I chose u-haul because it has always been the most affordable but now I know that in the economy we live in today it doesn’t come without some sacrifices. The first issue was regardless of reserving a truck a month in advance, it was not available on my move date. They changed my pick up location as well and you would think they would change it to a pick up location that had the size truck I reserved but they did not. We picked up a larger truck (26’ )that was offered instead of what I reserved, but it was much much more difficult to maneuver and not convenient. Also, When I picked up the truck it was empty and almost stalled out as we pulled into the gas station. ( the size of the truck swayed back-and-forth as the driver pulled into the gas station and it began to sputter. when he pushed the gas pedal to keep it from dying it then lurched forward as we’re trying to pull into a tight space where there’s multiple cars in the station. The point is, It was that low on gas!! And that was three blocks from where we picked it up.) I would’ve expected U-Haul to have put something in the gas tank instead of letting it go out of the lot on FUMES. I was told I would get a $46 credit for leaving it a quarter tank full when I reached my destination but I thought it was inconsiderate and rude and at the very least inconvenient. but I had bigger things on my mind. When we pulled up to the station, gas was $4.98 per gallon. Can’t be too picky when you’re running on fumes. the truck was so big You can’t really maneuver it in city traffic. Did I mention we were also pulling a car dolly? it was one inconvenience after another. On site staff at U-Haul is simply completing a sale and there is not staff to validate and verify the truck is ready. when I got to the house to start loading the truck U-Haul did not put the moving blankets in the truck that were also reserved on my order with the truck and tow dolly. When I called them about the blankets, I was compensated a whole five dollars, the cost of the six blankets, and nothing for the inconvenience or the supplies that it took to wrap my furniture with cellophane and cardboard. When I arrived to my destination, 270 miles away, the self drop off might have been convenient to some, but I was dependent on an app on my phone with no charger, and my phone was about to die . There was no staff to receive the truck and again it was upon myself to do the checkout process. Everything nowadays is self service, online or with an app which is fine if you’re experienced and you don’t have an issue, but if you don’t know what to do… with U-Haul you’re left to find your own answers and solve your own problems. At this point I was hot, tired and just trying to finish the job but now I’m in phase two of the move, and working with storage facilities with U-haul. Since I had ordered a one-way truck, I was offered a one month free storage at my destination. This was a sh*t show in itself. with a 26’ truck and a tow dolly behind it, at the storage site, we were left to try to maneuver around parked U-Haul trucks that were blocking the lanes. We were barely able to get around the first parked U-Haul truck and the storage building, but the second parked truck that was parked against the building prevented us from getting to the exit without a four point turn and a tow dolly. Again, there was not any staff at the storage facility, to move the parked trucks and we were left to solve our own problem . Might I add the person I rented the unit from was made aware of the parked trucks and still did not move them . He was very curt and matter of fact about the issue and showed no compassion or concern for the inconvenience . His response was that he has “told people repeatedly not to leave trucks there, but they don’t listen.” So this is not an unknown problem or a brand new issue. U-Haul does not have the staff to provide the basic service to their customers on site. They have a phenomenal sales staff that is fairly knowledgeable, and ready to make the reservation in the sale, but I was not informed that I needed to stop at an offsite office, 4 miles away, to finish my reservation and get my key card. These things make a huge difference when you’re pulling such a large truck and a tow dolly and you’re trying to maneuver in traffic. For the most part my 270 mile move went fairly smooth and ANY problems that I had were issues that I had to accommodate because U-Haul didn’t come through for me at all. MOVING IS A LOT OF WORK AND CAN BE VERY STRESSFUL. IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE U-HAUL. I HOPE YOU HAVE A BETTER EXPERIENCE THAN I DID.

Miguel GThere are many U-Haul neighborhood dealers to choose from in my area and I chose the best! From initial phone call, to make sure I had the necessary equipment, to pickup and then drop off, I had terrific customer service and instructions. Artie and Mike answered every question I had since this was my first time towing my vehicle with my RV. When I need any U-Haul service again I know who I'll call. Do yourself a favor and deal with these guys for a no rush, no stress event.

RIGOBERTO VThe lot person hitched the trailer, plugged it in and started to walk away. I flipped on the flashers to check the trailer lights and found that the right trailer light was out. He told me that they don’t do any maintenance on the equipment so I could either take the trailer or wait three or four days until a U-Haul rep came to fix it. So I drove 1400 miles with no brake or turn signal on the right side of my trailer.

CHRISTOPHER WI booked the Uhaul online. The place where I was instructed to pick it up was not a Uhaul location. I tried to reach Uhaul to no avail. I drove over to a different Uhaul place and ordered another Uhaul to be picked up on 3/31/25. I got a call from Uhaul on 3/30/25 and was told that the trailer I had reserved would not be available. I was told that I could pick it up the next day at Rahimi. I dropped in to see the representative at Rahimi and asked if he could alert me when the trailer arrived. He said “no” he would be too busy and acted as if the Uhaul franchise was more of a distraction than a business they represent. So yes “BelowAverage”

Jose VOverall, great experience and super simple process, I was in and out within 15 minutes or so. Staff was friendly and conversational. The trailer itself did have minor spots of oil on the deck, but aside from that, the equipment was great and helped in my move tremendously. Would definitely come back and rent from here again, and recommend to others.

LUIS RRep claimed they don’t hook or unhook units and this was a large trailer that he didn’t want to help lift off hitch. He reluctantly did, but claimed “why should he throw his back out when he doesn’t have insurance through U-Haul.”
CRYSTAL SSuper easy to drop off - large lot that was easy to get in or out of. Great customer service, although I thought it was weird that he didn't check out the truck before I left - he didn't check the fuel, for any extra scrapes or dings (not that there were any), etc. Very personable and friendly.
JENNIFER GThe manager was one of the rudest people I've ever come across. We didn't get our dolly or moving blankets and, when questioned, he made no effort to address the issue. He was insulting and vulgar and I will never set foot in that cesspool again. Horrible experience.

He was rude during the paperwork phase, he did not offer to hook the trailer up (just gave us the keys) and if we were not in a bind or had we known the other U-Haul spot on Fortuna down the street was there and had what we needed, we would have walked out. Equipment was fine, service was terrible.

Bob SThe site location was a terrible experience. When I turned in this equipment, the general manager of the site location told me he checked in the equipment. He did not check the equipment in the U-Haul system until three days later. The system showed my account as a late turn in as a result. If I wasn't so diligent about checking my account and call the U-Haul traffic office for the Northern AZ sector, I would have likely incurred late fees as a result of the general manager's inability to check in this equipment, which was turned in on time.

rodney pThe individual that I rented the truck from was unprofessional and rude. During the checkout process the transaction was being denied due to a fraud alert. He was annoyed that it was taking so long to complete the verification process. He stated that he “didn’t have time to waste 30 minutes renting a U-Haul to a customer.” It was more like 10 minutes. I explained to him that I was a paying customer, for which he responded that he doesn’t even make any money renting U-Haul equipment. The dolly equipped was in poor shape and he stated that his inventory was “always wrong in the system.” I would never recommend this place for a U-Haul rental and even considered filing a formal complaint with U-Haul. This location is bad for your business, because they are unprofessional, rude and don’t see their part in the U-Haul equipment process as lucrative enough for their business, which is apparently used cars.
