They don’t take cars after hours. I spoke with the business owner and he said that he’s tried getting it fixed through U-haul but no luck. He also said he’s gotten in trouble with the city for this. This location should not be accepting drop offs after hours.

This location was not where I selected to drop off and was contacted last minute by U-Haul with the change. It was hard to park in, no instructions were provided, we had to ask a business next door, the place to park was a muddy spot under train tracks filled with junk cars with no signage, and I spent a significant amount of time on the phone in the rain with U-Haul trying to figure out where to leave the key since the drop box had been removed.

It was not clear where to drop off the key. The key box required a 4 digit code but we were never given a code nor were there any instructions on how to get a code so we went back the next day to discover they were closed and now I have to go back again tomorrow still to drip off the key. It was also unclear where to park the truck, the parking space was cramped and difficult to park in. This simply should not be a Uhaul location.

This location was also changed on us. The website shows we can drop the key off in a box, but there were only lock boxes. The website had issues as it never would send me the 2-party code and had to be reset by a phone call. Once we finally got through the digital process, we were not given a lockbox code. So we had to call customer service again. It took almost an hour to get this resolved. Started to rain in the meantime. Customer service/phone people were nice, but this was a major frustration. The website for this location needs to be updated.

I called the day before pickup and to confirm what information I needed to pickup the truck. I was told my drivers license and reservation number. When I arrived to pickup there was no one there, someone arrived and said we needed a 4 digit code. I was put on a 20 minute phone call hold then told I did not need a code and should be able to get the truck. I was not able to. Finally got the truck almost an hour later (after calling again and someone else providing me with a code) and by then had missed my freight elevator reservation. Drop off was just as bad. Will be renting from Penske in the future.

The parking area is absolutely ludicrous. The dropoff for the keys simply doesn't exist, I had to find an employee of the auto shop to take the key. This is a ridiculous Uhaul location that should not exist unless they are able to clarify how customers are supposed to interact with their business. This was a disastrous end to a very very long day and I hope nobody else is subjected to this location for dropoff.

I made my reservation at the U-Haul Center at Lincoln Park, suburbs of Chicago. I was quoted a price and asked the question "do you give Military Discount", and the employer had to check and said it was 20%, and I was given a quote less than the original. When I arrived in Columbia, SC, to turn in the truck, the quote was much higher than I was quoted. The Lincoln Park folks did not include taxes, and insurance, and when I mentioned I did not see a Military Discount, she said we don[t give Military Discounts. I am still a little concerned about the pricing of the rental truck. Suggest when you give a quote/price, it should include taxes and insurance.

This was a terrible experience. We had to drop off the vehicle after hours, and the app is super helpful and easy to use - however, it was not at all obvious where we should be parking the vehicle - there are no signs or directions. Then - there was NO drop off box. We had to call and then we were put on hold and then transferred to someone else. We walked around and around the building - there was no drop box. Finally the person on the phone gave us the code to a lockbox - so we were able to put the keys in there (the person on the phone was lovely - did everything she could) but it was dark and cold and late and after driving and moving all day - this should have been turnkey. It was NOT.

The drop off location is around the back of the building down an alley. You have to back the truck in between the tresses for the el. We never found the drop off key box and even after calling both Uhaul and the individual location, we still had no answer to where to drop the keys. We had to find someone in Chicago to take the keys to the place on Monday when they were open.

Was told by UHaul this was an anytime dropoff location. It was not - location was closed when I arrived, I had to hold the keys and drop them off on Monday in the middle of work which was not convenient.

Not give customers a UHaul at exactly 1/4 tank of gas and bank on them not fully reading the contract so you can charge them a $30 “refueling charge”. Dishonest way to do business and will recommend people avoid this location.

Make sure the customer has all the equipment they rented and were depending on for their move at the pick up site. Do not dispatch trucks with very low fuel.

Well I was called about 24hrs before my reservation being told I needed to go to another location to pick up the truck, which was very inconvenient. To help, I was told I could pick up the vehicle earlier at 8:30am instead of 10am, but when I got to the location at 8:30am no one was there. I called U Haul and was on hold for 30mins to have the call hang up. The gentleman who got to the location during that time arrived about 8:45-8:50am while I was on the phone and the person who called me the day before didn’t specify going into the body shop. Once the call was dropped and I went in to pick up the vehicle the gentleman didn’t even ask for my drivers license to verify I was legal to rent the truck or to confirm who I was meaning anyone could have taken my vehicle. I then had to wait for him to clean the vehicle, and by the time I left it was around 9:30am. Two blocks down the way the tire pressure light comes on for both right sided tires. Running late already I stop to put air in them to find the back right tire is leaking air. I called the gentleman at the pick up location, told him what was going on, and went back to switch. By the time I got that vehicle and left the location it was 10am and everything was a hassle. Also, I still never received an email from the updated contract in either case of the day before and from the switch out and that was even after confirming my email three times. Terrible experience. I would not recommend anyone use U Haul. I would rather go through the inconvenience of going out of my way and spending an extra $200 for Enterprise because they are reliable. Now if someone could contact me to maybe make my experience better that would be great, but since returning the vehicle and writing this, I’ve been on hold and hung up on again. Honestly the worst rental experience I’ve ever had for any type of vehicle.

I did not receive the rental on Sheffield Ave. I rented from Peerless Tire on Division Street. I was overcharged $70 and was not given proper gasoline credit. The tank was empty when I picked up the van and I returned it 5/8ths. I have tried to straighten this out for three weeks. I am protesting $130 of this charge.

There is no easily accessible drop off location for the keys. Parking the rental vehicle was incredibly stressful. No one to assist in any portion of the drop-off. Had to come back the next day to drop off the key because there was no dropbox that I could find. Would not recommend this location for drop-off to anyone.

Picking up the truck was relatively easy; the folks who work at SSS Auto Repair are a bit sassy, but I guess that's understandable. Our biggest issue was the app, as this is a self-service U-Haul pick up & drop off site. When we picked up the van, the app would malfunction whenever we tried to indicate prior damage; to continue, we had to indicate no damage, while we had wanted to indicate some prior damage (we tried for several minutes). But all in all, it was a fine experience.

Extremely difficult to park. The man at the counter was useless and provided no help. Issues with the app made it even more annoying. Difficult to park there. Would likely drive further for easier return.

Didn’t want to cancel the reservation and rebook particularly when trying to do the check in outside in cold weather. Don’t add these things on unless the customer specifically requests them.

The process to get cleared to take the truck was very challenging for some reason. We have rented many trucks over the years and NEVER experienced anything like that. However, Anthony was very helpful. He did everything he could to speed the process. Would come to SSS again in the future.

This was my worst experience with U-Haul. Upon arrival, all of my information was sorted as it had been when I rented from U-Haul just three weeks prior. I had to refill out all of the information and have not one, not two, but three contacts listed so they could make the security phone calls. That process alone took about 25 minutes. We received the phone calls and still had to wait as there seemed to have been a glitch in the system. The worst part began when we actually got to our van. All trucks and vans were stuffed in a tiny area underneath the L train station. There was an exit just large enough for the vehicle to exit through. Both ways, it took about 15 different pivots in the vehicle to make sure it fit in the spot. The location is pitch black and has every single vehicle fit so snug that there is no room for error. I will never return to this U-Haul location again.

Your "self-check" app was a disaster, made me wait 30 minutes in a dark alley. The business (SSS Auto Repair) you rent out of was extremely rude & told me to go sit and wait until U-Haul calls back. Total disaster, but you are lucky to have a near-monopoly so you won't need to care.

The location was closed when I dropped the truck. The parking lot was off an alley and directly under the EL. It was very challenging to get the 15' truck into the parking lot due to narrow alley, narrow gate and two random concrete barriers across from the gate that made it even tighter. Not sure that this location should be available as a drop off location for larger trucks. I found out afterwards that there was a better locations very close by.

Interior of the cabin was nasty, classic uhaul cigarette smoke covered up by perfume smell present, + the steering wheel and center dash was grubby and unclean, with hardened on food and god knows what else. Not cool to have a dirty Uhaul cabin ever, but especially during Covid19. Moving is stressful enough as it is, so the difference between a sanitized moving truck vs. a filthy one can make or break you. Either improve your sanitary efforts, or lower your prices to match the risks of viral infection and disgust your providing customers during a pandemic.

Customer service at this location because the representative was very rude and not willing to help. He was also not wearing a mask. I was very surprised by him yelling at me for asking a question about picking up the vehicle. I would absolutely not recommend this location to anyone after my experience with the representative. It was truly shocking how unprofessional and mean he was.

Very hard to get in and out of location. Alley is blocked by many other trucks. Small area to turn into place to park truck. Needed help as could not get the self return to work. No one available. Had to call 800# uhaul twice.

We arrived to pick up our Uhaul with the expectation that it would be a contactless pickup. However the website was not working. Another couple in the store at the same time was having the same issue. We struggled for 15 mins to get access to the check out process and the person behind the desk was no help. Once we finally figured out how to complete the process (tell people they need to use the app because website doesn’t work) we had to wait another 15 mins for Uhaul to call a family member to vouch for us. Overall the Uhaul experience made us lose at least 40 minutes of our allowed move time. Additionally once we finally got the truck and got to the apartment it wasn’t equipped with any of the moving supplies (dolly, furniture pads, etc) that we had requested and paid for. I understand that verification is necessary but don’t brand the process as quick and efficient when in reality it takes a while. Will not be using this service/location again.

The worker at this location is rude and he didn’t help me whatsoever, I understand that right now everything is virtual due to covid-19 but it’s a little confusing and he seemed annoyed when I asked for help. He explained that it was virtual because of covid-19 but wasn’t even wearing a mask when it’s still a requirement in Chicago. I was also charged for fuel when the gas is exactly where I left it when I got it. I’ve used uhaul before and have never had an issue until now, you guys should be more clear when trying to go virtual.

I was asked to park the truck on the street and put the key in a lockbox. There was no clear signage to indicate drop off location. Protesting was going on and I was concerned about leaving the truck on the street. I took pictures and videos of the location and the truck just in case something happened.

I have never been yelled at by an employee for wanting to check the mileage and fuel tank before. The employee here went crazy yelling "Why are you giving me a hard time?! Why are you making me check the damage on the vehicle?! Why are you acting like we are going to charge you for every little thing?!"

Anthony was not very clear on the return of the truck. He did not tell me to follow the link and complete the return, he just stated park the van put the key in the box. Had I not received the email, I would have been charged an additional $20 fee.

Since I have returned the van in working hours of the station, I was especting someone to check the van (gas, miles, condition) at the moment when I returned the van and with me. Also, at any moment of the reservation online said that I had to return the van at 3pm, as it was told me wen I picked up the van.

I do not understand the process of u-haul. My record/ identity/background check should have been completed before the day of my rental. It was terrible having to wait for someone to manually check and approve my account at the time of my pick up. This process could have been done in advance or uhaul should have given me an extra hour with the van in exchange for my time to waiting to fill out my info and be approved. I do not understand why I had to re-enter my license info when I did it at the time of my original check out. Parking/leaving my car was not easy and there were no signs indicating where it should be left. This check in process could have been automated and seamless but I left feeling worried and unknown of what charges I might acquire. Please fix. Please allow users to complete as many processes/checks necessary before the check in time. I did not like waiting on the street for some unknown robot or person to approve while I could have done this days before and actually drive the truck I rented at the time I requested. Automate these processes. Thanks.

- The Uhaul mobile login site kept giving me an error message when I tried to login. It kept saying “something went wrong on our end, try again later.” - The truck windows were so dirty it was hard to see out of them. - On a positive note the man at the desk was very friendly and I really appreciate him.
