Our experience with The Mail Center was incredibly frustrating and not consistent with the customer service we have experienced with U-Haul before. Our reservation made through the U-Haul website was not honored by The Mail Center and one of the staff members was extremely disrespectful to us. Instead of providing quality customer service and attempting to remedy the problems posed by The Mail Center, she acted as though WE were the problem. We were told we needed three people physically present to rent a truck that one individual would be driving/riding in, the price listed on our reservation was not honored, and we received broken equipment. We spent nearly two hours in The Mail Center attempting to advocate for ourselves and left feeling completely disrespected and ripped off. We would greatly appreciate it if an official U-Haul representative would reach out to us. Thank you.Jeremiah S.

The entire experience was awful. I get that you guys kind of have a monopoly on the truck rental game, but do better. I choose mobile pickup, which didn't work. Get a call from the store because we have to go inside, even with mobile pickup. So, I don't know why it's even an option. You system for fuel replenishment is a scam. Why you can't just give people a full talk of gas and have them bring back a full tank of gas is beyond me. Instead, you have this system that makes it impossible to know how much gas to actually put in, and if you guess wrong, you charge outrageous fuel prices to bring it up the rest of the way. Overall, the process was difficult, tedious, and left me feeling like I was scammed out of extra money because of your shady practices.Morgan P.

Ask to extend date to next morning guy on the phone told me it was okay and I confirmed twice that I could bring it the next day. Got a call three hours later and they told me that I had to bring it back in an hour or they would report it stolen. Have the rented vehicle on location, show driving cost in total for those that book online, have a working lock on the back of the truck, truck pick up when truck stalls out, and reasonable unlimited options so that people don't walk away paying $250 for 4 hrs of use.ROSS H.

The reservation process was ridiculous. I think maybe the girl was new, or the computer was giving her problems, but the process took WAY longer than expected. Then, I'm charged $66 for gas when I went 28miles for 1.5hrs. Totaling $22. $130 is ridiculousJUSTINE M.

The front desk worker did not know what he was doing. He had to call up the supervisor three times. He even once called because I asked to go over 100 miles and he didn't know if I was allowed to drive that far. The supervisor was rude and did not want to help at first. She read my ID and have it back and said oh that's the problem we can't rent to you. I asked why? She told me that I'm not 21 and tried to begin walking off. I had to explain to her that I'm 21 while she sat there with an attitude. The truck was like 2 blocks over and parked in a spot that was barely accessible. They have two buildings and the first building sent me to the second building without even asking if they could help me. The guy at the second building asked what he can do and as soon as I said uhaul he tried to send me back to the other building. The whole process that should take 5, maybe 10 minutes at most. Took around 30-35 minutes. Definitely do not recommend this place. The one plus I can say is the truck was full of gas, drove smooth, and never had any issues.JAYDUN S.

It was very difficult to locate the key pick up. The trucks are up the street about a block or so from store pick up and the directions from UHaul check in were very unclear as to where I was going. The directions included two addresses which made it even harder to determine where to go. The staff were very friendly and helpful just not a great location. I also found it very frustrating that I had to be approved with my documents or contacts as I arrived to pick up the truck. This easily could have been done beforehand versus having to complete the tasks when I arrived.Morgan M.

Parking is tight and really difficult to access when the BBQ place is open next door. The lot was empty with easy access on pick up and completely full and only alley access upon returning. We had to park a cross 3 spots so as not to stick out into the alley.Mike L.

I was overcharged with no explanation. I called and was asked to come in 2 days later to discuss it. I didn't feel like I was being heard and this was very upsetting. I made sure the truck was returned the way I left it but this was disputed. I ensured the fuel was sufficient and was charged before being accused that it wasn't.Connor M.

I was a little confused I had got all my details for a pickup in my email, and I followed the directions. I get a call the next day them asking me if I picked up they Uhaul it kinda of confused me. The staff is very friendlystarrlyn P.
I dropped off the truck after hours and the online location tracker would not work on mine or 2 of my friend's phones so that was aggravating. It took about 30 minutes to finally get this to work. But the location itself was fine and easy to navigate.WENDY F.
Van wasn't cleaned and cargo area had broken glass. Computer system for checkin didn't work and couldn't print out a receipt. . Called customer service to return van after the phone app wouldn't recognize my reservation (even using the confirmation link sent by email). Next day the manager called because UHaul didn't mark the file as promised that the van was in returned. The first clue was the keys were in the return box. Have had a better experience at the Main Street and Troost locations. This was not the staff's fault. The young lady checking me in was fabulous. But online customer service was not helpful although I was advised to take a photo of the odometer and truck exterior. I'd already done that just in case. I'm a long term user but I'll just use Bungii when I need to pick up furniture next time.Christine T.

u haul sent me to location to pickup truck , when I returned the truck it was after hours and I was unable to access the internet so I called the 1800- number to return the truck, I was informed by the customer services rep it would be ok to just return the truck, I returned the truck at the correct time, put the gas back to were it was pickup at, cleaned and same condition, I check my account the next day bx I knew they owned me money bc I had more miles estimated then used, I learned that they had over charged me over $100, we are in pandemic and already having to move and for this company to steal money and when calling the uhaul to address the issues i was told I would have wait 24-72 hrs to see if what I was saying is correct and IF i would be able to get MY money back.NEVER WILL EVER USE THIS COMPANYJessie R.
Total RIP OFF !!! Normally when u rent from U-haul u have 24 return But NOT at this place!! They close at 7pm and I rented at 10:30ish am and we were finished and on the way to drop it off at 6:50pm. I called them to say we're were parking the truck and on our way in and I was told they Already Charged me for Another day and to drop the keys in the drop box! So I said well then since I'm charged I should just keep it another day to get the rest of my stuff. She said No u were charge for another day but it Has to be Here by 8am as we already have someone picking it up. So we dropped the keys in the drop box BUT they were Still Open!!!!!! So they CHARGED me for a 2 day rental that I couldn't use the 2nd day!! EVEN THOUGH I was there to return it BEFORE they closed!!!!!! What a fricking Rip Off!!! I normally go the the U-haul on 79th n Metcalf, that's where I Should have went!!! There its Hassel free No hidden costs, and when you pay for a day you Actually get the whole dayROSEMARIE G.

Started out okay. Someone from a Kansas phone number went over the details and extended my time to 24 hours at the same price as 3 hours. We showed up at the store for p.u. and staff there were not friendly and not accommodating. Didn't know what I was talking about on the price. Then for drop off on Sunday, when normally closed, the person gave us her cell phone and asked us to call her and she would meet us at the store. We called at least twice and she never answered. We waited about 30 minutes and she never showed up. We took pictures of what we rented, left her a final message and left. About an hour later she called me back and said her phone never rang. She had only just found my messages. Not my fault her phone didn't ring. When I called the Kansas phone number, not the store number, as they were still closed, they were rude and said I didn't read my contract. I told her I assumed the manager from the store who gave us her cell phone number superceded what was on the contract, for closing out the order. The phone person said no and not only would I not be getting the 3 hour price, I would be charged more for not closing out my order at the store location, even though the manager never showed up at the dthere like she said she would.Corinne S.

The back tires on the Cargo was very bad in the rain i called to report it to the people and when i got there i asked was there going to be in extra charge the STORE MANAGER told me she not checking the vehicle so when i left she immediately charged my card for $33.94 and when i called and asked why she said $20 for a late fee and i told her that it wasn't ny fault the back wheels aren't good she got very hostiled and then charged my card for $42.99 because she was upset i called in the morning to report her and the person who answered kept saying i used 24 miles which is completely incorrect when the total miles i used is 19 miles i will like somebody to contact me via email to solve the situation i shouldn't be charged extra for them giving us a bad car and i shouldn't be charged extra because a rep is upset and felt like charging my card again. The lady that helpd me reserve and pick up the truck was nice to upgrade me to a larger truck since they didn't have the smaller, cheaper 1 that I wanted. I no longer have a car so couldn't just walk to some other Uhaul. Her name was something like Timeisha (?) not sure how it is spelled. At the last minute my brother-in-law picked me up after I had started walking to take me the rest of the way and we had difficulty finding it even though we had the exact address and asked Google. The main problem was we saw NO Uhaul sign OR Uhaul trucks or trailers sitting around like I always do the other 50 times I rented a Uhaul. We were led in circles by Google so we finally pulled over and called and this time Timeisha (?) Kameisha (?) Wasn't so nice and pleasant. She kept saying it was between some pizza place & some grill like as if I should be familiar with them & know exactly where they were and she repeated it 2 more times like as if I knew where those places were but I didn't! So what good did it do for her to keep repeating it's between this and that when I didn't know lthe places she was referring to anyway? She made me feel as if I was an idiot for having difficulty finding that location. And when I mentioned I saw no Uhaul trucks trailers or signs... She pointed to a small sign about midway down the side window by the door with a bunch of other stuff because they apparently do several businesses out of that location and Uhaul is a side line. And the truck and a van only were there but about a block to the East of Pennsylvania which is why we didn't see any Uhauls. I'm used to dealing with a Uhaul place not a mail place that also does Uhauls on the side! Just not nearly as friendly, or welcoming my business as other Uhaul places I have used many times. I particularly like Sam at Independence Uhaul and Andy formerly of downtown but now at the new facility near the airport. I no longer have a car so could not go to those places to get the truck. I had to go where I could walk there. Not even the paperwork and signing was as pleasant as others I dealt with. I will also say that I was only going from Westport to Liberty less than 15 miles and once I got on the interestate the truck was making some loud Screeching noises which reminded me of when my serpentine belt was breaking on my car when I had it. I tried to call them within 10 minutes to let them know about that but could not get an answer. It was around 1:20. Their voicemail said that if I am getting voicemail during their hours of blank to blank they were closed but they weren't closed cuz I had just been there to pick up the truck. I left a voicemail because I was a little concerned a belt would break while I was using the truck but luckily I made it to Liberty and back to Westport the next day without breaking down. Maybe everyone should test drive their truck a little before renting them out just to prevent things like this in the future. I was guessing on my time to get tVICKIE A.

The original location we selected was shutdown because of the virus. We were not notified, when I called we were directed to another location, The Mail Center. This location was not designed to drop off/detach a trailer. The regional manager said, â€˜All I can offer you is an apology.' Really? Not very helpful. Christy, the lone employee, went above and beyond to help us. Between the three of us (my husband with a broken ankle) we managed to detach the trailer. She is a superstar and a wonderful person.Susan G.
