There were some items left by the previous renter in the cabin of the truck. There were some gum wrappers and used water bottles and a drinking cup. I took care of this and returned the truck cleaner than when I picked it up. The driver's side door was difficult to close and may need to be lubricated as part of the standard maintenance tasks if not already being done. The door could be shut but only partially latches and this could be a safety hazard and an unecessary liability.
Jeff GPickup was a disaster. This isn’t a U-Haul store, it’s a regular retail store. I didn’t think this was a big deal but… The phone number listed at the store to call to receive a text in order to get into the lockbox didn’t have voicemail set up and no one answered the phone. I texted the number repeatedly and nothing. Adding to the overall confusion with the various directions on the storefront window, the trucks aren’t parked ‘behind’ the building either, they are about a quarter of a mile down a dead end service road. You can’t see them from the building. Even if we could’ve gotten to the keys, we walked all over and did not see any trucks. Finally, someone showed up but they put us about 45 minutes behind schedule. Lots of breakdowns in this service: phone number not set up to help with truck retrieval, trucks are not parked in view and instructions on storefront do not accurately indicate where they are located, the U-HAUL app was also of no help in regard to either issue.
BENJAMIN DFirst of all, I arrived at the self-service location at 11:55 for my 12PM appointment. The store was closed and the u-haul app told me to call for assistance. She said the store should be open at 11:30 for help, but it was not open. I saw that the instructions were taped onto the wall of the store, so I informed her I would hang up. The paper said to follow the instructions in the text message. Unfortunately, I did not get a text message. So I called the number written on the instructions for help. A man answered and told me that the van I reserved was not ready. At this rate, it was after 12. He said the person never returned the van yesterday so he is going to call. After a few minutes of waiting, I called back to get an update. He said the man is dropping off the van now. I told him that it was after 12 and I need to get started on moving. He said there is a truck available so I accepted. I got a text and followed the prompts to get the truck. The process took so long and I didn’t get my truck until after 12:30PM. It would not let me put in my information so I put in my friends information. Then the reservation ended up being under his name. The process included needing to call someone to confirm my reservation but it would not take my number or my friends numbers. I do not recommend to anyone, in general. It took too much time before I could actually start driving the truck and had to return the truck by a certain time. Also, how is the van not ready at my reserved time? Very unprofessional.

RYAN DThe location was simply a parking lot. The owner was very nice and responsive to my phone call. I would not recommend this site because it is simply a parking lot and had the owner not been onsite, and responsive to my call, I am not sure how I would have returned the truck. It was difficult to find the building number of the business.

Brandon JThe check in process was a pain. First the app said there would be counter check in available a starting from 11:30am and there was not. The shop was closed when I arrived at 12 pm. I had to move to a remote check in which isn't a big deal but I ran into an issue where I could not verify my truck. Everytime I clicked to do so in the app I got sent to a browser saying this link only works in the app. I had to call and have someone send me a new link. Also having to take multiple pictures of the truck before and after renting the truck is quite annoying compared to a counter check in/check out.
David KDid not realize the pick up and drop off would be self serve. Everything was via the app. It puts a burden on the customer and it was a pain. Will not do it again.

JAWAID ACereal box and other loose items were left on the uhaul. There was a lock hanging on the back with no key.
Destiny SI had intended to sign up for a u-Haul rental where we would engage with a person who could assist. . We were surprised when we went to the shop we were renting from that it was not open and we were expected to download an app to get instructions, get the key, and upload information into the app. We lost at least 30 minutes of our 3 hour rental time, just trying to figure out what we were supposed to do, and then another 15 minutes trying to check in through the app. Finally the shop owner arrived and was able to help get the key from a lock box. Perhaps for someone familiar with the process it would be easier, but it should be clear when you reserve a truck that this is what you are in for.
James KI think the UX with the website to check in needs work. I initially tried checking in on my computer but it didn’t work so I had to re-do it right as I was picking up my rental. My biggest gripe was the camera feature. It wouldn’t let me upload previous pics I took and had to retake the pics again. Scanning my drivers license was also a bit buggy - I ended up just taking a pic of my license instead.
Rachelle ASanjau was very helpful when I arrived. He explained the process and provided clear instructions on what I needed to do. It was easy access to the truck and the truck was very clean and all equipment functioning as expected.
