The attendant at the U-Haul retailer was friendly, but that was all. I am extremely frustrated by the safety checks that were NOT performed at this retailer. I discovered, the hard way, that the front two tires of the trailer were completely balded. During initial inspection, the trailer seemed OK… The hitch, the lights and the tires, however, I was not able to see that the inside tread of the front two tires was extremely and dangerously thin. Regrettably one of the tires blew out on the freeway and it put me, my family, belongings and other motorists in danger. The one tire blew out and two hours later when the tech finally showed up to fix the blown out tire, he proactively brought out a second tire thinking that it would be a good precaution in case another tire was in bad condition, and in fact, he was right. The driver side front tire was extremely bald as well and would likely blow out soon. The U-Haul retailer knew I was doing a cross-country trip and lent me the trailer without any consideration for our safety. The tires on the outside looked fine, but once fully inspected were extremely worn out. Equipment like this should not be rented out to consumers as a could cause a major incident and major delays. I am extremely disappointed with U-Haul and it’s lack of enforcement of safety principles. I have written a complaint letter and would like a fool or even partial refund as this severely impacted my trip and it is not a random act that can’t be avoided. Equipment should always be in operational condition if it’s going to be rented out specially at the cost of $1500.

ROBERT HStaff accused driver of being in an accident; the dirt was removed with a wet wipe, saving me the “extra fees” of 188 more dollars. All accidents are reported automatically for UHauls.
NICHOLAS MCustomer service was friendly, however location possibly we did not have supplies, etc. to verify truck cleanup on return. When returning the truck had to explain why it was in the condition it was, previous runner used for concrete or tile work. Truck worked great and rental was positive but need to verify condition on return/receive.
