around inside the store but there was no service person anywhere to be found so finally after roaming the store for a while, I left and we had to get the furniture pads from the 12th Street U-Haul store in Salem OR. This whole process delayed our moving process by about an hour, on moving day.James L.
When I talked to customer service about pick up and drop off, they said the key is by the door, as well as the return box. When I couldn't find it, the staff at the gas station were less than helpful. Well, the cash register attendant was helpful, by radioing the other man to come help, but that man decided to leave me in the cold for 20 minutes, until I approached him to ask for help. He seemed less than enthused to be dealing with me. Luckily I remembered the code to the lock box, and ended up putting the key back there. Though I took a video of me doing it, just to protect myself in case that was incorrect. On top of terrible service, none of the equipment I ordered was in the truck. I waited just as long to get the attention of the attendant, to find out they only have a basic dolly, when I ordered multiple kinds. Save time, go to a Uhaul location with actual people working, who know what they're doing. I made a reservation online and you told me the equipment would be there along with a $50 guarantee. The equipment was not there but we did not have the choice to not move, I was forced to pick up a smaller truck and could not move my couch and several other items for lack of room and those items were lost. When I called in for the $50 guarantee I was told that it would not be honored because I changed my reservation, two full days before the move, and regardless of that you had plenty of notice and still guaranteed the equipment would be there. You really gave me the impression that you were weaseling out of your guarantee simply because you were able to. You cost me furniture, I am waiting for you to call back and make this right since you have offered no resolution to this situation. I will keep calling back and if you refuse to do anything I will be tell everybody I know not to use you because you cause Moving Day catastrophes and can't guarantee your equipment. I will also charge back this charge since you did not give me what I reserved and I was trick using a bait and switch to check out a truck that I did not want.Michael S.

The car dolly that I was issued was defective. the right turning light was not working....no one checked before I left. Later I had to stop at a UHaul in Woodburn and it took two hours before I could leave again. I will be registering a formal complaint because that was not the only problem I had with my registration which had several blunders. Even though I had ordered 92 blankets, an appliance dolly, and a truck, I was only able to get the truck at this location. This location didn't have any boxes either. As I drove off the lot I found that the muffler heat shield was broken. It was obvious that the Portland Rd location didn't have the ability to fix any problems. I took the truck to the Silverton Road U-Haul. They were able to fix the heat shield, get me moving blankets and an appliance dolly.Al L.

The pick up of equipment was excellent and the equipment itself was great. I wish I remembered names as the guy checking me out and the guy hooking up the trailer were both awesome. I checked out at 11am on a Saturday. If it all went good from here I would have given a top rating in my review. However, when I returned the equipment at 10:45 am the next morning I asked to be checked out because it was so close to the 24 hr mark. The attendant claimed to be too busy to check me out but he promised that he would put in the actual return time. Well, he lied to me. I got an email 3 hours later that said the trailer was returned at 1:35 pm and that I was being charged for a second day. After a long call to u-haul customer service where I was on hold for a half hour, I explained the situation. They tried to call the location and they did not answer. They escalated the claim and I'll see if I get refunded. While I might get reimbursed for the extra day charge that I didn't use, I won't get back my time being on hold. I would rent from uhaul again because the checkout experience was good as was the trailer. But do not let them delay your check in or you might be wrongfully charged for a second day.David W.

A simple wipe down of reflective branding/stickers and reflectors/lights would make a good bit of difference. Prior to drop off, i took 15 -20 min. to wipe off all lighting, reflective stickers, reflectors, and wheels. I left it in much better shape than received and in nice shape for the next renter. I had requested the 2" ball hitch device for the trailer which was not at the pickup location upon arrival. Assumed it was included in the rental. I was directed to a nearby location to pick up one, and then found out it was a $24.99 purchase. Then back to the original location. Added about 90 minutes.Brian F.

I initially had a reservation at another location at Marketstreet (please see your records). When I showed up there they had mo knowledge of my reservation, had no tow dolly on site (according to them) and couldn't/wouldn't help me. I had to call 3 times to have my reservation changed to the Portland RD location. Over there they helped me fine but needles to say I'm not happy with the Market st location and the U-Haul reservation system as a whole. I finally left Salem 1 hr late and because of that I hit rush hr, something I had tried to prevent by leaving earlier. All in all, bad experience with U-Haul and I seriously don't understand why you keep stations like the one on Market st open if they refuse to support the U-Haul experience, if I owned U-Haul I'd get rid of them.JACOB B.

The guy said the computer wouldn't allow him to choose a one day rental so I had to pay for two days but he assured me I'd get a refund of half my money back $336 total when I returned the trailer within 24 hours. I returned the trailer well within 24 hours and they would not refund my money. I called the 800 number and was forwarded to the regional manager and he said he would refund $20 that was over two weeks ago and still nothing. I will never rent U-Haul again.Bonnie H.
5x8 uhual trailer was not attached properly by employee. Make sure employees fully trained and know what they are doing. I went to a different uhual location to have a different employee ensure proper attachment of cargo trailer to vehicle. Trailer was damp inside when picked up.
