When I went to the store to get the truck the person who does the rentals was not there. The girl running the gas station counter was helpful for as much as she could do. I had to call uhaul to get it situated to be able to rent the truck. This was after spending over an hour at the original pickup location in Statesville NC waiting on the person who did the uhaul rentals at the first location and the truck was late on arrival at this location also causing us to have to go to the Tomlin Mill One Stop.Joseph R.

Terrible experience. They changed our pickup location to a place 37 miles from our house which led us to have to pick it up the night before at 8pm. There was no light whatsoever while trying to inspect the inside of the truck. The next morning before loading, we discovered it had dirt and mulch in it which we had to clean all out before we could do anything. Also, we ordered 30 blankets and only got 15. We ordered an appliance dolly and when they switched locations on us, it took the dolly off and there wasn't one at our pick up location. It was dreadful all around. Will not use Uhaul again.Darren G.

The overall experience with uhaul was horrible and unacceptable. It cost me a lot of time and money because the location originally booked truck for was not set up properly and no notice of that before driving to that location. Absolutely nothing(maybe hire another person to help short staffing)! Even tho very busy due to short staffing, Rachel apologized for making me wait. She was with another customer, but it was fine. I didn't have to wait long. Also needed help lifting trailer hitch off of truck hitch, someone came out to do that right away! When I left, Rachel said she would call/email when return complete, as she didn't want to keep me waiting any longer. Within the hour(more like half hour), I got a call from her. Very efficient! Told me if I paid cash there and the $100 deposit I would be able to pick it up at my dropoff location which was not the case. Also asked me to quote mileage and I did but then failed to tell me u wasn't paying for the mileage and one way trips were only 30miles. I quoted then 60, so upon drop off I was being charged extra money AND couldn't pickup my cash deposit.Krista V.

For trailer anywhere hooking up. Maybe have some type of temporary leg for receiver height setting. Just keep in stores. When customer comes in, lend them temporary leg to hook up. Picking up trailer and trying to hold while hooking up is very hard for a weaker person.Seth R.

I had this unit reserved and it was rented out to someone else, either off the books or with no documentation as the owner said that the guy who came in offered his girlfriend's license and then attempted to pay with a credit card that was rejected. Terrible service. The owner simply gave me cash for my rental, charged my credit card for the rental anyway, left the reservation in my name, dispatched the auto transport trailer in my name, and now I receive the review because it is still in my name. The owner offered me a phone number to another location, but offered no other consolation or help in finding a trailer to use. This set me behind for at least a 1/2 day of work, since I had to wait until the next morning and secure another unit at a different location. I have made at least 3 contacts to the U-Haul corporate office and am still waiting an answer and a final resolution to this problem.brian M.

I am not sure if I would recommend or not, I could not get any returned calls, out of about 10 calls left voice message no returned calls, I wanted to use a credit card the lady say cash was easier, I gave 100.00 in cash. When I returned the truck no one was there. I ask that the refund money be return be mailed to me. That never happened. I called back several times and no return call. 2 weeks later I went back to NC as I live 4 hours away from there. Was told my refund was in an envelope. I went in the lady took the money out of the register. calls should be returned and refunds should be made in a timely manner.Barbara M.
This was overall my poorest experience with U-haul. These locations mentioned above did a great job with customer service and equipment however, I went to get my rental from another location prior to picking up at 1025 Tomlin Mill Rd, Statesville, NC. The original location was not customer friendly and they are the reason why I had to find a different location to pick up from. They did not make the rental experience welcoming. Basically insinuating that I was not going to return the vehicle. Days prior to the pick up, I contacted scheduling only to wait on hold for 2.5 - 3 hours to find out that the scheduling department was closed for the day. I expressed all of this and more to the U haul customer service representative and they have filed a formal complaint. I am requesting a full refund for the rental. Again, this was the worst experience I have had as a long term customer. I have been a customer of U haul for at least 5 years.ANDRE S.

Person who handled uhaul wasn't there for scheduled pick up, trainee was confused and lost. Damage to truck not noted, gas less than recorded, charged for equipment they didn't have and when I asked for a refund the lady in charge â€œwas doing paperwork and couldn't be botheredâ€. 2 hours for pick up. I showed up, the lady at the gas station managing the uhaul trucks wasn't there as she said "we have nothing booked for today", then she returned and told us she missed it while looking.
