Everything was perfect! The owner, son and grandson were friendly and efficient. The truck was impressive. So clean and loved all the bars to tie onto. We are truly happy with our UHaul experience overall and plan to use a truck again soon to haul another load. Really appreciate being able to self move to Canada from Chicago and the 30 days of free storage.

Picking up the truck was easy and had no issues
Jodi CIn mid-February 2025, I brought a pair of replica Nike sneakers to Jessy’s Shoe Repair on Western Ave. I told him upfront they weren’t authentic, and he said “no problem.” He charged me $120 upfront to do alteration work—not cleaning, actual reconstruction. He said it would take 3 weeks. When I followed up (he never once reached out to me first), he said he needed special materials and a specific machine, and asked for a couple more weeks. I agreed. A few more weeks passed, still no contact unless I reached out. When I did, he told me the shoes were at another warehouse and he hadn’t had time to get them. He told me to give him a few more days. I did—again. When I followed up, he told me I could stop by and pick them up. When I finally arrived, after all that time, he told me in person that he had used the wrong tool, melted the material, and destroyed the shoes completely. He admitted fault and offered to replace the shoes as a resolution. Even then, I stayed patient and agreed to give him another 3 weeks. Three weeks later, I followed up again, and he told me he needed another 1–2 weeks. At this point it was late April. I had been dragged along since February with zero progress and no initiative from him to update me. When I finally told him that I needed a resolution, he began texting me with personal excuses—saying he owes money in taxes, and then telling me that he “feels bad” for me. He sent multiple messages with religious guilt, photos of Jesus and Mary, and told me I should “be a good Christian.” He refused to refund me or offer a clear resolution. From the beginning, he also asked what I do for a living, and after learning that, began upcharging me drastically for basic services. Things that cost $10–15 elsewhere, he tried to charge me $50–100 for, including zipper repairs and dry cleaning thrift-store jackets. Jessy’s entire business is unprofessional and shady. He tries to act friendly, then strings you along, damages your items, and plays mind games when you ask for accountability. After months of patience, I’m still left with no shoes, no refund, and text messages full of guilt tactics instead of solutions. Do not trust this place with your money or your belongings. This isn’t just poor service—it’s manipulative and dishonest behavior.

Charles TYour system and app did not work which delayed our departure by 40 minutes. On the return your app didn’t work so we couldn’t close out the rental. That resulted in me having to spend 20 minutes on the phone explaining why we didn’t close out the contract. The rental location personnel were working hard to get your system together work. They were very nice. All the problems were on the corporate end.
STEPHEN RThe internet connection in this area is very spotty which made it extremely difficult to move on to next steps during the online check in and made us extremely late to begin our move. The location QR code was scratched off, so we couldn’t scan that either. There was also no employee to assist if this was the case and when customer service was called, we spent 10 additional minutes on hold. We spent 45 minutes trying to pick up the Uhaul before finally being able to, even though we had gotten there before pick up time to ensure a smooth experience. When the Uhaul was picked up, there was crumbs and a mess around the driver’s seat. Overall stressful experience to begin an already stressful day, would not recommend this location to anybody.

Megan GI had the worst experience picking up my Uhaul. After arriving at the pickup location promptly at the agreed upon time, we were never given a code to the lockbox to access our key. We could see the truck parked in the lot but could not get the keys. I called the Main Uhaul phone number where I spoke to a woman who was clearly as confused as I was. After being in and out of hold with her, she informed me she didn’t know how to solve the issue and would transfer me to a different office. She assured me that the new office would be able to quickly resolve the issue. I sat on hold for an hour and a half. Finally I gave up, drove to a different location (waited 45 minutes in line), spoke to an attendant who gave me a code to the lock box, drove back to the initial location, and finally accessed the truck. This ordeal took over 3.5 hours. I am EXTREMELY disappointed.

Sara FLocation is great! The only problem is I waited over ten minutes to be approved via the app during the check out process. P.S. If you accidentally lock the keys in the uHaul like somebody I know did, call a local locksmith. Uhaul was charging $200 for assistance through the app. A local locksmith is a little over half the price. Just sayin.

It seems like the app takes a considerable amount of time to upload photos in comparison to other apps. It was very frustrating because I had a car waiting for me and couldn’t leave until everything was uploaded. I would NOT recommend a return at a partner location because of this, and would recommend U-Haul look into why this has been such a problem since this return method became an option.

Timothy M1. Don’t rent a truck with cracked windshield. The crack was too big that I'm was praying the entire journey to not get a ticket from the police and mainly, it was a windy day and it could have get busted and put my life in danger. This truck should never be qualified for rent. 2. I rented Utility and Furniture dollies with the truck which was supposed to be inside the truck at pick up but there was nothing. This inconvenience wasted my time looking for these supplies to rent from different place, which led to my movers waiting until I got the supplies and I had to pay them for the extra time out of the originally planned expenses. So, keep your promises or have the courtesy of notifying your customers ahead of time.
Birhane TI'm a return customer because of a positive experience the first time I rented a U-Haul from this location. Even though I moved and had closer locations to rent from, I traveled a little out of the way to rent from them because I know they have a friendly staff and make renting easy. The equipment is clean and kept in great shape.

Ryan WI ordered a hand truck and 10 furniture pads; the location did not have the hand truck and only 5 of the furniture pads that I had reserved. Additionally, Uhaul severely underestimates the sizes of what is in a 1-2 bedroom for a 10' truck. I ended up having to ditch a couch and desk because it would not fit in the 10'.

Benjamin RThe internet and cell service at the Damen Sun Auto Lot is very poor. The mobile pickup/drop off takes significantly longer than it should because of this. You should offer free WiFi to U-Haul renters at that location to ensure rentals can be as quick and painless as possible.
Michael WMy experience with the Uhaul app was very poor. It did not work, and delayed my pick up by 2 hours. If there wasn't someone who showed up on the day that the uhaul location was not open, i would have not been able to complete my move this past weekend which would have been horrible.

Scott B24 hr reservation to begin at 11:30. Arrived at 8:00 and picked up the truck. Dropped it off at 5pm. Was charged through 11:30 the next day- so charged for two days when truck was back in 9.5 hrs. Drove 21 miles. Put 4 gallons of gas in. Was charged a fuel charge and for three more gallons of gas. So.7 gallons of gas to drive 21 miles?!! A scam and ripoff of the customer. Additionally- when I did my reservation- I could swear Safe Move Plus was on site at $30. Was charged $60. So what I expected to be about $90-100 was over $218. Truck was returned at 5pm on Wednesday. Was not checked in until after noon on Thursday. I will never use this location again The overcharges are not the end of the world- but the fact that they can manipulate things like this is bad service!

Tom EAs this location was both close to where I dropped belongings off and to public transportation so I could get home, I insisted on dropping off here. OnceI arrived, I realized why you tried to change the location: it was closed on Sunday, and there were no free parking spots. I was able to back the truck into a spot in front of another truck, so the parking lot was clear, and the mobile phone drop off was easy to navigate. I applaud your use of technology!
