The staff was way out of line at the counter and on the lot. Your policy with a driver's license that doesn't scan with a phone camera (it works just fine at TSA) is pretty silly. The agent called a number I provide, with a name I provide, has no way to verify any of it and collects another name and number that I could just make up, but it somehow solves the problem of my license not scanning is just preposterous. I was annoyed with this as it seems entirely pointless, and then the staff decided I was out of line for being annoyed, keeping in mind I never insulted anybody, never said 1 word about the people doing their job, never cursed, but I think was understandably frustrated with what seems like an arbitrary process that involves other people I know in renting a truck they don't have anything to do with. When we went outside, the gentleman going to get my truck told the GM of that location to please pull the truck around "so we can get this jackass out of here" which is absolutely unacceptable. As a customer being inconvenienced by a policy dragging random other people into my truck rental, I was frustrated, and your staff thought that was unreasonable, but then to call me a jackass, to my face, I would like to say that if the tables were turned and I had cursed or called any member of the staff a jackass the GM would have been justified throwing me out on the spot but let us be clear who was hurling insults and continued to push me when the problem was getting resolved and indeed, this jackass did just want to get on his way. Negative 10 out of 10, absolutely unprofessional staff who told me "Just don't rent here" as a solution. Pathetic. If I can admit that crossing a line and personal attacks should warrant me getting thrown out, the GM needs to consider his staffing choices.

MICHAEL PI don't think this location caused the problem, but I had specifically reserved a trailer at a specific pickup location for a specific time and the that location is just minutes from my house. I had a confirmed reservation email from Uhaul, but when I arrived at the location that I had selected and presented the confirmation email, I was told that my trailer was at a different location on the other side of the county - 30 minutes away at rush hour time. The clerk at the first location was indifferent to the problem and just told me that I had to go to the other location.

Austin SI have rented trailers from this location before and never had a problem. This time, the 5x8 trailer I rented had a problem with the left wheel. It vibrated slightly at first around 40 MPH, but seemed to smooth out over 50 MPH. As the day went on, the vibration and noise got much worse. I'll always come back to this location, I just wanted someone to know about the problem with the wheel.

I Found Several Times, What Appeared to be that Our "Lock" on the Unit, had been Tampered with (As if Someone was "Attempting" to Gain Access. I brought this to Management's & Employee's Attention and was told that According to the "Rental Agreement ", the Facility is NOT Responsible for "Lost, Stolen or Damaged" Property". I made numerous attempts to resolve this issue with the Facility, inevitably ending in the Facility "locking" me out of my Unit and Selling my Possessions. I am filing an Action against this Facility for recourse of what is Clearly a Case of "Retaliatory Conduct". If You take your chances with this FACILITY, Remember...You were Warned. Basically my entire plan, which was to get the biggest uhaul I could and move my things from st Pete to Daytona. The man booked it but said I’d have to get it at a different location. When I picked it up 2 days later I again explained what I was doing and where I was going, and they asked how many miles I estimated I’d need to be driving. 150 miles. One way from st Pete to Daytona. So when I delivered the car to the uhaul store in Daytona I was surprised to find out that I had been given an in town only vehicle and that I’d need to drive it all the way back to st Pete or risk more fees! That’s ludicrous. They never told me there was even such a thing, never told me the drop off location. I would have caught that. And if I told them I’m driving 150 miles, then I couldn’t possibly have driven 300 miles total to get it all the way back to st Pete. And then be stranded in st Pete without a vehicle when I picked up my entire life and drove it to Daytona. I filed a dispute and was told I would hear back from someone within 72 hours. No one eve me contacted me. They just charged me a wrong drop off fee like 2 weeks later. Also before I even turned the vehicle in, they had already charged my account for the deposit when they specifically told me they would not charge my account till I turned the truck in, so my bank account went negative. And lastly, that piece of shit truck didnt have a working outlet to plug my phone in, so my phone died and I was unable to charge my phone even after getting lost. So I had to drive this monster truck around trying to find my way before stopping at a gas station and charging my phone on the wall outside of a gas station so that I could get the rest of the way home, to Daytona. Y’all fucked me over several different ways. Fuck yall.

THOMAS HOverall horrible experience. I was emptying out a storage unit so I did the day rental where they charge by mile. I recently got out of the hospital so I had to hire movers to load/unload the cargo van. I reserved the van a few days a head of time and selected 8am as my pickup time. I then scheduled the movers for 9am. When I got to the location I reserved the van at, at 755am, the woman said “oh, they should have reached out to you, we don’t have a van here. We don’t guarantee the location of the equipment you rent. If you still want the van you need to go to the downtown store”. I asked if there was anything we could do because changing stores would add about 25miles to the trip. I was being charged by the mile so the change would cast me a little over $25. Also, having to drive somewhere else would mean that I would be lying the movers to wait for me to get there. She replied with “that’s all I can do. We don’t guarantee location.” She then said I could have a nice day and took a phone call. I stood in the store a second and then walked out to my car. I called the 1-800 number to see if they could help me. The guy that I spoke with apologized several times and said he would transfer me to the reservation department to help me. I was transferred to the department in charge of the opposite side of my state. The woman there said it was because no one in my region was answering, I had been on hold for over 15mins. She informed me that she could not help. I ended up driving to the downtown location, picking up the van around 845am, getting stuck downtown in traffic, getting to the storage unit where the movers were waiting at about 10am, and the extra hassle caused by Uhaul caused my estimated (quote from Uhaul) $65 rental to cost $112. Maybe the extra cost isn’t a big deal to Uhaul but I just got out of the hospital. I was there for several weeks in the intensive care unit. I will never use them again. If you are looking for a upfront, honest, and respectful interaction do not rent here.

The front suspension and steering is in need of being replaced. the joints are very loose and allows the vehicle to stee off to one direction or the other without warning. In addition, it takes a over amount of correction to get the truck back on center if you are able to recover from the over correction. Suggested to the person that assisted with the return that the truck br removed from their fleet.

BRADLEY Erude, UNDERSTAFFED, 10 ppl in line 2 u haul workers, i reserved a 10' truck the day before, the clerk that waited on us was quick to ignore questions, she explained the rental agreement so quickly and would not answer questions and when she did it was in a huffy tone. when we were escorted to the rental truck it was a larger than what we wanted, she said we don't have a 10' but we noticed 2 in the yard we reserved the day before, we explained we only had 2 pedal bicycles to be moved she said ( i m not dealing with you and walked away!!!!! she told another worker you deal with them !!!! we figured she SHE COULD NOT BE BOTHERED WITH US!!!! now with the wrong size truck which used more fuel, and the gas gauge read less then 1/2 a tank but 1/2 was recorded on the sale agreement so increased fuel consumption, wrong fuel gauge reading an a (do not bother me !!) attituded it was not a pleasant rental experience!!!!!
PATRICIA BHad a rental pick up at 8 am but was not assigned a truck despite having plenty of availability in the lot and it being a 24/7 truck share place that had the option of mobile pick up during non office hours. Lost money as we had to wait for employees to come in at 9 and had movers already arrived for 9 am. Multiple people also in line before they opened with the same problem. If you are the biggest uhaul in the area and offer mobile pick up, you should be able to do pre assignments the night before and have more key lock boxes. Central call center was also zero help and extremely rude.

JOHN BThe owner of the establishment is an absolute jerk and possibly a racist, I was told that I had to take some forced insurance coverage on the truck that I rented it was only $15 however, I will get my people to look into this and we’ll be seeking remedy, this is my thought process. I think the owner is pressing these types of unusual business practices for profit. I use the online app to set the reservation. I was given the opportunity to decline that forced $15 insurance and I did however , when I arrived at the location, it was forced on to the agreement. After declining it online.
AZRAE'L DCheck out rep never told me I would be getting a text to verify mileage and gas. But noticed gas was 1/4 tank instead of 1/2 tank and notified them immediately. They changed my fill up requirement to 1/4 tank; however, it wasn’t until I left the property that I realized the mileage was off by 35 miles. I called and spoke to someone who rudely told me I should have responded to a text (that the rep never told me about) and that they couldn’t help. When I told them about the gas corrections and that I could turn around to handle mileage too, they told me not to worry and that we could correct the mileage issue the next day upon return. I returned the truck overnight and called the next morning, and was rudely berated and questioned as if I was a liar. The rep wouldn’t listen to the chain of events as they occurred, contradicted the person I spoke with the night prior, and made it seem like I did something wrong. She rudely dismissed any attempt to communicate and told me to call customer service instead of helping. I tried to remedy the blatant errors at this location in good faith the day of and morning after, and was made to feel like I was lying about something. Very very unpleasant experience that I will be sharing with my clients and colleagues unless a resolution occurs. This location provided a truck with falsified gas levels and mileage (according to their own paperwork), 2 very rude and dismissive reps, and one checkout rep that was courteous but failed to inform me that I would be receiving a text which required action.

Storage areas/unit left a bit to be desired but they came in super clutch when I needed storage STAT so ultimately I am very appreciative of this location. It was clean and the storage room was spot on with the green zip tie and green tag with date recorded on it. It was a fairly secure building except for a few creepys hanging around…but every place has its own. All in all great job to the GM and staff, like Joe Shoen says “we have the TAj Mahal why go any place else”.

Also appreciated someone showing me how to get in after hours.

At first they were ot going to give me the free month. Because of the mix up I could not set up an account. As they never answered the phone, I had to go to the store to pay for the extra months needed. When I was ready to leave, the elevator (only 1 at the facility), was broken! They laughed and said they didn’t know when it would be repaired. I wa very upset. The manager told me he was offended that I blamed him! Well,he is the manager! It was a strange reaction. Keep in mind, I was paying more rent because I couldn’t move into my new home because I could not get my furniture out of storage. This went on for 2 weeks! The manager did comp me a truck to move my furniture once the elevator was fixed. It did not cover the additional rent but I was just happy to be out. In addition, I had to go down to check on the elevator because again they didn’t answer the phones and no one called me to tell me it was fixed! Very poor customer service!

Colleen M | Overall ExperienceGot the code to let me into the maximum security storage facility wasn't told that I had to check in using the code at this particular access point then I can use the door key pad but after that was explained to me I had no problems the staff was polite and courteous and even showed me to my storage unit and how to use my code to access the elevator and when I asked for a security card to let me in the door instead of using the code they gave me one without a fuss and told me if I have any problems questions or concerns please feel free to come to the desk and ask it may cost a little bit more but it is definitely worth every penny. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone especially those who value their possessions.

jim a | Overall ExperienceThe facility itself was secure. However, I reached out to customer service and got the main number as the facility ALWAYS transferred its phones to the main number. You can never reach the facility itself. The main uhaul could not answer my question and assured me that the manager of Tropicana field would return my call. He/she never did. I was supposed to get a free month of storage as I had rented a truck within the last 12 months. (Mine was actually within the last 6 weeks). The customer service reps at the main number checked my qualifications and assured me that I did qualify. The they charged me at the facility and when it was questioned, they said that since I didn’t rent the truck ‘from a certain distance’, I didn’t qualify for a free month. I’m Scratching my head over that loophole. Not even quite sure what it means. The facility itself was fine. I made the reservation through uhaul central since you can never reach the facility itself. On the move-in day, the facility told me that they gave my storage unit to someone else (we were there at 9 am), but, they were able to come up with another for us. Why did they even bother to tell me that? The place is chaotic but my belongings were safe in the end.
Patricia M | Overall ExperienceI arrived at Uhaul at 8:15am. There was only 1 employee working. He was very slow. There were 3 people in front of me. By the time I got up to the counter it was after 10:35a.m. The Uhaul employee had a nasty attitude and was unprofessional. He was very condescending with myself and the black woman who was before me in line. However, his demeanor was totally different with the two other guys/customers that were in front of the line. I had to be to work at 12 noon but due to waiting 2 hours to get and having to store my items storage I waisted an entire day and had to miss work. I also reserved a storage unit and it was too small for my things! I had to get another storage elsewhere. This was the absolute worst experience I ever had. I would never recommend. I should be accommodated for inconvenience and lack of professionalism. This experience was horrible. // Later that morning a woman (Uhaul employee) arrived around 11am-11:30am. Her attitude was totally different from the man earlier that morning. She was very professional. But unfortunately the bad experience I had earlier that morning with the man who was at the counter trumps that and made my entire experience an absolute nightmare.

So many homeless folks come up and ask to help you, so I felt uncomfortable leaving my truck unattended to load up more for fear of my things being stolen. The elevator was also miserable to use if anyone else is moving at the same time. Anyone above you will come down with a full load and I waited 5 minutes for two rounds of people to unload the elevator. When it’s 80 degrees in that breezeway 5 minutes feels like forever. Overall I’m glad we had the option to keep our things here, but glad it was temporary. Everyone who works there is very friendly and accommodating.

If you have a question and call the store you will be on hold for at least 30 - 45 minutes. Frustrating because it is in a great location and always has a variety of trucks and equipment available for your move.

I recently moved into a larger dwelling and when I unrolled the rug there were larvae all over and a great deal of the rug was damaged, possibly destroyed. This was a family heirloom that apart from monetary value, had great sentimental value to me. I'm heartbroken this beautiful reminder of the home I grew up in and 3 subsequent homes of my own is so damaged. I've never seen a single instance of this during my 25 plus years of owning and using this beautiful piece in my home. I'm greatly upset about this and heartbroken.

The Tropicana staff worked fabulously with me during a very stressful time and gave me everything they had for space. The manager, James Beck, made things very reasonable in terms of cost adjustment. patricia d | Overall ExperienceAfter being a loyal customer for nearly two years they decided to increase my rate, even though they still advertise and offer the same rate to people who are currently signing up. So they basically try to squeeze more money out of customers who have been there a long time, but continue to offer the same size unit to new customers for the price I had paid all along. I guess they are banking on customers being too lazy to move out. I called and left a message asking to discuss the issue with management and he never even took the time to return my call. Apparently U-haul is more interested in short-term profit than brand/customer loyalty. I found a very nice, brand new storage unit nearly twice the size (10x15) less than a mile away for basically the same price I had been paying U-haul. I may have no choice but to use the services of u-haul at some point in the future depending on where I am, but I can certainly tell you that it will never again be my first choice. I will shop around and likely pay more for a competitor's services if they are available before I ever resort to using U-haul again because I don't want to support a business whose business model is designed to "reward" customer loyalty with predatory practices.

david a | Overall ExperienceWe received two one month rentals after moving to the area but were told that we could only use one of those months because the first month would make us a customer voiding the second month. After finally agreeing to use one month we went after store hours to pick up some items from our storage only to find that there was a staff lock on our door with a sticker stating we were being locked out of our unit due to failure to pay. This was only 2 weeks after setting up everything with the one month free! When the staff put that lock on they put a second sticker on our lock, stating that it was an invalid lock yet it was the same style lock that the staff used to lock us out. At no point during any of this were we informed that the lock used to secure our belongings had to meet specific criteria. We were also never informed that we had been locked out of our belongings unit arriving after hours only to find we couldn't get in. As a result we were forced to make a last minute scramble to empty our belongings from the unit before the month ended.

We needed to downsize and there was not a smaller unit available at this facility so we had to go elsewhere. The only other issue that ever came up was I was in the hallway on the first floor just asked the office and sometimes they would have deliveries that were stored in someone blocking my entrance but the staff will always take care of it for me.
