The staff was excellent, they gave me a warning when my truck was delayed until the next morning and secured another truck. Unfortunately the gas line was cut do to thieving (not their fault!) and we were very lucky to not have been harmed. The worst thing that happened was it took an extra hour to load because we got a 10' truck instead of a 15' truckDAWN V.

There was a check engine light and "tire" warning thing the whole time I rented it. Before I left I went back in to ask about it and they assured me the computer system just needed resetting, but it still felt a little worrisome to have that on for my whole long trip. It wasn't a big deal, but I wish it had been reset or whatever was needed so it worked. It also blocked me from seeing the mileage which was a minor annoyance. And the van was clean enough, but some food wrappers, crumbs, stuff like that, that made me not motivate to really deep clean it before returning it. All in all it was a great rental and such a fair price for the amount of moving I had to do with it!MAISIE G.

I showed up 8 minutes earlier than scheduled on line on July 3rd for a July 4th gig and was told quite simply NO. Just NO. I could see the scheduled trailer and asked if I could to contactless. NO. But I have a reservation... NO. No explanation and NO alternate options as it was not five o' clock the even before Independence Day. I lost a full day of sales. I have never had a problem with UHAUL services until I rented from this location. Absolute worst experience ever. I paid around $500 for a broken, unsafe, gas-guzzling vehicle that smelled like literal crap inside. Here is the long version: I reserved a van to use for 2 days but when I went to pick it up it was not there. There was a van in their parking lot so I asked about it and was told that it was broken and unable to be used until it was repaired. I was told that I needed to come back the next day. When I arrived the next morning, there were two vans in their lot with one in front of the other. After filling out the paperwork, I was given a key for my rental van. I assumed it was for the one in the front because the one in the back was the broken one from the day before. I was wrong and my key went to the "broken" van. The problems with my rental started immediately. When I started the van the onboard computer information center was flashing an issue with the tire monitoring system. There is also a red exclamation flashing in the instrument cluster. I walked into the office to let them know about it and they said they knew about it and we're waiting for a part from U-Haul to fix it. They said it was fine and would not be a problem. There were also no pictures on file for me to compare as part of the initial rental to check for damages that occurred prior to my rental so I was unable to utilize this tool. I left the lot and within one hour I found out that the windshield wiper fluid was empty which was not a big deal but the truck itself seems like it was sluggish as I headed on my way. The inside was dirty and had pine needles and trash everywhere. There was a dolly in there that I did not order and shoe prints all over the inside of the doors and center console. I noticed immediately that it was consuming more gas than the last van I had rented from U-Haul but from a different location. There were discrepancies about when I was supposed to return it and what price I was going to be paying when I check the website in my reservation order it was saying a completely different thing than what they said at the location. I had to call the roadside assistance because their transmission was shifting erratically and there were lights coming on in the instrument panel as warnings for oil life being at 0%. Roadside assistance told me they were sending a mechanic to assess the issue and for me to stay where i was until he arrived. When he got there close to 2 hours later he could hear that the engine was having problems as soon as it started. He determined that the issues were coming from a bad alternator not putting out enough power and draining the battery in the meantime. It was late on a weekend night so there was no way to get a new alternator and because there was no other equipment available for me to swap it out with I had to keep using it but was told that I'd be reimbursed for gas by a representative on the phone. The van performance was even worse on our return trip the next morning. It shuddered and shifted erratically the whole drive. I turned on the heater and the most horrible smell came out of the vents. It smelled like feces and did not go away fully. After returning the van, I was charged a higher rate than what was shown on my order in my online account and when I sent my gas receipts in for reimbursement they said that it was denied. I had no opportunity to despute the charge because the money was taken from my account automatically. I have had several conversations with uhaul but I have yet to receive a call back to resolve this horrible experience. I was told I would be contacted but it hasn't happened. Please do not rent a vehicle from this location.JULIE R.

There was only 1 person at the counter to handle the customers and the telephone calls. He was overwhelmed. He sent me out to the van I'd rented and didn't tell me that the driver's side mirror was only partially there. I managed, but it was unsafe.ELLEN H.

The guy who checked me in was courteous. But when I got to the truck, I couldn't see out of the windshield and there was no wiper fluid. I went back into the front office and they quickly washed the window for me and refilled the fluid. The truck itself is in a tired state. The axel feels like it's going out...every time I would used the breaks, the whole truck shook. There was a crack in the windshield. The breaks were really squeaky, and it was so loud on the freeway, I couldn't hear the radio or my partner as we were driving! It also left leaks when we parked the truck. I didn't feel safe, it's run down and not kept in good condition at all. The driver side door didn't shut well, I had to use all my strength to get it to close. All this to say that this truck needs to retire, and U-Haul needs to keep their clients feeling safe. I wouldn't recommend a friend to use this location based on the truck I had. If the truck was safer, then it would be a different story.ALINE D.

Transmission was slipping and back of truck smelled strongly of marijuana when picked up. Clerk was well aware and let me know about the smell. Truck was not ready when reservation was scheduled for 8am pickup. I arrived on time and was asked to come back at 8:30 as truck was not ready. I also was charged $10 for fuel even though the truck was only driven 9 miles total from pickup to dropoff.VINCENZO C.

Pickup truck trailer wiring faulty. Waited for Uhaul to fix problem before I could depart. I only needed the pickup and trailer for a short errand and turned both back in about 2 hours later. Grass Valley Uhaul called me the next day asking when I was going to return the pickup. I guess they got it straightened out?David C.
My reservation was changed due to issue with equipment, and then when I went to pick up my equipment I was unable to because they did not have the keys to the vehicle, the interior of the u-haul was not cleaned prior to me picking it up. The window was dirty And there was no washer fluid in it. And the vehicle smelled.CHRISTY H.

I would normally rate this location a 4 or 5. However, the cargo area of the truck was filthy. A layer of dirt and leaves throughout... please remember to take a look inside to ensure that the space is clean prior to renting. I really like this location, the people are helpful and friendly in my experience. I assume this was an oversight/mistake as they had a lot going on in the yard.SCOTT W.

The gentleman at the desk is a total professional. He had me taken care of and on my way in minutes which was excellent as I had a "million" things to do on move day. I initially made my reservation online. U-Haul changed the location of my truck to a location 45 minutes away from my home in an email at 2 o'clock the day before. I had made this reservation a week in advance. I called u-Haul with the number provided if I had problems with the change of locationâ€¦ The phone rang and rang and went to a mailbox that was full so I could not leave a message. There was a link in the email to check on status of the change of location. Once I clicked on the link the link was not functioning. If it wasn't for Garrett in my local location for U-Haul I would not have been able to move that day. He was able to get me a truck and cleaned up the reservation mess originally made by the online website. It's a good thing you have some good employees that come through for your customer like Garrett at the grass Valley locationVAL C.

The truck that I rented was full of smoke. I know this was not your fault but have asthma it was difficult to take. I exchange the truck and the newer truck had sticky places on the steering wheel. I did not get the sense that you cleaned the rental between drivers. In this day of COVID-19 it would be a good idea that you clean the rentals between drivers. When I picked up the trailer, I did not notice that the left tire was bald as a babies butt. What concerns me is that the staff failed to notice this issue while the trailer was parked on the lot. The morning that I was ready to leave with the trailer fully loaded, the left tire was almost flat. I filled the tire and returned to the Uhaul facility and asked for a new tire. The rep stated, "On no, that trailer should have never left the lot". The tire was changed and I was OK to leave. Your employees need to do a better job of safety checks before any customer takes any piece of equipment off the lots.BRUCE P.
