STACEY NI'm sorry for the extremely low rating, but I want to get Uhaul's attention. Overall, everything was fine. But two problems: 1. There was a small roof leak which could have been more problematic had it rained for a longer period of time. I got lucky the rain stopped. My stuff inside the truck was very wet after about 5 minutes of rain. 2. But the main reason for the low rating is the self-checkout experience. It was terrible. After an 11-hour day of moving, I wanted to quickly drop off the truck and get some dinner (at 9 pm). Yet it took 20 minutes to get through this self checkout system. This system is a waste of time for customers. It would take a Uhaul employee about 3-5 minutes to check out what took me 20 minutes. Having to take all of those photos is time-consuming. Admittedly, it will be faster the next time I do it, now that I know the system, but I had to read the instructions first for each photo. Because I read it quickly, I did not realize that my first photo had to capture both the mileage AND the fuel gauge, so after going through other sections, I had to go back and start over. So it's a badly designed software. There was no "back" button, so I had to simply re-do my inputs. Very frustrating. It's pitch dark and I'm stumbling over curbs to get these photos. Just a big waste of time. And you say you'll charge me $20 to do your job for you. The grocery store doesn't charge me $20 to use the cashier to check out my groceries, and it takes a lot longer for the grocery clerk to do the groceries than it would take for the Uhaul employee to check the mileage, fuel, and do a damage check. It was a very bad end to my long day of moving.
JOHN BVery disappointed with the overall service. Everything was fine until I received a receipt for where U-Haul billed extra. I rented 1 20’ U-Haul Friday afternoon at 4:15. Was set for 80 miles, drop off in Hickory. Turned it in about 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Also rented a 26’ for 80 miles, to drop off in Hickory on Saturday morning about 10:04. Turned it back in on same day, around 4:15. I received an extra charge for keeping it over 24 hours, although I had it for 6 hours, plus money for another day of insurance, charging me over $60 extra. Very upset about this. I called, and they opened a claim to get this fixed. I did everything correctly, and to be charged extra for no reason is irritating. Hoping this gets resolved and I am credited back the money. DENNIS DMy truck only had a quarter of a tank of gas; luckily I didn't have to drive far, but for the future I would prefer starting with more gas so that I don't have to maneuver a gas station with an unfamiliar truck
