Evaristo M | First ImpressionsMy phone calls have never been answered at actual location. Have been to location and place is dark and closed with no one working. I was not told there were no elevators for a second story. I paid for climate control and this building is a warehouse with minimal fans or AC it’s 80 degrees inside and it’s not even summer yet. It took me 20 minutes to find my unit because there was no one there show me and it’s a huge confusing multiple building place with no clear directions. Once I found my unit it does not actually look like 10x5. And there is a giant RaT Bate house taking up a foot of space. This does not look promising!!! And because I live 7 hours away I had no one way to see this in time to cancel and go with another storage facility. Now there are no available units at other locations because college move outs have started. This is a huge disappointment 😭but I am stuck with it. Good thing I got insurance because I have a feeling everything will be molded 3 months from now.

When he was informed that we had signed a contract for the truck we were offered first month free on the storage unit. He stated that his paper work/computer information indicated no such arrangement I asked him to have the free first month agreement confirmed by the time we unloaded the truck. By all accounts that has now been corrected. There were ample moving carts to use at the facility

I was then given the run around by U-Haul customer service from 1pm to 11pm trying to get a replacement truck so my move could continue. The location was not the issue. The customer service was. I would not recommend U-Haul and their services to anyone after how I was treated and neglected. I have tried to escalate my issue twice with no response. Fingers crossed I'll hear something after my third attempt.

Kimberly M | Overall ExperienceWhen I initially tried to get a storage unit no one at the facility was able to enter my info in the computer. I was told to come back the next day. The next day I was issued a unit at another facility, when I returned to the store they wanted to argue that they didn't have accesses to any other units! When it was discovered i was issued a unit at another facility they wanted to figure out how that happened instead of taking care of me! I wasted too much time just trying to get a unit that I was unable to use the truck to move my belongings as needed! I did ask about compensating me for my time, they told me they couldn't do anything about that! Then I received a message days later stating I owed money on my rental. When I went to the store the computers were down! I told the lady this was normal as I was never able to solve any issues on my first visit. I went on to tell her about being issued a storage unit at the wrong facility.... she told me it wasn't possible! I told her what happened and she refused to believe me, literally argued it couldn't happen! VERY RUDE!!!! All around a bad experience!!!!

Phattariyawadee WIt was dangerous for U-Haul to rent a unit to me with NO LIGHTING. I had a full truck waiting to be unloaded and had to provide my own battery-operated light to ensure the workers' safety and allow the workers to unload and store my belongings. This delay cost me $350 with the moving company and a half-day in my time!!! Calls were forwarded by the local office to the U-Haul national call center and they were unable to reach a local manager. Their only explanation was that they were waiting for a part, a new sensor. According to another tenant, the lights had not been operational for two weeks. I had rented the unit immediately before I arrived at the local office. They had to have known there was no lighting and rented it to me regardless.

As soon as I confirmed and paid for moving help, uHaul wanted to shift the rental across town, and I said no. The day before I was supposed to pick up the truck, I was sent an email confirming the truck would be available where I reserved it. When I showed up, they told me there was no truck, and uHaul knew that and always does this. I was given an address to another wrong location. At the second location, I was given a third address, when I arrived there, it was unmanned, even though the hours posted said it was open. I called and spoke with a very unprofessional person that talked to me like I was stupid, telling me to use the app since I booked it with the app. When I finally got the keys to a truck, it was below empty; the first thing I had to do was go to a gas station. I was already an hour behind schedule, with six people waiting for me to arrive with a truck. When I opened the back of the truck, I discovered there was no dolly that I had booked with my reservation and was charged for. After returning the truck with much more gas than was in it when I got I called uHaul; the first person I spoke with transferred me to a local, regional manager number that rang 20 times and then disconnected me. I called back once more, and the person (Maria) was very helpful and understood why I was so upset with my experience, she promised me that I wouldn't be charged for the dolly and would receive at least a $50 reservation guarantee credit on my final invoice. My final invoice doesn't reflect a $50 guarantee credit, and I was charged $7 for a fantasy dolly that made moving boxes by hand a pain in the back. To say the least, myself and six other people and I were inconvenienced during my rental, and will never rent anything from uHaul at any of the Gainesville locations ever again.
Leslie GNightmare and I will be calling for a refund of some sorts. Booked in Newberry, FL for pickup at 9am. No trucks, no call to inform me of no trucks. Contact gave me a reservation for Main St location (10miles opposite direction). Arrive at Main St, 1 person working on a saturday and a line. Meanwhile, I have movers scheduled at 10am, for 3 hours, roughly $600. It's now 9:30am. Finally another employee shows up and what do you know, NO TRUCK HERE! Why would Newberry book me with no truck yet again. No I'm sent to 13th street 15 min away. Arrive there and the store is not even open, it's all phone based. Nice if someone told me this. it's now 10:15 no truck. Movers are waiting at the house. Finally after nearly another 30min of madness and speaking with customer service I get a truck. I lost 1 hour and 10 minutes of my movers time. I want UHAUL to reimburse me not only for my missed hours but also the BS I had to go through.

Alexander AThe location is fine but the truck are not clean at all. If you are going to have someone use your mobile pickup, you should at least have someone clean the trucks after its returned. The only reason i will not go back or tell anyone else about this location is due to my personal experience. I rented this truck and the inside of the truck had marijuana and tobacco all over the cup holders and the floor of the truck. I also took pictures of this and submitted on the report before and after i dropped this truck off. Then I find out that Uhaul is charging me a 25 dollar cleaning fee for a truck that has never been cleaned. This is the third time I have written this in a review to UHAUL and still no one has reached out to me or responded to anything that I have said. Using the mobile pickup is a joke, I would rather use the time I spent typing and going through the app with someone in person. At least you know someone will be able to see if any drugs are in the truck and probably save someone from getting in serious trouble before leaving the facility.

Nicholas FMileage and gas was off in truck and app won’t let you change it. I submitted proof to uhaul and was still charged for wrong mileage, and not just a-little, almost $1000 worth of miles I didn’t drive. Self pickup shouldn’t be an option if you can’t maintain correct information. Bed of truck was also full of glass from previous users. Worst experience ever.
COURTNEY EDisappointed that my rental only had 1/4 tank of gas - per the odometer I only had approximately 85 miles to go before empty. Moving is already stressful, picking up a rental truck and finding it to have such a low level of fuel was an unnecessary added stressor.

KENNETH BFor about 6 years, there was no staff on the premises. I could never talk to a real person. About 5 months ago, my unit got broken into. Some guy stole my autographed basket ball by signed by one of the Harlem Globe Trotters and other things like my jewelry that I still have not gotten back. This experience was absolutely horrible. The ceiling is leaking throughout the place which is an electrical hazard. This place is not safe.

Only con was that I did see a roach crawl into another unit while we were moving in. Luckily, all of my things were stored in plastic containers which we shook out thoroughly upon move-out.

When the end of June came, we went into the office to get everything set up, to be told that the unit we reserved was not available. What’s the point of a reservation? Anyway, that’s not this office’s fault, so just make sure you call this office’s line ahead of time to confirm what is available and what isn’t. This office was very helpful in finding us an accommodation any way possible. The only reason I didn’t put 5 stars is because our storage unit’s light was out, but they did tell us that before they rented the space to us, so they are transparent and were only trying to get us SOME space to use so last minute.

Melie NThis review is not about the location itself - which was fine, but about the pickup experience, which was miserable. I had selected the Main Street location for my pickup but got a call the day before stating that I needed to use this location which added miles to my trip. The only thing I asked was if the location would be open and was assured it would be. That was false. I had to use the UHaul app to try do the rental. The app sucks. I had to retake the picture of my license 4 times for it to accept it. The location feature wouldn't work correctly and I had to restart app multiple times for it to recognize that I was at the pickup point. The gas and mileage on the truck was wrong. The pickup experience took 45 minutes using the app and my prior experience with the app is why I wanted to go to a place that would be open.

In June, I walk into the office on the day of my reservation to sign paperwork and to receive the keys of my storage unit, only to be told the facility didn’t have what I reserved available. What? What is the point of a reservation, then? Absolutely ridiculous and inconvenient experience. I will NEVER be using u-haul again. I hope Laken and Phillip find jobs within a better company.

I felt bad for the front desk staff having to put face forward to a situation they had not created. I will never do business with U-Haul after this. Can’t have this level of unreliability during a moving situation.

Sherri C | Online Move InYou don’t have a choice in using the app because no one will answer phone or be at the location. I called in reservation for one location and they set me for another. It took me over an hour and a half to pick up the truck. Drop off was really easy but you have to take 20 pics before they will close you out.
Robert IIf zero stars were an option, I would have given 0/5. We rented our unit from you for almost one year straight, and payments were always made on time if not in advance. After this experience, I am actively turning away all friends, family and anyone else who asks from your company. There was zero lightning in our unit, and the hallway where our unit was located had a single lighting fixture in the middle of the 60 unit row, of which only worked about half the time we visited. The hours posted for allowed facility entry wete 7am-10pm, but about half our trips out to try to get into our unit were met with locked doors or broken keypads. All of these times were within posted entry hours. As for security, the reason for us deciding to leave is due to our unit being broken into and some of our furniture items broken as boxes/totes destroyed. I still today have had ZERO notification from U-Haul about this occurrence, and I fully believe if not for the Alachua County's Sherriffs department contacting me directly I would know nothing about it. In talking with some of the other victims, it was discovered that this has happened multiple times in the month of March alone, and we were not notified. According to several of the managerial staff we have no right to know that the facility was breached and our possessions were not as secure as we had been lead to believe. They only contact those units directly affected at the time. Well U-Haul, I am still waiting for my call. I am sure glad I never stored anything too valuable with you, and if I did I never will again. All of this doesn't even bring up the way the "fixed and secured" my unit after the break in. We were assured by the GM Garien Banks that they had a repair tech coming out to fix the door and lock on our unit. As it turns out, that guy was the GM, who decided it was an acceptable way to fix our door by taking the part of the lock that had been ripped right out of the wall, knock the pieces of destroyed drywall off the screws and place it right back into the holes the lock had been ripped out of. TALK ABOUT SECURE FOLKS, if it wasn't such a poor and sad attempt it could be funny. Keep your day job Mr. Banks, handy man is not in your future. I would comment on the rest of the staff, but outside of the day the sheriff was there doing the investigation, I have never once seen a staff member on site. Calling the number provided always was forwarded to another of the Gainesville locations, and if you managed to get someone of the phone the answer to any questions I had was they could only be answered by Mr. Banks, who I suppose was to busy to ever return any of the messages I left for him in the duration of our rental. I sincerely hope this review keeps anyone else from the misfortune of doing buisness with you and your company, I for one never will again.

SETH T | First ImpressionsFirst- there was NOT A SOUL AROUND to assist you even though the hours on door indicated they were open at 8 am. Second - the self check in process is ridiculous- I have used a U-Haul self service before and this was overwhelming. Lastly, the front drivers side tire was so bald there was ZERO tred- I took a photo. I returned the truck an hour later because there would have been NO way to safely haul a load. I paid for a truck I couldn't even use- and who do you tell- obviously no one because THERE IS NOBODY THERE WORKING. I would not recommend this location at all.

This facility should be permanently closed. The staff person I reported this to sounded amused with my level of concern about the unit.

TORY BOffice Hours as displayed on website as well as at the location are misleading and wrong. Staff of the only available UHaul office on a Saturday in Gainesville, FL was not helpful at all. Facilities are in disrepair and seam abandoned.No furniture dolly or cart was available at the storage location and local staff was not willing to help. Will advise all friends and acquaintances to stay away from UHaul storage!

The young man working at the main facility center was of no help by stating there’s no managers available today youll wait till tomorrow. We explain the situation and told him we need it today and he said too bad. Finally after a family got mean with him the manager picked up a phone and said someone would be out in 30 mins. All in all we waited an hour and a half to get my items that were in a 24/7 storage facility. All to find out there were no carts inside as advertised and had to move everything by hand through the halls.

I didn't say anything bc I was not keeping it. I gave it away bc the place my friend was going to it would not fit in her new place. It was a fairly new mattress when I put it in the storage unit but when it was taken out it was water stains all on the bottom of the.mattress. it was unit 14 on Williston road in Gainesville Florida if any one is interested.

ANDREIA RTruck wasn’t ready or at least we weren’t informed the location which was NOT the location we wanted was unmanned and so had to do remote check in 20 minutes from our chosen location and then charged the mileage to and from there. Not fair. Then we had to go to another location to pickup the appliance dolly we ordered. The whole experience was the worst ever and we have used uhaul many time in the past few years. We didn’t get any credit for any of your mistakes and will not use or recommend your services. We got started an hour late due to your inadequacies.
Michael BConsidering that it took me 2 hours to get my truck because it showed I had a previous balance which I did not which left me behind in my move when I had to meet some one at that location to receive my furniture lucky he was patient and stayed so there fore I had limited time to move and the help I had could not wait so I had to unload truck myself I’m 61 yrs old was not very pleasant This will be the last time I ever use uhaul and I still have a storage unit in Baltimore that I will be moving it looks like I will be using Penske they are cheaper and have much better customer service. It was not the locations fault so don’t hold them accountable it’s your corporate office for not updating their records and for it to take two hours to resolve whole I had my 90 yr old mother sitting waiting in car for that home I was not happy. Sincerely a former lifetime customer!

Denise JDear uhal, previous person that used my truck transported animals. The truck was clean, but it was smelling terrible. After used your truck, all my items were smelling disgusting. This is make my experience poor and I had to pay the full value for a truck in a bad condiction ($70).
Luis FAfter completing the return of the truck online via my phone there was a request to pay for extra charges that WERE NOT told to me when I paid for a flat rate, one-way service. Then, I had to dispute the charge which was incorrect! This seemed very unprofessional.

We spent from 3 pm to 7:30 pm sitting at the (unstaffed) facility. We were on the phone with customer service all that time. Twice customer service hung up on us. We talked to higher and higher levels of supervisors, until finally someone was able to override the system and get us in at 7:30 pm. Then there was no lock in the unit, so we had to go get one at another facility before it closed at 8. As a result of these delays, we were unable to leave as planned Friday afternoon, and had to spend the night in Gainesville. I will be requesting reimbursement for hotel and meals, plus list wages on Saturday. This was a horrible frustrating experience on many levels for many reasons. I will not be a returning customer.

Cheri S | Overall ExperienceThe day I booked our unit, I went to check in at the location and no one was there. I called and was told, for the first time, that it was a satellite location that no one worked at and I needed to go across town to check in. Then, the next day when we were going to move in we were told it had not been cleaned out yet and it was not ready. They had no units of the same size or larger, so we coordinated two smaller units but never received email confirmation. I then realized they had selected two second floor units, which was not feasible for us (we booked a first floor unit initially). I had to go back to the main check-in location and they had to call someone in to help me because no one had access to the system and the person working at the time didn't take any of it seriously - he actually laughed at my issue. Thankfully, the person who could actually help me told me, after I complained, that surprise! The original unit had just been cleaned out and ready. So I load up my truck and head down there, and the code to get in doesn't work. I call back and fixing the code will take 15-20 minutes, which was incredibly inconvenient because I was already in a time crunch due to the unit swapping. Called back and was put on hold for another 10 minutes while they got us a temporary code - a code that only worked on one door, and not the door closest to our unit. We finally get inside, and the entire place looks half finished. Bare studs and busted dry wall, poorly covered holes, and no lock in the unit even though one was promised to us. There was no ramp to get inside the building, there were at least one or two steps everywhere, and we killed a number of large roaches in our unit as we loaded in. This was a awful, frustrating, nightmarish experience and I wish I had another choice for storage because this is the worst. 0 stars.

carlos mNo one prepared the uhaul prior to us arriving. As it is a mobile only location, when we arrived and tried to check-in, we received the message that the location does not open until 9:30AM (it was 10:30AM) and could not proceed any further. We called the Uhaul number as this was not a manned location and waited on hold for 20+ minutes to be connected with someone. They gave us a larger sized vehicle which we did not want. Then our rental time wasn’t even extended despite having a 40 minute set back that was not our fault.

James MThe facility itself is a dump and falling apart. Tech rarely works, half the lights don't work either, even when the motion sensors have activated. There were multiple occasions where we were unable to access our unit due to technical issues with the outer door locks, and the office manager was NEVER there, and if he was, he was less than helpful (Idk maybe it's the rain lol, not my problem"). Office was pretty much always locked with lights off. Super unhelpful, very rude. The manager at this location also called me THE DAY BEFORE MY MOVE, a whole month or more since I made my reservation, to tell me my truck rental was canceled/lost and that it "wasn't their problem" and I "shouldn't have been able to rent a truck for an extended period" even though their website allows it. The organization and communication between stores is absolutely pitiful, and caused me to have to drive back and forth between locations multiple times in one day, both because keys and files were missing from the storage location, and because the office manager of the storage location was nowhere to be found. Absolutely unacceptable. Horrible service. You've lost a long time customer.

Garion was very pleasant and tried hard to accommodate us- I have no complaints about him or his staff.
Diane P | Overall ExperienceIt was a struggle to even find a storage unit. We had to buy one that was 2x or 3x larger than we needed. When we first arrived to the unit, the entrance gate was open and out of service. The facility wasn't secure, but our unit had a lock on it. We went to the office during office hours and no one was there. It looked completely abandoned. We called with no response. We had to wait until the next day to access our storage unit. We had to call a different location to figure out how to get into our locker. Luckily, we were using our own trailer and not a rental. We would have had to pay for another day of rental fees because Uhaul screwed us by renting a unit we couldn't access and weren't in office or reachable during advertised hours. We never got a response from the storage unit managers. They were never in office during hours and never answered calls. Our entire experience with Uhaul was a fight and struggle to find information and fix the issues caused by Uhaul associates. When we tried to cancel our storage unit rental, no one at the desk knew how to do it. They took my info and said the manager would cancel it for us. It did not get canceled and I was charged for another month. I made FOUR calls before it was fixed.

So, here is an opportunity for you to learn and don't worry, I am not going to blast Social Media like our young adults do. Positive: I was not expecting 1 month free rental. Due to various things, I could not load my items in Sarasota so you were kind to reschedule storage for next day. Location was convenient and away from congestion that GNV faces daily. Negative: There was no one to answer my 2 calls on original scheduled reservation between 1p & 4p. Goal was to notify and move the move-in date 24 hrs later. When I got to GNV around 5.30p, office was closed but I was given an access code so was able to get in however, I did not know where unit 210. Laborer waited 30 minutes while I tried to solve the problem. Call to corporate directed me to N. Main St location so went over there to unload. I was turned back and told there were no storage unit at that location so had to come back to 4101 SW 13th. I had to call corporate and bounced between different department to finally obtain a map of units. At this moment, it's been an hour and clock is ticking on 2 hr reservation I made for Movers. I was told that Lock will be inside the unit but it wasn't there so had to run to nearest store to buy one. Unfinished walls, no lights working inside storage unit, unclean unit and I found black togo box for food inside which may be left several days ago and leftovers were rotting. After long day, I was tired to make another call so unloaded my materials and left. Movers went into overtime by 23 minutes. Now, only thing I am requesting is an additional month complimentary and we'll call it even. Contact me at 850-766-5808 if you have any questions. My reservation for a unit was canceled without notice. I went to 2 different sites to find it and called 4 people until I was finally told it was canceled. Had to rent a unit 3x as big for $100 more because it was all that was left. Got to unit during office hours to find it locked and noone in the office to assist. Had to call 2 people to find out the guy wasn't available and we would have to drive back the next day. No one told us this and we wasted hours during this entire ordeal. The security gate to the storage units is also broken and wide open. So anyone who can wander in break into units. I never want to deal with Uhaul again. Everything about it was frustrating. Storage, picking up truck and trailer, and dropping off too. HUGE waste of time running to different locations because no one was communicating.

BETHANY J | Overall ExperienceI have one phone number, as do most people. Requiring an "alternate phone number" is anachronistic. Further more, I live alone. Requiring me to provide personal information about someone else is not necessary and invasive. Also, on the website it was not indicated that the storage facility is five miles away from the facility where I made the reservation. Very inconvenient. Also, the door at the site remains open for 5 seconds, maybe less, which means that when I get the items I am storing I have to gather them from the truck then free up a hand to swipe the access pad, place an item in the doorway while I gather up the items I put down. You could at least give me two minutes! None of this was convenient at all. Matter of fact it was a very frustrating end to a long and difficult moving day.

Had problems with auto billing, which caused late fees and a lock placed on my unit. I had to write a check for 2.5 months payment before it was actually due (yet somehow worked when I showed up a few days ago?!). I still got failure to pay notices. Called your 800# and was hold 4 times for 30+ minutes, but gave up before actually talked to someone who could help. Please double check that my contract was canceled. Hopefully, you fix your issues.
Bryan L | Overall ExperienceWe were supposed to have an air conditioned unit and had a reservation. Upon arriving we were told they had no more air conditionef units and they gave us an inner unit that was not climate controlled. It was a pain in the neck to move into because we had to go down a flight of steps which meant we had to load up the carts, unload them and reload them at the bottom of the steps. The actual unit itself was disgusting in my opinion. It had no light and it was very difficult to see. The ceiling tiles were missing in several spots and the ceiling looked like it was about to cave-in. We only needed storage for three weeks and at that point, we really didn’t have much choice and had to keep everything here temporarily. The outer door to get into the unit was not locked. When moving in, they told us there was a lightning strike and that the door was broken. Three weeks later when we arrived to move everything out it still had apparently not been fixed. This facility looks like it was built in the 1970’s and has not been updated or maintained. I would not recommend this facility.

In my section, none of the walls are painted (bare drywall and mud), and all the unit doors are unpainted masonite board, and the door latches are held by a few bolts on the outside of the units which are very unsecure since the bolts can easily be removed. Also, I paid for climate control but it is is not climate controlled below 80 degrees & no detectible air flowing. The CSR at the NW 8th Ave. who assisted me was courteous and helpful but I would not say he was friendly.

I’m going to have to rent a third storage. I’m not happy and will be calling corporate. I also wanted a unit that was outside so I could just pull up to it. The ones I got are inside and the building smells like pee and stinks really bad. The rent is expensive for what you get. I’m not worried that all my belongings are going to absorb the smell. This is the worst experience. Unfortunately what choice do I have. I am moving 1700 miles across the country and have to store my belongings until my house is ready. I would never recommend Uhaul storage to anyone.

I thought I was talking to a friend, my husband is in ICU on a respirator due to this Covid 19 and I had to move all by myself. The anxiety unreal, but Cindy soothing words put my troubled mind at ease. Had it not been for her, I would of had to dropped off the truck on another location irregardless that i had committed to a 10x30 rental and condensed my life down to a two bedroom apt. We are people in need of service for we have lost our homes, lost our jobs, life has brought us to your doorstep and for some, our life in condensed to a 10x10, 10x12 storage space. Be aware of this when you are talking to us but most of all have a little compassion, you service the public! The other UHAUL Reps I spoke to yesterday April17,2021 before I spoke to Cindy were men, one left me holding for ten minutes after he said he couldn't do anything even though I had explained my situation and decided to rent a uhaul storage for the convince of being able to drop off the truck at the same location, he placed me on hold and didn't come back, so the call rang to Cindy. I suggest you clone Cindy and see how you will become the neighborhood go to place for moving/storage and truck rental.

We attempted to call the office on Main Street where we picked up our access card but never got an answer. We had to drive back to that address to tell them the unit was locked and then had to wait for 30 minutes for someone to come and unlock it. The unit was dirty and there was easy access to the neighboring unit into our unit. Upon clearing our items out and returning our access card we were told someone would check the unit. We later received an email stating we were going to be charged for the free month of storage. We called and were never able to speak with anyone locally so I had to take time during my lunch hour to go by there. 3 employees were there and were rude and unprofessional but provided us with a zero balance owed receipt.

Darlene H | Overall ExperienceWe rented one of your 20' trucks to move out. It was a great truck and the ramp was perfect Julie was pleasant and efficient. However there was one problem. We only drove 5 miles and put in $5 of gas at the end. But we were still charged $4.90 for a 1/4 tank of gas. We were told at checkout by Julie that the truck was not full. We returned it at the same level. She says it was an automatic charge. I strongly feel this should be removed from our bill. The number access system is a little confusing too. I went to the bathroom, went into the secure area, and tried to open the storage door. It showed me as checked out. So I had to drive to the front again and re-enter the numbers. That seems a little confusing. Please respond about this bill to cindylynn13@yahoo.com. Also there was no toilet paper or paper towels in the bathroom when I was there Sunday morning. Then I have to wait another 20 min for the assistant manager to come fix the gait. I then have 13 min to unload everything before we get locked in. The absolute worst experience I have ever had with renting anything. I will be requesting money back tomorrow.

Facility and everything else was great. Card entry very convenient. Would rent again.
