Over Charged Me For Gas and Miles up to $800

STACI HI estimated the miles when I set up the rental. In retrospect, I'm pretty sure I over estimated the mileage but no one has offered me a refund for the overage. I would thing it would be good business practice to adjust the bill to the mileage I actually used and issue me a credit for the difference.

Adam BWhen I arrived, the doors were locked and no one was around to answer. I started walking through the parking lot and eventually found someone on their phone .. I asked if she worked there and she gave me a head nod. She then started walking back towards the office while on her cell phone. Another worker asked what she needed and she said I was picking up a trailer, I said hello to him and he ignored me. The entire time I was checking out, she was on her personal call. At the end, I asked if I could pick it up the next morning before they opened. She said that wasn’t a problem and she would position in a safe and accessible spot. I don’t think it could have been anymore hidden and in an awkward spot. Also, one of the tail lights was not working, and the power line was so incredibly short that I had to stop multiple times on my drive to reconnect it. It was also partially cut and you could see the actual wire inside the rubber.

JOHNSON UFirst, I want to thank Patrica for working with me when I had to change my reservation. She not only worked with me not to cancel the reservation when I needed to move the date a 2nd time, she was very accommodating. Not once did she lose her patience with me or rush me to give her information. I can't say the same for the first lady I spoke with at this office, she was short, and very rude when I was under a lot of stress trying to figure out how to explain my situation. Also, the general manager at this location was awesome, he assisted me after my long wait and he was patient while I worked out paying for the U-Haul due to an unexpected breech of my bank account. Thank you, U-Haul, for having such amazing employees on staff when I need some grace the most.

CAPRICE MI rented the trailer online from Capital Blvd location to Powell Point in NC. My contract and app reflected this, however, when I tried to check out it would not allow the Powell’s point drop off location. I was told to call the owner and “work it out”. I was then texted and emailed by a drop off location over 30 miles from where I was originally to drop off. I was told I’d be charged a fee if I dropped off at the original location I selected. Basically, I had to drive the trailer 30 minutes out of my way (and hour back/forth) to do U-Haul’s dirty work of moving trailers from locations. We even called customer service- no help. What a bait and switch.

ALEXANDER JThe truck I was originally given had an empty gas tank and the odometer was several hundred miles over what was listed on the app. The truck clearly hadn't been touched since the previous customer returned it. They had to give me a bigger truck than what I reserved, which made a loud whistling noise while driving. In addition, the odometer read about 25 miles over what was listed on the app when I checked in- the employees stated it won't make a difference, but then I got charged for going 11 miles over my allotment... make that make sense.

The employee was able to quickly get me assigned to another trailer an re-issue my contract. Great job! That being said, I will NOT be renting from U-Haul again - having to upload a picture for facial recognition software to scan is a deal-breaker! Your company does NOT need my biometric information and I do NOT trust that it will be deleted. Bye!
DAVID BThe inside of the trailer was covered in mud. The manager said he would give me a discount but it wasn't applied to my invoice. In addition, when returning the trailer the man "helping" made me back it into the spot (not an issue but really inconvenient since it was a 6x12 trailer) and was on his phone while I (yes, me!) unplugged the lights and undid the chains. I had to tell him to crank the trailer off of my hitch. Only comment I got from him was how impressed he was I back the trailer into the slot (I'm guessing this was impressive since I'm female...).

KEITH JI just gave this business a good rating based on. my pickup experience and the seeming ease of drop-off, but then I look at my receipt, and I notice that I have 2. Upon closer inspection I notice that on one receipt they have the correct charge of $111, and the 2nd shows a charge of $183!! I call the location and speak to the manager who takes me on a merrygoround, trying to make it seem like he's doing all this research. I send him a copy if the 2 photos I took, when I picked up the truck and the other when I brought it back and it is so obvious that I brought the truck back with slightly more gas than when I picked it up, but he's still playing games, talking about enlarging the photos. After all the unnecessary time-wasting he tells me that he has to send the claim to some other team for resolution, and that process will take about 72hours!! So, first, you fraudulently bill.me for gas I supposedly didn't refill at a ridiculous rate, and then you want to hold onto my money for an extra 3 days, IF I'm lucky??? Advice: When dealing with these people make sure you give yourself enough time to clear things up and agree on the final charges when returning the vehicle. It'll save you unnecessary aggravation after the fact.
EVELYN DThe customer service at the location when picking up was amazing. The rep made the transaction smooth and easy. However, the return while it seemed smooth was a little too smooth. I have been incorrectly charged for the gas not being where it was when I picked it up which in fact is not correct. I stopped and got gas a few miles from the location to ensure it was on a 1/4 a tank as it was when I picked it up and was still incorrectly charge two separate gas fees. Had I known my truck was not going to be marked appropriately I would have stayed until the return intake was complete opposed to leaving as I was instructed by the rep who greeted me outside.

However, it had not been cleaned out and smelled like weed. We will rent from UHaul again when we need a truck. However, we will inspect the truck more carefully before driving off of the lot.

NANCY WI attempted to return the truck and car carrier to the UHaul location located at 9701 Capital Blvd in Raleigh. They took the car carrier but said I needed to take the Truck to the location at 5600 Alantic Ave. When I took the Truck to the Alantic Ave location, they told me I could not return it there and that I needed to take it to 9701 Capital Blvd. I then took it back to this location and left it there after hours and put the key in the Drop Off Box. This was very, very fustrating after spending 6 hours unloading the damn truck!!!! UHaul needs to get their act together....

IGNACIO CThe young kid did not show me how the straps work and tightening threw the pull down with the ratchet,and when he plug the wires in my truck did not work he said need to see a maintenance man,then he took another wire from a different trailer and it worked, not very pleasant person and the place is very on organized to many trucks hard to maneuver around in that small area never will i go there again.If i use u-haul again it will be the one near wake forest on capitol blvd that one looks very nice and a bigger place.

Karen P | Overall ExperienceI’ve been a customer for several years, this experience has been one of the worst, I was rudely told I didn’t qualify for a free month of storage, “you can buy it or not, but your not getting it for free” when I picked up the truck it was completely empty, had no gas, he did not correctly mark my paperwork, he marked it as if it had a quarter of a tank of gas, again I said hey this truck is empty, no gas “you can go next door and put gas in it, you gotta do it anyway” even though the website said I qualified for promotions, I didn’t receive them, it quickly became “ at participating locations “ even though the location I chose was a “ participating “ location, I could not get the storage unit open, I sat on hold for 45 minutes before someone came and assisted me…this move has already been difficult, but my experience with uhal made it 10x worse.

Counter lady was rude and obnoxious trying to say my card was declined. When my card was fine but they're payment system is faulty and without proper connections. So this particular UHaul on Capital Blvd gets a zero from me.

It took well over an hour to checkin.

It took us a long time to return the uHaul truck we rented, because we finally finished unloading it and the office hours had just ended. The app would not work on my phone at all, so rather than having someone right there that could help, we were on hold for forty minutes with the uHaul company. One we finally got through to someone, we had a forty minute phone call with a representative just to do this process of returning the truck. It was really hard to go through that after being totally exhausted from loading and unloading the truck that day. Overall great customer service, clean place, we were happy. I just suggest to staff one of the good folks that works there for a later shift until 9 or 10 pm.

PEDRO V | Overall ExperienceI never got moved in. 2 days and several trips to the store (check cameras and phone logs) and the lock was never removed from the unit. You don't know this but I'm moving and in the process of looking for a home. Hopefully that search only takes a month or two but with this market it could take up to 6. My stuff will be in storage until my search is done. I cancelled my unit with your company and went to a competitor because of the poor customer service. Your staff was friendly, but they didn't actually complete my transaction. Seriously the basics weren't done and it cost you whatever the final tally would have been for the allotted time I end up needing a storage unit. Your facility is literally across the street from my current home and I'm gladly driving the extra 10minutes up capital to Public Storage just so I don't have to deal with the hassle of your facility. I don't usually offer unwarranted advice but I will here: take 5 minutes and ensure that each customer transaction is actually complete and you'll avoid situations like this in the future. It would have taken all of 2 minutes to remove the lock off of my unit and I'd happily be depositing my stuff there now. Also getting your customers names right is probably important. My name is Joshua James Foots and it was entered as Joshua James in the system. Not a big deal in my book but honestly the first step to establishing a good relationship is knowing the correct name. Especially when I give you my government issued license. I wish you the best and hope you improve so your future customers are better served.
joshua j | Overall ExperienceThey never took the uhaul lock off of my storage unit. I waited 30 minutes when the store was open and then I had to go because I had another appointment. The gentleman helping me said "I'll be sure to get the lock off in a few more minutes" I replied "Great I'll be back tonight to move in". I show up at 8:30ish with my friends to help me unload and the lock is still there. Office is closed, called customer service and they didn't have a phone number for anyone locally. It takes all of 30 seconds to take a lock off of a door. So as far as "move in" goes perhaps once I actually get moved in it'll be nice. Right now this is just a bad experience that is still unresolved.
