Their business hours said 9-3. I arrived at 1pm to check in for my rental and was having trouble with the app. Nobody available in the business so I spent an hour and a half on the phone and ended up getting a "late" rental, which delayed my trip. Which also delayed my return, of course, and I was charged for a full day. Also, the dolly I rented was not in the van, nor was anyone available in the store. I ended up charged $135 for what should have been a $50 rental.

IBRAHEEM AConvenient process of picking up and returning; clean, spacious and reliable vehicle. We rented a 15’ truck to move from Shelton, CT to Brooklyn, NY. Our overall experience was good, despite the challenging drive in NYC, especially when snow storm started on our way back.
SHUYING WThere was no person at the location and the entire rental was using the U-Haul app. it was a terrible ordeal. What should have taken 15 minutes if a human was present took over an hour completed only with the help of U-Haul agent on the phone.

Bobbi DMake sure your hours of operation are correct on all forums. Online and at the store the hours listed are not correct…it shows open until 3pm on Saturdays multiple papers posted on windows and google YET no one was there and when I called 1-800-uhual the had different hours.
Rebecca OPhone check in was confusing. AFTER you have my reservation and CC info you want to get a reference to verify. You won’t use the same number to verify me. Wouldn’t allow my wife with separate number verify me. Fortunately the office was open and staff was able to expedite my process.

JAIME RThere was sticky residue on the drivers side door from the previous user. The tank was filled to 5/16ths or something specific which was very irritating to get a truck with so little fuel as I start my reservation! Very disappointing on the fuel, had to change my planned route, and made refueling the truck an annoying game at the pump where I had to fill some, turn on the accessory power to see the fuel level, creating a potentially dangerous situation since cars and trucks should be fully turned off while fueling!! What is wrong with yall the expectation has always been refuel it completely that was some bullshit. The attendant at Shelton Storage Solutions was awesome. Very courteous and helpful, to the point and had good information for me. She deserves recognition for her good work
CORMAC QSo I rented the van out on Oct 2 inside was clean but the window was very dirty and the side mirror as well. When the sun hit the front window it was very hard to see out off. Yes, i did use the windshield wipers and fluid. All it did was make it worst. That can cause a serious accident. It need to be clean.

stan nEverything was great, except that the van was not cleaned prior to my rental, as there was an old water bottle in the passenger door storage area. Also, the vans are parked in a lot that has trees dripping sticky sap all over them. And although I was charged a cleaning fee…I know it’s not going to get cleaned.

MARIANNE RI was not informed that there was a cleaning fee for the truck. I cleaned myself but there should be no cleaning fee if the truck is relatively clean. Home Depot does not charge a cleaning fee. Next time, I will get a truck from them. If there was no cleaning fee or will had I been informed of it my experience would have been much better.

Thomas MThe van could have used a wash and vacuum from the last customer. Sitting under the trees out back left residue on the windows. It could be cleaned from the windshield, but not the doors. Aside from that, everything was fine. Very friendly and communicative staff. Good van.
GARY DPeople running the store are very nice. Why am I charged a "vehicle cost recovery fee" for a trailer? What is the recovery cost? I picked the trailer up and dropped off. literally NOTHING ELSE TO DO.? No cleaning, no motor, no gas, no blankets, for a trailer. Phony charge for a trailer, that part is a disappointment. RIGOBERTO QThe after hours pick up is too difficult with the cell reception. It is also not intuitive where the truck was located. Also, the staff put in the incorrect equipment. So, I had to go to another location the next day and carry out the equipment myself. Finally, turning into traffic is challenging on that 2 way street. The evening traffic is busy.
Kawone HThe store manager was rude and did not care to take any accoubtability fornthe fact her store failed to put a dolly (that Inpaid for) in the truck I reserved. I had to move 3 rooms with heavy furniture without that critical toll I requested from them. Only to have the manager address me with aggression and disrespect. Will not do business with this uhail store again and definitely wouldnt recommend ANYONE to that store.
Victoria MThe air conditioning in my vehicle died about a quarter of the way through my trip on one of the hottest days of the summer. When I informed the person at the desk, he just shrugged and said “Yeah. Sorry.”

Nicole KThere were no hand trucks available to add to my rental. The lady mentioned they hadn't had any available in a while. Honestly, there should be one that comes with every truck. But at the least they should be available if needed to add on.
SARAH RMaking the UHAUL APP more effective and easy to use instead of making it difficult to pick up your rental when it was booked 2 weeks in advance and also, when calling customer service after your pick up location is closed not having to wait 45 minutes before someone actually picks up and makes it difficult just like the UHAUL APP.
CARIDAD RI requested a different location and was told my equipment had been given away. I was reassigned to this Howe St location which was an additional 45 minutes away. So I was then charged by the mile to get this truck to the location I originally requested and needed it. I had reserved a dolly and was told at pick up that there weren’t any and told to drive to yet another location to pick one up. The truck was dirty, the airbags didn’t work, and the driver side review mirrors didn’t move making them useless. The entire experience was frustrating, exhausting, and nothing as it should have been. I will do everything in my power to not use U-Haul again.
