I had a very poor and concerning experience with U-Haul. When I arrived to pick up my trailer, the agent had me go behind the counter to enter my own information into the system — something that felt unprofessional and inappropriate. Worse still, the agent did not assist me in hooking up the trailer and showed no familiarity with the equipment, particularly a safety device attached to the trailer. I later learned, upon returning the trailer, that this device was a crucial safety feature — one that had never been engaged at the time of pickup. I drove over 400 miles without realizing I was at risk due to this negligence. It is unacceptable that a company entrusted with helping people move safely would allow such a serious oversight. This wasn’t just bad service — it was dangerous. I expected better training, professionalism, and above all, a commitment to customer safety. I will be thinking twice before using this U-Haul location again and urge others to inspect everything themselves if they must use this company.

First I had to drive from Escanaba, MI. (40 miles one way) to pick up 6' x 12' trailer because Escanaba said thay had none to be rented despite 2 on campus when reservation was made. When I arrived no one at Trenary Mini Mart was capable of renting me the trailer. They had to call Manager into store, and he had to call multiple people, just to complete the transaction. After about an hour and a half the frustration was done. My guess is since this was the only piece of U-Haul equipment he may not get any back.
