Would like to know why U-Haul offers a discount for drop off at a particular location, redirects drop off to a different location, and then removes the discount, and then, double charges. 434656-1810

The truck was cover in red mud and the back of truck in cargo area was tons of RED DIRT! I had to clean it out before putting my clean fabric furniture and mattresses in it. I was VERY UNHAPPY with the condition of truck!

Vehicle had slick tires and so I got stuck in wet grass and had to be towed which caused a two hour delay. The brakes would go all the way to the floor board, the shocks were worn out and it rode really rough bouncing the contents on the back all over the place, and the check engine light came on! Not to mention how slow the internet service was were I rented it from. Just an overall terrible experience!

Honoring a reservation is always nice. Or if not going to honor it, not allowing it to be rented online would be nice so that people can plan around it.

The windshield wipers on the truck I was provided were basically coming apart. When it rained a bit, I could hardly see. The truck was also dirty. But the main issue I have with your company is that I could not contact anyone for Assistance at your toll-free number. The question I have for you, is why do you have a toll-free number at all if no one ever picks up the phone? I stayed on hold on numerous occasions from 10 to 20 minutes and never heard from anyone! It also took about 10 hours for someone to Email me back once I had contacted you. Very disappointed in your company this time!

I was rented a 8 X 10 double axle trailer which was fine. I used it for approx. 1 week and it worked out just fine clean etc. Then I rented a one way large cab over truck which should not have been on the road. It had been in a accident prior to me renting and tracked crooked . And I mean real crooket , got pulled over twice cause police felt it was unsafe. People were pulling around me at traffic lights and pointing to the rear of truck. 1st couple of times I thought I had left door open and things were falling out but they were referring to the tracking of the truck. The rental location had to of know this truck was not right cause I made note of the braodside damage before I rented it but did not realize it was tracking at a angle before I left. BAD BUSINESS ON THEIR PART.

I requested a 17' truck on my reservation and all they had was a 20'. The location was moved by U-Haul and I wasn't charged extra but due to the 3' extra I had to cut down 5 trees to get the truck in the space. Better communication is certainly needed when changing a reservation without the knowledge of the customer.

The Hardware Co dispatched a truck to me with some mechanical problems, i.e., weak battery, slightly loose steering, and possibly a faulty ramp). I also had to jump start the battery which caused a delay in my departure. Furthermore, they were unreachable when I tried to contact someone for assistance since they were closed on the weekends.

The location is ideal for pickup/dropoff but the lot looks run down and the inside of store like a hurricane went thru it. Personnel working there are very pleasant. Place just needs a face lift.

The 800 number was useless, unable to help in any objective way even trying sending me to a place over hour away. A neighbor told me there was a uhaul in a nearby town, 15 minutes away. Gretna uhaul got me right into a rental, no drama, no waiting. Couldn't have been more customer friendly and couldn't have been more of a contrast from the service on the (2 calls) 800 number. Put a jack on the Trailers to make it easier to hook up and un hook when trailer is loaded. That is the only thing .

This was not my original pickup location. I had to have the hitch put on 30 miles away from this location, was not happy. Trailer had a marker light that was just hanging. No longer living in the area so recommending it is N/A

My dealing with this location was just wonderful and very friendly was in and out in no time. Went in the day before I needed the service set up everything and came in next day in and out so cool. The Representative she was great if I have any more need to rent it will be from the Gretna Location, thanks again job well done.

My experience with u_haul.com was not good. I reserved a 17' truck. When I called the day before pick up, I was informed my pick up location did not have 17' truck, but a 15'truck. That I would have to drive 45 minutes to get a bigger truck. I told them I could not drive the distance to get the bigger truck and the 15' was not big enough. I was not offered any alternative. When I picked up the 15' truck i told the distributor it was not big enough. Upon loading the truck our assumptions were confirmed not all the household items would fit. I went back to the local uhaul location, where I call uhaul.com asking for a comp to rent a enclosed trailer. The staff refused to help me, even hanging up on me when I asked for their name. I was told by the local richmond representative that I agreed to the 15' truck and was even told 'you have a trailer too'. I didn't like the assumption that the staff made about my situation and what was said about my accepting what was available to me at the local distributor. The uhaul.com staff refused to recognized that I stated I didnt think the truck would meet my needs. Regardless, I ended up having to rent an additional piece of equipment and deal with staff following policies and procedures that were not sympathetic to the situation that uhaul put me in. Very poor uhaul.com customer service.

First of all, this place is a dump. The rentals were based out of a small hardware store. Despite the fact that the store is very small, it is a disaster. There counter was piled high with stuff and totally disorganized--and not because they got in new stock that day--the office is a mess and the place just looks trashy. The lady in charge of my rental was completely rude and unprofessional. I walked in and spoke to one employee who then appeared to have been getting things together for my rental, and then she walks out and asks if I am being helped to which I said 'yes.' She then asks me what I'm there for, and I told her my uhaul rental, and she replies in a huff, 'Well then you are not being helped,' and comes over and starts doing the paperwork (sorry, how would I have known that only you were smart enough for u haul paperwork?).The manner in which she spoke to me was rude and condescending-like she was annoyed with me to the point that I was seriously getting perturbed. She would ask me questions like I was stupid--her personality was the worst! I already decided that I would never be doing business with her again. The final kicker was this--we wound up not even using the truck. I rented it for my mover who was going to pick up a piano at my parents house, and once he got my house loaded he saw that he was not going to have room. So I knew she wasn't going to give me my money back, but I thought I would just ask if maybe there would be some kind of refund even if it were just 50%--I always ask these kinds of questions. Keep in mind the fact that at this point, she already has my money, she was given $67 for nothing, and all she had to do was nicely say, 'No, I'm sorry, we can't refund your money even though you did not use the truck.' This woman has such horrible people skills that the only thing she could do was say in a condescending voice 'Pffft it does not matter that you did not use it, you rented it, and blah blah blah...' Anyway, I am so happy to write this review so I can tell someone about my terrible experience at 'The Hardware Company' of lovely Gretna, VA. Thank you

If you really need a Uhaul and are desperate go for it. But, if you can utilize another option do so. A cargo van for $19.95 ended up costing me $100.05 for seven hours not to mention the $20.00 in gas I had to put in the van. ABSOLUTE RIP OFF. Do not use Uhaul until you have exhausted all other options!
