Had a problem with closing out one of my units being completely closed out but Tina and Nyame in customer service along with Uhaul Tropicana staff got the problem resolved in a very timely manner. Been using Uhaul for years. Very pleased with the service. Hopefully I am now officially closed out of this particular unit and am able to move on.

I’ve used Uhaul moving & storage countless times over the past 30 years and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had with them. The location was very convenient and less than a mile from my new condo in Downtown St Pete. But most of the staff with the exception of Dan couldn’t answer very basic questions and would refer me to Rico who is the General Manager. There were no light bulbs in the overhead lights in my unit, so finding specific items was a challenge. The worst part is that I was paying a premium for climate controlled storage and they put me on Floor M where the HVAC system cannot keep up with the Florida heat. The temperature range is supposed to be kept between 65-85 degrees per the agreement, and often times it was well over 90 degrees on that floor. It got so hot in my unit that some of my personal belongings like plastic bins, Tupperware, cups, etc. actually melted and were ruined. I spoke to 3 or 4 different employees about this several times and received some ridiculous comments like “it’s really hot outside” or “that floor has a lot of windows, so it gets really hot up there” or “we’ve had some issues with the air conditioning system”. Each of them referred me to Rico who is the GM of the Tropicana Field location. I was paying almost $200/month for climate controlled storage and if I wanted my stuff in the heat, I could have rented a cheap storage unit that wasn’t climate controlled for about $75/month. I had some very expensive electronics, artwork & other items in that storage, so I contacted Rico since he was the Manager to discuss the situation. He was rude/obnoxious and had no interest in trying to resolve my issues which are obviously serious concerns. In fact, this idiot actually hung up on me during our call. He needs better interpersonal communication skills and and intense training on how to interact with customers. At this point, he should NOT be customer-facing and Uhaul should be looking for a replacement that is capable of training the staff appropriately and dealing with customer complaints. I’ve already contacted Uhaul to provide some feedback, so that Rico’s Boss (Mike) can address the situation. I’ll also be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I am still unpacking boxes, and may need to file a claim with Rep West based on my assessment as to the extent of the damage. I moved all of my stuff out of the Tropicana Field location, and I’m getting another storage unit at a Uhaul location about 10 miles away. The location isn’t nearly as convenient, but I won’t do business with the Tropicana Field location as long as Rico is the Manager there. Thanks, S. (St Petersburg, FL)

Hey can you.. “sorry sir I don’t know” “sorry sir I can’t help” what is the point of having staff if they are just there and don’t know anything. They probably couldn’t even run the register wihout a finger in somebody’s back pocket. Would I recommend, ABSOLU NOT, I paid 200 a month for a 9x10 unit. My buddies pays 85 for a climate controlled unit of the same size with somebody else. U Haul is over priced, and the service you get is that you don’t get any service. I remember when I loved in there were two employees (at Tropicana field storage) badgering another employee to the point of frustration. They got this employee so frustrated I thought he was going to hit me as I was moving in. Because I needed help and they were all too lazy to help so they yelled and holered for this one employee even though he was eating lunch in a back room. I honestly feel like they should lose this location it’s just horrible. Not to mention the outside always smells like pee and Homeless people.. all in all not kept clean, and all in all a horrible experience as a customer l. Stay away. Cube smart is cheaper

I was told I had one month free, signed up for one month under the impression it would be canceled after the one month, but then charged for a full second month. I went the day I received notice to try to remedy the situation and was ganged up on, yelled at, and told that there is nothing I can do even though I was completely moved out. NO HELP was given. NO heads up was given about a secondary month being added.
