The truck did not have 1/4 tank of gas in it, even though the receipt showed 1/4 gas in it. The lady behind the counter told us that it did not and marked our receipt with a yellow high lighter to show the gas reading and said when we return it, make sure it is the same amount as she highlighted. We returned it with more gas than we started with in the tank, but not at 1/4 like in the receipt, and we were still charged $26 for gas because it was less than what the computer said. This was our first time renting a uhaul. Next time I will make sure they change the gas gauge on the receipt before I leave or fill it to the correct line. I found this to be a bit shady on their part.

I didn't catch his name, but he had dreadlocks, was probably in his 20's, and said he had been working there for about 3 months. His customer service was fantastic and he is the type of employee that makes customers come back again.

April SAbsolutely fantastic experience renting a trailer from U-Haul! The reservation process was a breeze, and picking up the trailer was quick and easy. The staff at the Dorchester Road location were friendly and efficient, getting me hitched up and ready to go in no time. The trailer itself was clean and well-maintained, and it towed perfectly. Returning it was just as smooth. Highly recommend U-Haul for a stress-free trailer rental!
TIMOTHY GThe trailer leaked and ruined 20 boxes. Luckily it was mostly clothes that I had to re-wash. The reason I got an enclosed trailer was due to rain this weekend. Very disappointed in the trailer. Staff at rental location were very helpful and they got me in and out in less than 10 minutes . 3 individuals chatted me up and made me feel like family! Great group at Dorchester location and should definitely get a raise

FRANK SI am surprised I was given a truck on Empty I had to go to the Gas station immediately. And left the truck with a half a tank of gas.My destination was less than 3 miles round trip I paid for 20 miles. I returned the truck early it was due 8 am I returned it 10 pm.I woke up to my card being charged $50 I called customer service whyetta to file a claim

LEONARD HThe location and staff where polite and professional but my issue is with corporate. I made my reservation 4 days in advance over the phone. I was quoted a price of $165 and ended up having to pay $308 but before I could even get the rental. They put a hold on my account claiming I owed $820 and the charges were clearly fraudulent as they had not only happened in a different state. But during the dates in question I was in jail. But I was informed that I would have to pay those charges in order to get the rental. I needed the equipment to pick up my wife and daughter so I paid the amount just to do what I had to do. And now I'm working with the fraud department to try and get my money back. But what happened was absolutely despicable it felt like extortion and I will never use Uhaul again and I will be sharing this story on social media. Worst experience of my life almost $1200 for a 10 ft truck and a tow Dolly absolutely ridiculous. Once the fraud has been proven I expect all my money refunded to me immediately or I will be pursuing legal action!!

Lisa SHave to give kudos to Sierra, the CSR that checked me in. She was very patient with me with all my questions about checking in and was very professional. I wasn't having the best day but her patience made me feel better. I realized afterward I should have checked in online before going to the site. It probably would have made it go alot smoother. Also they were very understanding when I had to come back to switch trailers because I ordered the wrong one to load a riding mower. This was the third time I have used this site and they have always done a great job. Oh, the second trailer I had needed a bulb on the passenger side. I hope they got it fixed. Also your way of loading a picture of the truck didn't work on my Android phone. I recommend changing it to be able to load from the phone's gallery.
Frank SDidn't have any furniture dollies to rent. I had to move everything myself so I had to purchase two $20 dollies at the store. Also, purchased a mattress pad which they didn't give me so now my mattress is all messed up. Horrible.

I received no help from the outside assistant (telephone and Starbuck's was more important). This was the first time I rated U-haul only above average. Every rental location used previously was always excellent to better than excellent.

ELIJAH BMy reservation was moved to this location and I did not know about it until the morning of the reservation. I was disappointed because the original location was more convenient for me. There was quite a line of people waiting to pick up their trucks. Took me about 30 minutes to get the truck. The truck itself was fine except there was a crack in the windshield almost the whole length of the windshield. The truck drove fine. Returning the equipment was the smoothest part of this rental experience.

JOHN SEverything was smooth at pickup. It would have been nice to have more time in the yard to inspect and set mirrors but the pickup lane forces you out as other pickups happen behind you. So I had to pull off the road once I got out to adjust mirrors and seat and check the dash. The drivers side mirror became loose the day after pickup but other than that it was a flawless experience.

Thry have even told me I need to deal with the customer in front of me. The place mice or rats. I had to clean belongs as they had feces on them and urine stains. The access is difficult getting up the ramp and hoping to door locking system worked. I moved because I found a facility that is a lot cheaper. Closer to home. Easy back to door with elevators. Spotless clean and fresh smelling. I got double the size single unit for what I was paying for one of two units I had. I used storage from 2016-2024. Almost exactly 8 yrs. I moved due to cost, difficult accessing and teaching staff by phone. Distance from home.

Marie A | First ImpressionsRelocating, was a devastating issue due to covid..from my truck rental issues: redoectinging 3 times forcing pick up in 3 distant cities only to result in a VERY DIRTY AND TRUCK WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES to storage security: theft of unit, AND REPWEST NOT ADHERING TO INSURANCE POLICY CONTRACT , with valid proof of break in and losses...I was denied compensation dispite a validation to theft of my unit by the store manager. Improper documentation of policy incin addition, dec 2021, iI paid monthly storage and insurance increase change, dispite reflection of payment to uhaul with a request and payment for insurance policy increase...and the policy did not reflect my request after several request to management to confirm. But Addotion was taken from my bank card receiving the price for the increase from 5000.00 Coverage to 15,000.00. Also, a contractual 24 hour security and surveillance agreement was also broken. The camera did not effectively monitor or record the premise, nor was a security officer assigned to protect my unit which faced a dark street access and ungated access, A bigger issue is faliurure to properly communicatedid the sale of my unit content...when questioned, Management stated all units auctioned as a clear sale after 90 days if no payment is recieved... my payment was made on Dec 2, 2022 and on Jan 30 2023 I received an email thay my entire contents was sold on the 25th for 65.00... I am more than disappointed as a 2 1/2 year custome. I trust uhaul to safeguard my life possessions and family airlooms. Generally the service is kind and enjoyable.. however to avoid the breech of contract and voiding my account out of the system along with treating me like trash was quite hurtful.. I was so upset I went to the bathroom on myself in the store and now experiencing a depression I have never known. Shame on you as a company

No leaks even during Ian the hurricane- However little bits of insulation was falling on my stuff consistently. The biggest problem I had though was accessing my unit. C12. EVERY time I went to use my unit trucks, pods, moving containers, and shipping bins were blocking the access point. When asking the staff they always seemed extremely putout to help move anything. (Michale B) had the most attitude of all. The worst was yesterday when I was told they “didn’t have the keys to those trucks” with no solution. I have even called ahead to let them know I was coming- and nothing was done. After about an hour yesterday, I WAS able to access my unit, however belong made to feel like a problem and not like a paying loyal customer was confusing. I will 100% continue to use Uhaul trucks for my business, as I do large scale balloon installations- but the storage side of things at this location definitely has so issues to be addressed. Yesterday I had the BEST Customer service from Jena over the phone with customer care. I took photos of the problem, and will happily share them and my experience with Uhaul corporate for reference in hopes this doesn’t happen to future tenants.

Pete K | Overall ExperienceI called U-Haul to secure storage. They told me the location I wanted was not available but the 4788 Dorchester facility had a unit available and booked it for me. When I showed up the next day it took over an hour to get the unit ONCE it was my turn in line. Finally received unit, went to unit and took another half hour for them to figure out that the unit was not available and I would have to go to another place. Wasted well over two hours on a day when I was already running a very tight schedule. The attitude of the gentleman helping me with General Manager on his shirt was one of frustration and total lack of compassion. He didn't know how to work the system and kept blaming me for not telling him that I was looking for the first month free storage. I figured since I had already made the reservation and had my contract with me which was up on the counter the whole time, he would recognize this. Had he asked I certainly would have told him. Also once he verified that there were locks on the locker I was supposed to have he went back to computer, spent a few minutes punching some keys and said, "Yep, I was right. I didn't think we had any storage. That's why I asked if you had a reservation" When he asked if I had a reservation, he didn't know I had one for storage. He asked in general. So if he knew way back then he didn't have storage why didn't he tell me then instead of wasting over an hour of my time. And why didn't he believe me when I said there were locks on the storage. So no, I would not go back to this facility for anything.

An annual thankyou email or something would have gone along way. You have a good product but your customer service needs serious improvement

The round lock I was forced to buy would not work in the lower latch hole so I had use another lock. When I returned a week later I’m locked out. The staff guy refused to unlock the unit so I could unlock my stuff. We finally had to stop all your customers that were waiting so we could force the staff guy to unlock our unit. TERESA M | Online Move InUpon removing boxes from storage, all stored along the cement wall had mold. The boxes on the floor had water damage. We were on the second floor and unsure how they had water damage. Shelving units - the shelves themselves, also had water damage on the bottom and therefore are no longer useful. Given that the price of the units is so much higher than other storage facilities, and our products stored had damage, I would not recommend Uhaul for long term business storage..
