DECORIYAE M | Online Move InI originally had a reservation at another location in town to pick up a car hauler at 7:45PM. There was no car hauler, they advised me to go to a secondary location that also didn't have one before I finally arrived at this location, thankfully I went to pick it up early or I wouldn't have known I needed to go somewhere else. Then the system went down nation wide and I had to wait until the next morning to pick it up, which put me behind by a day as I planned to drive through the night. However the manager of this location and the young man were both very helpful and very professional, so kudos to them, I know the system going down made their job much harder.
PHALEAN PI reserved a 15' truck to pickup at Vestavia. The day before pickup, I was notified I would get a 26" van to be picked up Uptown. The service was poor. It was raining, and I was given a key to a truck in the front of the building. I got soaking wet to determine the key did not open a truck in the front. Turns out the truck was in the back of the building. Very poor customer service and working with me on this rental. Was told the truck I reserved was extended by earlier rentor. I asked if the replacement truck could be brought to Vestavia, only to hear U-Haul didn't have employees to move the truck around. I guess it is totally acceptable with UHaul for the customer to be inconvenienced.
SAMUEL KKristen was great. She was very kind and patient with me. We forgot the dolly we rented so she called me back on my cell phone to tell me about the dolly so I could immediately turn back to get it. The location is very clean and the staff were courteous
OGE AI paid $20 for a team member to secure my vehicle on the tow dolly, and he told me I was wasting his time since he was “about to get off work” and continued to press for a tip. I gave him $10 in cash because i felt bad. Ends up, he didn’t secure the vehicle on the dolly with the chains nor the tethers and my came off of the dolly on my way to my 3.5 hour destination.

RYAN MThis was my second location for pickup after Ramada near Birmingham Airport was unresponsive to my on-site check in with the front desk clear, phone call went to voicemail, and I waited 10-minutes for "Tom to be in touch." The 28th St location was very clean, organized, and allowed me to use the restroom before loading my trailer. I would happily rent from the 28th St. location again.

No communication within and between the local staff. Zero phone skills. First delivery attempt failed bc driver incompetent with fork lift. Unnecessary Storage fees resulted. Delivery driver was belligerent and used foul language. Did not retrieve box on correct date. Would not use U-Haul in future, no way to run a business. Arizona staff was seemed competent and well trained.

ERIC ODenescia was absolutely AMAZING! She was so kind, thorough with the whole process, and really just a rock star employee. How she worked between both registers to accommodate multiple customers was just simply amazing! I cannot say enough great things about my experience and it was all because of her! I will always get my uhauls from that location now.

Matthew ROn Feb 16th I rented a trailer and the uhaul employee failed to properly secure it to my vehicle causing a harrowing accident on I-20. The manager from this location has made zero effort to contact me to resolve the situation and my insurance company is wearing me out wanting to know if they should proceed with the claim or let uhaul take care of it. I have had to do entirely too much leg work to resolve a situation I should not have even been put in, a situation that nearly cost me my life. I've been very patient for over a week but I am very upset now. My desire to remain non-litigious about this is slowly evaporating.
MICHAEL NUpdate the hand trucks ur renting. Oh yeah make sure you have the equipment before you let someone rent it. The store in centerpoint alabama needs new employees.

I paid for 24 hour access to my storage unit which I desperately needed to ensure I could use it at my convenience since we were moving. Well when I arrived to store all my furniture and everything else into my storage the card read access denied. It was around 10pm when this happened. How dare you all charge me for 24 hour entry allowance but me access when I go to use it. Because of this ALL OF OUR ENTIRE HOME IS STILL SITTING INSIDE THE U-HAUL TRUCK, when it should be inside storage. The following day my family and I left for our pre planned vacation as planned but now ALL OF OUR ENTIRE HOME IS SITTING INSIDE THE UHAUL. I recorded a video to show that BOTH of the access cards you all gave me were not allowing me to enter that night. On top of that I now have the U-Haul truck rental sitting at my home, which will have to sit for 5 days because of my pre planned vacation that I am currently on.

I arrived and as my storage rental was processed I stated I needed to gas up the truck., the agent stated that I should wait until after moving in the unit. Note: A lock was not provided in the unit as the agent stated it would be. Which caused additional delay as we spent time searching for a lock I could use amongst my belongings to be stored. Wed already had to return to the check in counter as we couldn’t initially access the floor the unit was on. Note: I’d was told when booking my unit would be in the first floor. Yet learned once there it wasn’t available. Do to circumstances I we just decided to go with a smaller size unit. I was then charged additional for an extra day after yet again having issue with your app not functioning properly, multiple times it didn’t recognize your location as the correct location. Then required repeat uploads, with it requiring us to restart the process repeatedly. It’s too much of a hazel to rerun a truck using your app.

She called the fairgrounds Birmingham location and asked if they could hold a dolly for my to pick up and bring back once I returned from moving. We went to the fairgrounds location and it took 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged. We were only acknowledged because my fiancé went to the front desk and approached the customer service representative. The guy at front desk was very rude and said no one had called their store requesting for a dolly. We wasted gas and mileage traveling to their location for a dolly we never received. Communication and customer service should be better.

There was only 1 young lady running the store when I was trying to handle my business and she was in training. The manager should have never left her alone. The store is handled in a very unprofessional manner. I was charged the full amount for my account even though the manager reassured me I wouldn't. I am a very dissatisfied customer.

Duane F | Overall ExperienceMy storage unit was locked within 20 days of me moving in due to an employee failing to put my rental in the system although I had a physical contract. Even after verifying that I was occupying the unit, an employee still failed to update the information which resulted in my not being able to access my belongings. Even after they realized it was an error in their behalf, the manager called me later that day to tell me it will be a lock placed back on my unit due to a balance of over 1k even though I had only occupied the unit for 20 days and the 1st payment was not yet due. She hung up in my face after telling me I had an attitude with her about MY belongings. They realized it was THEIR error again and the manager argued with me on the phone for 30. I immediately got in touch with the area president who immediately saw it was their error and did not understand why the manager would be callling me at all. The employees are 100% incompetent, unprofessional, and have no desire to learn the systems to work effectively for the customer. Would not recommend this locations.

Shade A | First ImpressionsOffice staff were fairly helpful. Units felt like they were in a safe environment. But when it comes to the actual units, I cannot provide any positive feedback. Unit is marketed as climate controlled but is basically at the same temperature and humidity as the outdoors during the summer. We also had water damage in our unit which led to mold on several books and textbooks. I would not recommend this storage facility to any friends or family based on the quality of the units.

The facility was always clean! I'm glad that they are expanding at that location to offer more storage. My only change I would like to see is maybe adding a netted covering over the storage units because over time the fallen debris from the old building and bird poop gets on your stored items.

Acted like they couldn't rent a truck out when they had 4, had no problem reserving one online and walked right back in. Was mad I was 15 minutes late and still had 3 trucks left. Trying to charge me for storage when I moved out of my unit 1 day after payment was due and did notify them of my intention of moving out and rented the truck from them but won't cancel my unit so they can try and get more money out of me. This is a game to staff they even laugh at giving people issues as if moving isn't enough already.

We fingered it out eventually and got everything moved in. The carts at the door were convient and it made the storing stuff faster than moving out.

chris l | Overall ExperienceThe storage part of the store closed early one night and was locked when I brought a full load ready to unload at my storage unit. I had checked the hours online, as well as called the location to confirm the hours, before I went to load up my trailer to bring to the storage unit. The employee I talked to on the phone informed me that it closed at 7, which matched what it said online. When I got the storage unit around 6:40 the outside doors were locked. I called the store and talked to the same employee, and she told me that it was closed and that she never said it was open til 7 and that I would have to wait until 9am the next day. I begged and tried to plead my case on the phone for them to just come open it for a few minutes so that we could unload our stuff. They refused and argued back. Terrible customer service. They then locked the doors to the store and said it was closed too so that we could not talk to them in person. It would have maybe taken 10 minutes tops for us to get everything unloaded and into our unit. Instead, because of that employee, I had to bring all the stuff back to where I had gotten it and unload it and wait til the next day to do it all over again. Pretty ridiculous, especially after I had called to confirm the times just to make sure nothing like that would happen. Cannot support this location in the future with employees and practices like that
John C | Overall ExperienceWas told the storage units were open til 7pm on Saturday’s when I signed up. Called around 5:30pm on Saturday just to make sure facility would be open til 7 and also checked online. Was told 7pm again. Showed up with a full trailer of things to put into storage around 6:40 pm and the door to the storage entrance was locked. Called the front office and they told us they close at 6:30 and they said that they never told us they close at 7. That was only the beginning of the rude conversation. (I know the workers were just trying to skip out of work early.) They also then locked the doors to the main area so that we couldn’t talk to them in person. Because they wouldn’t allow us the couple minutes to unload all of our stuff and put it into our storage unit, we had to bring it all back to where we got it from and unload it again. Will have to do it all over again at another time because of the employees. Because of this, I can never recommend this location to anyone.
