They were too busy talking amongst each other to help at first. Then tell me where to park the trailer I rented and I have to wait on the them to move their cars (one guy took his sweet time and i could see he wasn't doing anything but chatting).They don't have much space for the uhauls. They don't have good customer service.

They need a trained employee, who knows how to do U hauls, He had to call someone else to talk him through it. I reserved the truck for 10:30 am and Me and my son didn't leave the place till I say around 11:30 am. I had to ask him 3 times to come move two other U Hauls so we could get the one we rented out.

Location advertises as a 24 hour return location but they are not. I even called U-Haul to check and they said that they show to be 24 hours, I did the return procedure with the U-haul app but they don't have a key drop box anywhere to return the key, so after I have completed my return I am still stuck with the keys and a U-haul. The guy there got mad because I returned it after they closed. He claimed they are not a 24 hour location but as of the date of this current review they still show 24 hours. I don't think U-Haul cares either because they claimed they would have the location update to reflect the actual services offered at this location. So anyways if your looking for the convenience of a 24 hour return look else where, I think they just say they are so that they look like a more attractive rental location. And the guy behind the counter makes you feel like your unconvincing him doing business. He was too busy talking on the phone to even really pay attention to your questions.

Clerk was alone running a busy gas station and mini mart, long wait to get the truck out, he didn’t go over truck with me, it had a large crack in the windshield, had a dirty floorboard and fuel tank wasn’t full/it showed 302 miles to go. I went back inside and told clerk of the gas and windshield but he spoke limited English and I didn’t feel comfortable he understood me.

I booked a uhaul through the app. The app said to pick it up at another Oakdale location. I get a call from the Mchenry Blvd location saying they don’t have it. The day before. They talked me into a bigger size which I didn’t need. And didn’t feel comfortable driving. I brought it back within 5 minutes. And booked a smaller size. The reps on the phone were rude for the most part. They know you don’t have a choice when it’s the last second. I don’t think I’ll go with uhaul again.

reserved equipment was not available at scheduled date and time of pickup, nor was there any consideration for a reduction in price since we had to rent another larger truck at the time; it was reported that the previous renter did not return on time and wanted to extend their rental another day which was our reserved rental; some consideration should be given since we had no control over the agreed upon truck not being available; also, the gas used is somewhat deceiving; we drove the truck 21 miles in the local town and were required to put in 5.56 gallons of gas; that would make the gas-per-mile rate of 3.8; seems impossible; I am confident that we were required to put in more gas than what we actually used

The person doing the paperwork was rude and he was also eating and talking on the phone while assisting me. Also had me enter my information because he couldn't be bothered. Will not ever visit that station again.

1) Once I had the trailer connected, the local personnel did not check to make sure the lights on the trailer worked properly and he didn't even open the doors so I could see it was all clean. 2) I received a call from U-Haul on the morning of Sept 19, 2024, and was asked if I would mind if my pickup location was changed. I said that as long as I could get everything I had reserved I thought that would be okay. The young lady told me it wasn't far so I agreed. 3) When I drove to the new location and back it was an hour's drive and 34 miles. Plus, when I asked about the blankets I had reserved the young man said they don't carry blankets at the Oakdale location. This was exactly what I asked the young lady about during my phone call that morning. 4) So I called the number on the electronic receipt and they said they couldn't help me. 5) Once I got back to the house in Ripon, CA I called the phone number again and the first lady said she couldn't help me but transferred me to a supervisor for assistance. She was accommodating and made arrangements for me to pick up the 12 blankets that I had reserved in Manteca. Another 45 minutes of afternoon driving and 15 more miles. In total, I drove 49 miles to pick up the equipment that I had reserved, which was originally just 4.1 miles away. As far as the trailer was concerned, it pulled nicely behind my F-250 Super Cab truck. No problems were encountered. I would rent this type of trailer again, but at a U-Haul Store.

I had called U-Haul after I picked up this truck and noticed the damage and some other issues. The representative told me to point it out to the person when I turned the truck back in. When I tried to, this person said he had nothing to do with Uhaul and I needed to call them. I mentioned twice that I had already called them and explained this and they told me to talk to him but he didn't have any interest in listening. In addition. I was directed to another drop off point in another town after I had booked the reservation. As a result I had to drive additional miles for which U-Haul now has charged me.

The a/c in the truck didn’t work, the steering was super sketchy. The truck pulled so hard to one side I had to hold the steering wheel about half a turn before it would start to turn. It was awful and kinda scary and hot.

Have clean trucks that are better maintained. My truck failed to start after loading it and I lost several hours during my move. My movers that were scheduled to assist via Uhaul could not be productive and I lost time and money.

This location needs to be investigated. I was charged when the fuel was on the E line and I returned it the same way because I was told I returned past the line a little bit. Trash from the previous user was stuffed behind the seats and looked like it was there a while. The smell was horrid. I also was told I was charged for 6 miles when I went 3. Also, the previous check in they conducted stated there was 1/4 tank of gas left when it was on E. I let the first time slide when this happened and this location has also been said to have been over charging people with other items. Not making your business look good at all.

After leaving with the uhaul we noticed garbage shoved behind the seat. Seats were torn. No air conditioner. Oakdale liquor is a significantly better location to rent uhauls from.

We had to help move trucks to get to ours. Took almost 40 min because he was working the counter alone as a gas station attendant. If was 45 min and extra miles away from our location. The ac went out when we git go the mojave desert. Still havent heard from a uhaul rep in the issue. Not the best experience

Truck was filthy. Check engine light was on. No dolly even though I paid for one then had to buy my own. Was charged a cleaning fee by the drop off site. I was suppose to pick up the truck in Escalon where I lived then last minute was told I had to drive to Oakdale which added onto the mileage to truck.I’m requesting refund of dolly fee of $15 as well as the $25 cleaning charge

Wrong location and Wrong time, I called customer support before pick up and was told that I would receive $100 off due to the inconvenience and delay. I have yet to receive my compensation. I will be calling on Monday.

We picked up the 26 ft truck and it was on Empty, ok, that's alright but the truck was in bad shape, very thin tires and it was dirty inside the truck. We came back with more gas and the right time, but they charged us a $50.00 missing/damage fee. The truck was in the same condition when we came back and even cleaner! they over charged me last time and I will not rent from them again. They don't speak english well either, hard to understand them. please take the $50.00 charge off! we rent from your company often for shows, but from Oakdale Liquor , which is a great place to do business with. The attendant upon delivery was not helpful at all. Did not check the truck when I dropped it off. I believe his English skills were very low. That is the reason it was lack of communication.

The store clerks were not very helpful, had problems taking pictures of drivers licences, we were told there is NO MILEAGE CHARGE since a one way rental. Moving blankets were filthy & even WET. I had to search another uhaul truck loaded w/ blankets & rear door open to weather. We received NO copy of contract that the Oakland Uhaul said we should have gotten. Then waiting for over 20 min for help sitting in truck as the sign states to do. Then told there is going to be mileage charge. Uhaul seems to not explain charges on purpose, or their employees are just that bad.

This was not the confirmed dropoff location, so the clerks had no idea who I was, English was not their first language so I was very concerned that they understood what was going on. I went to the original confirmed dropoff location and was asked to drop off at a different location because his lot was full. I chose the drop off location based on the walk distance to my mechanic. Changing the location added about a mile to my walk.

Not nice and told me to help him I’m 73 he wanted me to take the trailer of the hitch with him I was backing up the trailer and was mad because I wouldn’t listen to him when I was about to back into another trailer. I had to tell him that I was going to hit the other trailer and he finally said go forward and I’ll move the other trailer.

When I picked up the uhaul I gave them a credit card different from the one that was used to make the reservation. They did not verify the info after that and I discovered that the email was wrong. We corrected that. As soon as I opened the van door I gagged as it had a horrid smell I opened the back and someone had either vomited or urinated and it had mostly dried. There was also trash on the floor. After much disagreement about who's responsibility it was to clean this he went out and did that but left most of the dried substance on the floor. Then on delivery, he took the key and did not go check anything, I insisted that he go make sure the tank was full and the unit was clean so I didn't get a bill later. I asked for a printed receipt, and they could not provide that. Said was emailed but when I asked to see the email address it was till not corrected form pick up. They also charged the wrong card, not the one I gave them. No responsibility, no apologies, very rude & incompetent. If I had any flexible time line or other option I would of walked away.

These men intentionally tried to ripe me off. I originally made my reservation online and was given an estimate for the rental. When I arrived to pick up the truck the men told me the price would be double what I was quoted. I looked at the Uhaul app and it was giving me a different estimate than it had before. The man said he didn’t know why, but this was the price available. After I was done using the truck I contacted customer service. I was told I had been charged for a two day rental even though I had returned the truck before my 4 hours was up. The lady on the phone could see my pick up and drop off times and knew I was telling the truth. She refunded me what I was owed. These men are scammers and intentionally tried to over charge me.

I brought the Van back with a little more gas than when I picked it up. The guy said that it was low and charged me $36 + dollars for gas. I an now going to file a Complaint with DOT as well as investigators with the DMV. This location needs to have consequences for ripping people off.!

I rented a car trailer. The traps that go over the tires were worn. One strap had obviously broken and was unusable. Unfortunately I did not discover this until I got to the location 45 minutes away. Luckily I had brought some extra traps that I was able to use. If hadn’t had those straps the trailer would have been completely useless. Location advised but I did not get the impression it would be addressed.

First and foremost the truck was parked behind the building in a very narrow alleyway. I was handed the keys and was told “here you go”. I had to ask the clerk to get the truck out for me. The truck was absolutely filthy! Upholstery was torn, seat belt was broken and to top things off the truck was E! I called back to complain and was told the man who checked me out was no longer there. I will NEVER use this location again! Customer service was terrible.

They are better off running the gas station and their store at that location. That person at the store location can't do three jobs at one time run a gas station and the store and the U-Haul. The driver side and the passenger side was dirty on the floor dry dirty mud floors.

Trucks were dirty and the clerk asked me to move the other trucks out of the way so I can pull the one I rented out. Check engine light was on and he said it’s ok then when I asked for furniture dolly that I already paid for the clerk replied it should already be in the truck but it wasn’t and I showed them. They then proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have any extra and contact customer support.

The pick up location laptop wouldn’t load the uhaul website. The clerk and I had a communication barrier. I had to call the 1800 uhaul number and luckily the representative was able to complete my transaction for the truck over the phone.

Neither men working spoke English well. They weren’t familiar with the Uhaul system so it took them an hour to rent a trailer for me. I had already done the registration online. The 6x12 trailer’s lights were spliced so I had to switch to 5x8. I felt like the men were talking about me in their native language. When I came to return the trailer another customer was scolding them far shady business practices. Overall a terrible experience.

Truck was a mess with soda or who knows what all over the outside of the truck, near the drivers door. The inside was not clean either, the air didn’t work at all. There was less than a 1/16 of gas when I started the move. I was only going a short distance, I said 25 miles, but still the tank was basically on empty! When I rented the truck, I really couldn’t understand what they were saying because their English was very broken and so difficult to understand. This was my first time ever renting a uhaul. The truck worked out amazing and did more than I could have expected. The condition and communication was a different story, truck was very dirty and they didn’t seem to care to much about the customer. If I had to travel more than 10 miles, I would have been super irritated with no air conditioning. The fan didn’t even work to blow any air at all, let alone cool air. Not acceptable for a business to rent a truck in this condition. Hope this message gets to someone who cares and wants to succeed with their business.

Side view mirrors were so dirty , I couldn't see anything behind me or to the sides. It was near 100 degrees all day and the air conditioner only blew warm/hot air, no matter what setting. When turned the truck in and mentioned this, he said in broken English, "yes it doesn't work..." The cab was dirty beyond acceptable. The rep, didn't speak English very well and didn't give me any instructions, etc. He simply handed me the keys, I had to guess which 26 ft truck was the one I had the keys to. The truck served its purpose, out of desperation and lack of other options we had to use this uhaul facility. Will NEVER use them again, nor will I ever recommend them to anyone.....

I booked to pick up with the mobile app to avoid an in person visit. It was not ready and the truck was parked so close to another truck, it was almost impossible to move. The truck was extremely dirty as well and looked as if it hadn’t been washed in a very long time. Even when dropping off at my final destination, the gentleman there informed me they hardly get washed anymore because of the way the new service model works. Aside from a dirty truck and being able to pick up the truck via the mobile app, it was just fine. The truck drove great, no performance issues, and I was very impressed with the upgrades to the Uhaul trucks over the years and since the last time I rented.

This location was horrible,l located at gas station in the middle of a town with burns and gangsters in the streets , unsafe location , truck was dirty not even washed or clean. Uhal is known for service this wasn’t up to expectations but it’s all that was available.

Truck was NOT at right location and created a big delay. I rented a utility dolly and there was NOT one at new location so it made my moving very difficult. Truck was parked at an angle so gas gauge read 1/4 full and when I started driving it was actually closer to 1/8. I would like the $50 guarantee. This was not a good experience
