We went to the truck in the trailer on August 3rd, we picked up the truck at 11:00 in the morning they said to come back at 5:00 p.m. trailer. We were there at 5 minutes before 5:00 and the two people that were working there literally locked the door and waved and walked away. Then a young kid that worked there that was outside started arguing with this whenever we showed him the receipt that it was paid for the tow dolly was paid for and he said we were lying and I said he needed to shut up, and he threatened me with gun violence and threatened my 13-year-old son.Then came 2 hours of being on the phone with six different customer service reps about this situation and what they did. I ended up having to move 3 hours away leaving my car in that city, and going back to get it two days later costing me tons of extra money in gas paying people to help me tow it. Dislocation and this certain experience with you all has been one of the most horrible things in my life. I literally was trying to rent a truck from July 30th on and there were no trucks in the state of Missouri so I ended up having to pay $200 more rent to stay for another week, and then you haul people have to cost me more money. I demanded both of their names and of course they wouldn't give them to me so I'm sure that if you looked anywhere with a brain could look and see who was scheduled then and probably those two people are the ones that did it because they're the ones the closest store. Right now I'm fighting for my refund of the tow dolly. And because of all the hassle and everything that I've gone through I'm also requesting a refund on the entire cost of the truck. Maybe these people should treat customers like they matter. Especially when all they had to do was give us a trailer. So I really think that this location needs a lot of changing, the management needs to train its people, and the people need to have some damn common sense and not treat others with such negativity when they're already going through a hard time. Moving is hard it's stressful people get angry. But The employees at this U-Haul store in particular they all just need to be fired. I have one of their license plate numbers and car identification have a picture of the one that threatened to pull gun violence. So I will be submitting everything to corporate or whatever I have to do. Because the company like this doing this to little people like us when we're the backbone of what they are obviously because it's not their employees sterling standards. It's the customers that make the company and this company has forgotten that. Refund me my trailer amount and refund me the amount for the truck. Total it's $435. That's cheap compared to everything that they cost me Do not do not do not go to this location to rent a truck trailer anything. And if you do I hope you have better luck

Jordan was a fantastic employee that helped me when my care was not ready on time. The assistant manager however was very rude the following day and rude to his employee who was simply just trying to help a customer with their reservation that was a different rate and late for their reservation. More staff on site to help out also seemed to be needed for traffic.

Dear U-Haul Executive Team, I am writing to report an alarming and deeply distressing experience I had on August 1, 2025, at your Columbia, Missouri location during the attempted return of my auto transport trailer. Location: U-Haul Moving & Storage 800 Bus Loop 70 W Columbia, MO 65203 General Manager: Jauan Scott Prior to my arrival, I was advised by the Chicago South Loop location that I could return the trailer to any U-Haul location in Columbia. However, when I arrived at this location, I was met with immediate hostility, aggression, and threatening behavior from Mr. Scott. Despite calmly explaining what I had been told, Mr. Scott raised his voice and insisted I was wrong. I then contacted the South Loop manager and placed him on speakerphone. Mr. Scott continued to speak in a condescending and combative tone, even with another U-Haul representative present on the line. After 35–45 minutes of escalating tension, I called Orlando, a Chicago-area manager, who confirmed that this location was appropriate for the return. Mr. Scott was aware of this, yet he remained confrontational and aggressive. Worse still, I was intimidated and frightened. Mr. Scott approached me in a threatening manner, and I felt unsafe. My husband—who is a retired law enforcement officer—was forced to intervene due to his concern for my safety. A nearby customer even asked if I was okay because the situation had become so visibly disturbing. In addition to his behavior, I must add that Mr. Scott appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. His speech, demeanor, and aggressive actions were erratic and deeply concerning. I have never experienced anything like this from a U-Haul employee—let alone a general manager. As of today, I still have the truck in my possession and am supposed to return it. However, I am now too afraid to return to that location, despite it being the closest. I am also disturbed that Mr. Scott has access to my personal information, including my home address. That is how unsafe and shaken I feel after this encounter. I am urgently requesting the following: A full refund of my rental charges due to the trauma, fear, and inappropriate conduct I endured. An immediate phone call from a member of your executive team. This situation is serious and time-sensitive. I can be reached at 773-874-1090. Assistance arranging an alternate drop-off location where I can return the truck without having to interact with Mr. Scott. On a positive note, I want to commend Fred, who helped unload the vehicle from the trailer. He was calm, courteous, and professional throughout. Please acknowledge his exceptional service. Attached are: – My rental contract and return receipt – Business card from Mr. Jauan Scott I urge you to take this matter seriously and investigate immediately. I lost my stuff bc I couldn't afford to pay the amount of money that was supposed to be paid for the storage service. Let me elaborate on my experience... First and foremost I went to the store on Sexton Rd in Columbia MO. and picked out my unit size under a New employee and thought everything was settled. Just to go in and try to make a payment just to find out the employee had given me a storage unit that was bigger then what I had initially signed up for and when I questioned the agent about it I was told that there was nothing they could do about it bc my stuff was already in the unit. No apology or anything. The service at that time was very u empathetic and I tried to give them the amount that was owed and they would not even take my payment bc I was told they don't take partial payments..they needed the entire amount . Like I said no response to the fact that I was given the wrong size unit which was more than what I could afford. Annnd I had moved out of town due to my spouse passing. The weather didn't allow me access to come and make payments and I had a job that I couldn't afford to take off from and come to Columbia and whenever I did plan a trip the weather would not permit me. It has been a very emotional year for me to lose all of my belongings things that I could not get ever again. Then upon talking to a Supervisor concerning my termination of my storage I was given a date that was not even the correct date. I was told my stuff was going up for auction on the 15th well I didn't have time to come back it cost tooooo much for storage unit and I just feel sick to my stomach in regards to the service I received ....oh and your link is always unavailable future reference

Highly recommend this U-Haul location, there are so many factors that go into moving but the employees here made the truck rental process the smoothest part of my move. Taylor assisted me with my check-in and truck return and she was an absolute gem the whole time! She was super personable, kind and has a great personality for working with the with the public. She was very confident and knowledgeable and seemed like she genuinely cared about making this process an easy one. Will definitely be back for my next move!

The gas tank was not full and at drop of there was no clear instructions on where to park the truck or where the key drop off was. I wondered around the dark parking lot trying to figure it out. I finally found the key drop off in the middle of the front of the parking lot and a dark spot not clearly signed or well lit.

Location did not have the equipment I reserved so they upgraded me to a larger truck that I did not want/need. They did not have the enough dolly’s or furniture pads as I requested. One employee was extremely distracted, unprofessional, and unhelpful while the other was personable and efficient… I unfortunately dealt with the former for the majority of my experience. Despite having a reservation for noon (and arriving early) we did not leave this uhaul location until 12:40. I would not recommend this location in terms of accuracy, efficiency, or customer service.

The gentleman that helped us was efficient and quick. What was the worst is there was a significant ant problem in the trailer. We didn’t notice the ants until the uhaul was loaded. Thank goodness we had the mattress covered and sealed. Sprayed the seal where I think they were coming from. I believe that helped to not get many in our unsealed boxes. Had to go through each box when we unloaded to make sure we didn’t bring ants in.

Great customer service….this is the busiest location I have ever seen! Only reason I didn’t rate EXCELLENT is just because they are constantly sooo busy. They are doing WHOLE LOTTA “above average” service which is no easy task….they’d just need a lot less customers to be doling out excellent service… I hope that makes sense……a whole lotta good vs just a smidge of excellent!

Employee said that the system was down and they could not check the trailer in. Said they would check it in as soon as the system came up. Two days later I get a call asking if I needed to extend the rental. I explained that I had already dropped it off and was told that they would k it in as soon as the system came back up. Employer then said she would check to see if the trailer was really there. Thank goodness I took photos when I dropped it off. Trailer was eventually “found” and checked in and I wasn’t charged any additional fees, but turning the trailer in could have gone smoother.

To make sure a pick up point is active. I was to pick up in Mexico, but the location was not valid and had to pick up in Columbia which put me behind over a hour. The truck itself was great and I should have gotten the 20ft instead of a 15ft.

The only thing I would change is the unit requested. The unit I was assigned was an indoor entrance which was nice to stay out of the weather bc while organizing the unit but carrying items through two doors and down that hallway was not ideal. The carts supplied were a lifesaver but next time I would request closer to the end of the building or an outdoor access unit.

I did not like having to provide a copy of my drivers license and a photo. I have been renting from U-Haul for years and never had to have my license and a photo stored in U-Haul. Databases. I understand presenting photo ID but not for UHaul to keep.

My unit was paid up until August 29,2024. No one tryed to contact me from u haul they told my son who was not on the lease agreement I was the only one on the lease I should have been contacted. They're saying I owe u haul $57.00 I'm not paying it they owe me money. I'm contacting an attorney and see if I have grounds for a lawsuit against your company. I paid every month and I should have personally been notified you where overlocking my unit!!!

The storage was fine the truck rental however charged nearly 3 times what we were told. Also claimed a cleaning fee even though we used the same truck as a month before and it was in the exact same shape as when we dropped it off including the 2 hand print stains that were on the windshield the first time we picked it up. They claim the cleaning fee will be refunded but as of 2 days later it has not.

The employees are very rude. I was put on autopay by an employee without my approval. I called once and talked to the manager and explained to him that my rent would be late, I asked him not to run my card payment because the funds wouldn't be there. 5 days later my card was still charged causing me overdraft fees. I called back and he reversed the transaction which took 4 days and then I was charge more late fees. They are incompetent and don't communicate well with eachother. I was paying for a gated facility but sometimes the gate was wide open and within the last 6 months the gate had been removed. I wouldn't suggest anyone use this facility.

I have used this storage facility for a full year and every transaction has been smooth and convenient. From the manager on down, all employees work above and beyond. On my moving day Octavious was a god send! All obstacles came my way and he help me every step!

When I was moving stuff out of my storage one day I forgot a box sitting out and they put it inside and made sure it wasn't tampered with that box had my bank account info in it thank God for the staff noticing the box and helping me out I would strongly recommend them

A number of things. First, we did not have a code to get into the secured area where the storage was located. So we had to wait until the one guy working there came over to punch the code in to get us in. Then we drive in and head to the back where the storage was located to find a lock on his door. So I drove back out of the secured area to find out you needed a code to get out! We had no code. We could not communicate with anyone because there was no one around. The call button on the code pad did not work so we stood there waiting for about 30 minutes until some guy loading his own stuff outside the gated area went and got someone for us. So then we got out and had to wait for another guy to figure out how to get the lock off. That took another 20 minutes until he finally found a key. Then he gave us a code to use to get in and out so the rest was ok.

We went in to pay for a unit and had it all set up. Later, we went to the unit to start putting stuff in and it was locked. There was a lot of back and forth before we were given a different unit. Through all the confusion, the man who finally fixed the issue was very helpful and courteous.

Was never able to log in online to pay my Bill, was told my email wasn’t in the system yet I received an email about a late fee. Every. Single. Time I tried to go to my storage unit there were huge uhual trucks blocking my unit preventing me from getting things I needed.

For whatever reasons, we were unable to access our unit for 2 days because the storage facility and the parking lot at the u-haul center was overflowing with u-haul trucks. We were able to get in if there were staff there to move trucks out of our way, but the route to the storage area entrance was blocked off by trucks for 3 or 4 days in a row, severely limiting our ability to move our items out of storage after work.

The only negative I can say is that the unit’s lighting timer is too short. It’s well lit for about 5 minutes and then it goes off. The unit is very secure and very clean. The staff went above and beyond to make our move easier. Tammy, Abdul and Cam are the best! This is a great location and I highly recommend.
