The staff at Portland Street Auto & Body are excellent. Pickup was fast, efficient, and friendly. I dropped off after hours but there was an off duty employee on site who unhitched the trailer for me. I could not have hoped for a better experience.

DANIELLE MIt took 30 minutes and 2 calls to U-Haul support to pick up my rental. First it would not let me start the check in process and made me reenter my details 3 times (even though I completed the pre check in) and then it kept telling me I hadn’t uploaded photos when I had.
CHARLOTTE WClearly the software used by Uhaul needs some serious work. I don't know if it was the workstation or the network service but it took over a half hour for her to get through the process to rent the vehicle. The delays between screen updates were incredible. NO BUENO!

EDWARD NWe were told the gas tank was “full” (The gauge looked to be “full”), and upon returning it, we need to fill the tank.There was a gas station <1000 ft from the dealer. We drove 29 miles. When we filled it, it required 6 gallons. Either the tank was NOT full at pickup, or the truck got 4 miles per gallon. The U-Haul dealer dismissed it as “oh well” and sent us on our way. Lost me on that one.
THOMAS CThe rating is due to the fact that my preferred pick up location was 5 miles away. At the last minute I was told that I had to drive over an hour away to get my equipment and they had no way to accommodate me otherwise. The person at the pick up spot was nice and helpful.
BRADFORD WThe tires were all underinflated, I took pictures of the dashboard readout when I picked up the van, and when I returned it, it shows the tire pressure.

RICHARD MThe lady in the office was so rude. For some reason she had a chip on her shoulder as soon as we entered the building. That was a huge red flag to me.I should have followed my instincts and turned myself around and left. This was an emergency move so I didn’t have a choice. The 10ft box truck was clean inside but outside was a scratch and dent show. The inside of the truck was filled with water. The outside had dents and scratches all over it. The truck took forever to start each we powered it up. We didn’t think it was going to start most of the time. The box truck was also leaking something. On one good note the man working gave us a wood pallet so our items wouldn’t get wet. I definitely would not recommend the Bridgton Maine U haul. I could have delt with all the other stuff if the office lady wasn’t so grumpy.

Cody AAn error was made with my trailer reservation, but they rectified the error well. Kudos. The dual axle, RV style, enclosed trailer tongue is ridiculously heavy. Those trailers should have a tongue jack like on boat trailers. I had to use a jack to raise the tongue off my trailer hitch!
ALAN BOffice was small but lady running things and employees were all super nice. Would recommend.

Laurie DThe process of getting a convenient drop off location was a bad experience but the nice people at the Bridgton location made it happen for us. Uhaul wanted us to return the trailer 45 miles away, but we were in Bridgton and that was not possible. If it hadn't been for the Uhaul in Bridgton, we would have cancelled.

Marcy DSelf Checkin/Checkout was a nightmare and would never recommend this - I added 2 drivers with license and phone number as requested - I was not told ahead and the website did not state this, that all drivers needed to be there for pick up. The Geolocator app for check in did now work- had to call the 800 number several times. The truck was filthy inside and out- it looked like someone had just gone mudding. If you are renting equipment someone should be at the location to assist.

LAURIE TThe location was closed (no big deal) but signs were confusing about where to park the truck. There are many signs on the property about where NOT to park but nothing stating where to park. I took a guess, drove up the long driveway, and parked near other trucks. There were two signs up there "No trespassing" "We own firearms and a backhoe" which were not comforting for a young woman out there by herself. Walked down the long driveway back to the main garage to return the keys and saw the sign to go on the internet and start the return process UGH. walked back down the long driveway, and did the in-app stuff. I was told I would have to pay extra for going over the mileage (even though someone called me and asked me to bring it to Bridgton instead of the closer Uhaul in Standish). In summary- the signage on-site should be clearer and not as threatening for after-hours returns. And I need some assurance I am not going to be charged for the extra miles I was asked to drive.

LARRY MNo furniture pads as ordered were provided. No one was around to assist. Back door was frozen shut and it took almost 10 minutes to get it open. Verification process was not smooth. Not a fan of self check in. Unhappy with new rental pickup location. Truck tire had nail and screw in it and we needed to call for service.
Candice PReservation made for a 20’ truck and confirmed! 24 hours before pickup was told 20’ not available but 26’ available 15 miles away and I would have to pay milage charge both ways ($1.09 x 30 miles= $32.70). Eventually was able to rent a 10’ truck not what I needed or reserved!!! If this is normal U-haul procedure I will not be renting from U-haul again.
