The container holds more then you'd think. If packed properly you can get furniture, beds and plenty of boxes. We were very happy with the amount of stuff we got in them.

Drop off location for trailer wasn't immediately understood, no signage
Carter PaulzineReserved a 10’ moving truck for a 2pm p/u to be returned by 6pm. Upon trying to start the truck, was having issues with the ignition. Tried getting help from staff but they were understandably understaffed on a busy Saturday; however, I didn’t get out until almost 3pm when a staff member managed to come look at the truck. Turned out the truck’s steering wheel and ignition regularly locked up before starting and required a bit of force and effort. That would continue throughout the afternoon and early evening and I felt rushed in having to return the truck. Not the stress I needed on top of moving.

You must have a pretty good idea of how long it will take to install a hitch or whatever on a certain model car. It is not very convenient for customers to be told to bring a car in at certain time and then not be given a certain time that it will be done- only a guess - or many hours later at the end of the day. This makes no sense given that you can control the number and types of appointments each day and there are no walk ins allowed.

They changed pick up time to 2.5 hours later. That was not going to work with my schedule. Emails were not timely about this at all. Therefore your system to rent online is somewhat to be desired.

I had a medical issue come up the day the unit was vacated, and was not able to discuss insurance claims with her as planned. There was a serious rodent infestation issue in my unit creating a lot of damages, additional costs and issues. I was surprisingly still charged for the month, regardless of this disgusting and unacceptable rodent infestation. I realize it was a uhaul pickup and I wasn't expecting spotless, glistening clean but I didn't expect it to be so muddy and just dirty inside. Again, i know we aren't at hertz or whatever, but... Anyway, I armorall'd the entire interior windexed all the windows and gave it a squirt of febreeze just before returning it so the next customer has a sparkling clean g-ride. No biggie really, just wanted to share. Oh and this location really smells like weed AND your app really really sucks! plus the ladies at both the university ave and como ave stores say that your internal system crashes and sucks just as bad as your app - the university ave one said for the last 3 Saturdays the system has froze leaving her with 5-7 customers waiting and she was really frustrated by that... OK that's all.. thanks

They’re not only that they charge me for a late charge when I brought the truck back at the same day And it might’ve been close because the people was just walking out and they told me to put it in the dropbox the key then now I’m getting charged additional $60-$80 for what reason I’m not sure I talk with the lady and she told me something about a late charge And gas when I put gas in the vehicle and the lady said it was only a gallon short so I’m not understanding why I’m getting charged almost $80 when they took $44 out of my account and then turned around and took 20 more dollars out of my account so now I’m getting the letter saying I owe 80 more dollars not understanding

I will avoid U-haul in the future die to their use of electronic system to provide customer service. It is not service. I spent 3-4 hours trying to get a reservation accomplished with their on line system. Never again if I can help it.

I was surprised that there was only one dolly in the inventory. This location is a pretty big location. That action made my moving of furniture much more difficult.

The staff let me wait in the truck I had just rented and drop the keys in the after hours key return. I very much appreciate that, but the location is not near any business that I could have waited for that ride and in Minnesota that could have been dangerous.

My NEW cooking UTENSILS and PLATES were STOLEN and SWITCHED with theirs. EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF TRASH WAS DUMPED IN MY STORAGE UNIT. AND POURED WHITE SUBSTANCE POWDER ALL OVER MY BELONGINGS. UPON MOVING MY BELONGINGS I COLLECTED 5 TO 6 SACKS OF U-HAUL TRASH BAGS FROM MY UNIT. MY BED FRAMES WAS USED AND DAMAGED. SOMEONE BIGGER THAN ME WORE MY CLOTHES AND DUMPED THEM DAMAGED. I ALSO PURCHASED INSURANCE TO COVER MY BELONGINGS BUT IT WAS REMOVED FROM MY FILE. THE STAFF I SUSPECT DID THE THEFT. AND WHEN ASKED TO REVIEW THE CAMERAS WHO ENTERED MY UNIT THE MANAGER ETHAN REFUSED MANY TIMES. I NEVER INTEND TO EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS LOCATION EVER AGAIN. ALSO MY DEBIT CARD IN THEIR POSSESSION WAS UNLAWFULLY CHARGED. THE STAFF AND THEIR FAMILIES DID THE STEALING OF MY BELONGING. I AM ASKING FOR THE MAXIMUM INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR MY STOLEN AND DAMAGED ITEMS.
Susan Frimpong | Overall ExperienceMy early morning pick up of a '15 U-Haul truck was delayed by the fact that front driver's side front wheel was low. It was 5 below zero and the air compressor was turned off. Once it was turned back on, the tire inflation nozzle would not engage with the hose from the compressor. I was offered another truck but that would have delayed my departure messing up my tight schedule. I was forced to leave with the tire dangerously low. Fortunately, the tire didn't go flat. The U-Haul guy knocked $30 off my rental which I appreciated.

RONALD CONLEY | First ImpressionsStaff recommended the incorrect number of boxes. They gave my first movers the incorrect location to pick up the UBoxes, which delayed their arrival time to my residence. My stuff did not all fit and, when I called the office to ask if I could get another box, they said they could not help same-day and were unresponsive to attempting to accommodate or problem-solve - as I was on a time crunch due to traveling between cities, I ended up having to throw furniture away. My mattress arrived filthy, there were pieces of wood in my furniture, furniture was scratched and dented, and boxes were crushed. I had to hire a cleaning service for my upholstered furniture. The second team of movers I hired through UHaul at my new location was unhelpful and did not assist in basic furniture assembly and unwrapping that I have historically experienced with six other professional moves. I have done travel nursing and have extensive experience with moving, and I will not be using this service again.

Katharine ChuteI had asked about locking the 5 x 8 trailer to the hitch since I was going cross country. The employee said unfortunately, it could not be done. Made me nervous all 3 nights we had to leave the unprotected trailer in a hotel parking lot! When I got to Arizona, I said something should be said to management about this dangerous situation. The employee there apologized and said I could have locked it with a pin and showed me the hole by the hitch ball the locking pin would be inserted into. He also showed me how I could have pulled the safety chains attached to the car frame close together and padlocked them to prevent a simple theft of the trailer. Better instruction should be given to the St. Paul employees.

It turned out that our vehicle had issues with the hitch assembly, which the staff found the source of quickly. When it was figured out it wasn't something we could fix then and there, the staff again were quick and real sharp in providing us a solution that proved out better than our initial idea. Very refreshing to work with real people and place.

Kee VangI have used this U-Haul location for a number of years and have had a storage unit here for the last 6 months. My experience today was an unpleasant one. The automatic doors to the bays were not working (none of the three) and I had to get someone to open the bay door for me. There was an open bag of trash on the bay landing that was strewn about. There was a vagrant standing by the entry doors on the landing of the bay (next to where people leave unwanted items) smoking a cigarette and going through left behind items. With all of the newer security systems that were put in place at this location, I'm surprised that the place is allowed to be run in such a shoddy way.

All arrived at the time they said it would and nothing was damaged or broken. Pod delivered and picked up within the window of time agreed upon. Also I opted to have movers listed on the U-haul web site in my area that I moved from come and pack the Pod with my belongings. They were punctual and pleasant and did excellent job packing the pod (nothing damaged!) in a short amount of time. I would use U-haul again if I ever move again. Thank you for being a company with integrity!

All the customers were happy because everyone was courtesy and helpful to one another. You rarely see that. I would've thought that people would have been impatient, cutting in front of one another in the bay, parking lot or returning or renting trucks but that wasn't the case at all, the exact opposite 🤔 I believe that was due to the outstanding reliance and calm of the staff. The knew the answers to any questions and any problems you had they were quick to resolve it. They went above and beyond.

Roderick Emery | First ImpressionsI called the location on Sunday 7/2/23 to advise that I would not be able to start a storage unit that day to to a Uhaul truck mechanical issue outside of my control. I spoke to the PM manager William Wiley. He did not ask for any of my information to pull up the reservation and did nothing to ease the concerns I had about securing my items once I finally made it to St Paul. Upon arrival to drop off the one way truck rental I asked for a manager to discuss and note my file regarding the air conditioning not working for the entire trip of near 500 miles and to let someone know that the truck was not running well. As soon as my son and grandson walked into the Uhaul office the employees were told that they were supposed to say that they know nothing if Lisa asks any questions because she is recording everything. The manager repeated this to each employee by yelling this across the store with me and my family standing there. After unloading the truck I spoke with the PM manager Will who didn’t pull anything up and didn’t seem interested and advised me to go online to submit a complaint. Both experiences were unacceptable and very unprofessional. I plan to move my belongings again asap because they don’t feel secure or safe nor does Uhaul deserve my hard earned money.

The storage company then came along and put their own lock on there and did not notify me in any way. They claimed that they called and left messages they did not. When I told him that I needed the lock removed they then proceeded to explain to me their policy multiple times but I did not need to know. When I had called to ask about the situation one lady hung up on me another one called me back 5 minutes later and told me that it wouldn't be a problem to remove the lock and then someone else called me 5 minutes after that to explain the reason for the round lock. They did try to make me purchase the lock that they put on the locker which I refused. When I arrived at the office I asked them to remove the lock and they refused until a random person claiming to be an assistant manager came along. This company denied me access to my unit for reasons I cannot explain. Nowhere anywhere does it say that I must use their lock They delayed me for a week about a policy they didn't mention, and then while I was getting the lock removed they only gave me one key which means that they held on to the second key for that locker. And of course the person who unlocked my locker told me that they had just recently had about 20 break-ins I don't know why you think any would want to use the service at that location

I called the facility and was told “someone put in and order to clear it out and it had been claimed by another customer.” We had not done this. After a few minutes a woman got on the phone and offered a free month to us for the troubles. But it sounded like our property had already been removed. She said it was still there and we didn’t need to worry. I haven’t been able to get over there this week but I’m concerned things could be missing. How was someone able to close out our account and move our property? Not a great experience. I will ACTUALLY be closing out and removing our property as soon as possible.

They aren’t helpful friendly. Give one word answers and don’t offer solutions or suggestions. One staff person opened the door as my teenage daughter was trying to put the truck key in the return slot after we rented a truck & slammed into her… didn’t apologize, say excuse me or anything. He just looked her up and down like she’d just hit HIM with the door. The storage unit itself was clean, the temp was correct, access was easy & the overall facility was well maintained, besides their always being u-hauls & the same vehicles parked in the loading bays leaving only 2-3 lanes available for customers. That said, regardless of the facilities - the terrible staff here mean I’ll never use or recommend this location.

I received an email from Ethan weeks later saying there was overdue balance and the unit was not paid for which was false since it was already taken care of. I am very unhappy with our experience here and would not recommend anything other than buying boxes.

That and the lighting kinda sucks when the light on the rows are on it's still way to dark in the units but what sucks is how short the timer is on them. Having to go out of the unit and jump around just to trip the motion light was very inconvenient. But the staff is awesome here, the place is very well maintained, and it feels very secure, not once was I worried about my safety or my stuff.

I am from out of state (Las Vegas NV) so this decision was stressful for me, but they made it easy for me to come to a firm and resolute decision. Josiah even lent me his personal tool set so I could socket wrench apart some of my pieces for storage. This is by far one of the cleanest UHaul Storage facilities I’ve ever experienced. Every staff member I encountered seemed happy to be there and eager to help. I particularly appreciated the loading dock option and the 24 hour access indoor garage loading option to keep me out of the 5 degree snowy weather. I highly recommend this facility.

I do realize that the hours are in the email that is sent but after spending 2 straight days moving a lot of people are not going to read through the email they just want to get finished with their move. Other than that the the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the location is clean and security seems to be a priority. There were also plenty of carts to help get our belongings in.

floyd thurston | Overall ExperienceThis store on como ave in Minneapolis/St. Paul area is advertised as a 24 hr storage unit, so I got there at around 7pm right as the office was closing down for the day, yet I managed to get service and I got to rent a unit for my stuff. However as I was wrapping up my move, I still had just a couple of things to bring when all of a sudden the door locked on me and couldn’t come in anymore having to leave a lot of my stuff unattended all thru the night and Im glad nothing got stole, but I feel like this happened because any of the ppl that worked there did not tell me anything about it. That is not even the whole problem. There is a phone number on multiple signs that say to call the gm for after hours service, but the phone would go straight to voicemail making this situation a lot more frustrating and unnecessary that it needed to be. I even called costumer service for help and they couldn’t even reach this guy and or couldn’t help me at all. I wasted over 3 hours dealing with this that day and at the end I just gave up and left only to come back in the morning just to secure the unit I just rented. You guys need to be more clear about you overnight policy or at least tell your customers about it. That didn’t have to be as frustrating and difficult like it was that night/morning. Thank you

When I rented the truck and took advantage of the storage unit deal, I asked specifically about 24 hour access. I knew that I would be moving late into the night so this was important. I was told I had 24 hour access. This was not the case. At 10pm the dock sliding doors locked me out. Here I was with a partially loaded truck, carts in the passage near my storage and my storage door open with no access. I pushed the After-Hours intercom button, no answer. I called the After-Hours number for Matt Underwood, no answer and directed right to automated voicemail. I then called the customer service number, obviously no answer there. I then called the alarm company who was able to give me the number to someone else, This person did answer and was able to grant me access. He did explain however that 24-hour access is a PAID service the I did not have. This is something that should have been explained by the counter rep who checked my out. I don't have to explain the stress and concern this experience caused me Since obviously I couldn't simply leave. Perhaps this can be used as a coaching opportunity for your employees.

ALSO EACH STORAGE CUSTOMER MUST RECEIVE A LARGE PRINT.COPY OF THE LEASE BEFORE BEING ASKED TO SIGN IT. LAST COMMENT ....hire a Minnesota lawyer to look at your Lease. Although the rodent bait traps are present in each unit, I still found a considerable amount of mice droppings inside my unit. Having the normal entrance blocked off by construction makes it difficult to access, which isn't really an issue but it would have been nice to have an announcement sent out with instructions for alternate route access or at least better signs directing people where to go. I wasn't able to reach the office by phone so I had to drive all the way there to get answers. Matt has always been helpful and friendly but it's iffy otherwise. It gets the job done but it's not worth the high price of the unit especially compared to the other options in the area.
