HECTOR VDropping off at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Charter Oak in Covina was a breeze. The location was easy to find, and the self-return process through the U-Haul app was super convenient with no wait time. Everything went smoothly, making for a hassle-free drop-off experience. Highly recommend this location!

Robert P | Overall ExperienceRental was reserved and upon pick up, the keys for a different vehicle were left for me. It took about 45 mins to locate the correct vehicle, and contact the office to swap over the old vehicle information to the new vehicle. The person kindly extended my rental an extra 30 mins. My rental was from 8pm-12am, I didn’t leave the lot until about 8:50pm due to the inconvenience. Thanks for leaving out the extra 20 mins i wasted. This is the second time I’ve been disappointed in this specific location. Thankfully I’ll never have to come here again.

DAVID JWe will never rent a U-Haul or tow from this location. The associates who helped us “attach” the tow hitch were extremely unhelpful and incompetent. They refused to help or give guidance and inspect it before we hit the road for a 900 mile move. Halfway through our trip one of the tire straps completely fell off the car we were towing and we were unable to fix it. When we got to the drop off, the employees at the U-Haul location were astonished at the chain and tire strap set up. They told us the car we were towing could have easily fallen off the tow. We are extremely lucky to not have experienced a worst outcome with serious injury or fatality. The employees at the Covina at Charter Oak location should be given training on how to provide help to customers when setting up a tow hitch so this does not happen again as there could have been a major accident. They were supposed to give us a free inspection and that did NOT happen.

Jeremy was extremely courteous, pleasant and gave me clear information and answer my all my questions with patience. Thank you for allowing me to store my belongings for 3yrs. RICARDO PI had originally asked for a double door trailer. When I got.there they didn't have any left, only the role up door. I'm disabled and this made it very difficult to.get in or out.of.the trailer. They told me they would save the double door when I reserved the trailer, at pick up they said they don't allow request, it's first come first served. The representative did not tell me that. So I had to crawl in and out do to my spinal injuries and knees that are both in need of surgery.

IVAN TWhen I returned my U-haul truck and went home I noticed on my bank account that I was charged an additional fee of $325.66 besides the $72.17. I immediately called and they said they entered the mileage wrong. They fixed the problem but seriously they just be more careful.
LINDA VCustomer Service rep was very Rude at location, He did not want to take responsibility for the truck not being ready at 6 am Monday for early pick up, when U-Haul's corporate call center instructed me that it was not setup, and they could not dispatch it so we could get on the road. Please do not offer a service online or in a app. if people really cannot use it.

MICHAEL ZThe man at the counter was very professional and helpful. He navigated U-haul's website for my rental contract and return. Hooked up the trailer and provide a comprehensive walk-around for using the trailer. Also provided a safety check of the lights and trailer before leaving. Best part was one person assisted me from beginning to end.

EFRAIN RBecause you tried to charge me an extra fifty (50) miles. Unless I showed the counter person the time stamped pictures data (from my Apple cell) showing start and ending miles I would be charged $124.00+ billing instead of $88.10 actual total final cost. Keep your books straight. The counter person was very professional and no blow back. My savior here was my Apple cell pictures. Sad to say I had to use the pictures. I have always used this company but now leaves me a funny taste in my mouth.

Yolanda STruly a horrible experience. Our first truck, break light was broken needed to return. Drove back to the location but they told us drive to another location to exchange the truck. Signed a new contract at a different location but they lost the key and couldn’t find so we couldn’t use that truck. Then decided to go back to the original truck with the broken break light and wait for them to fix and install a new break light which then I had to sign yet another contract. We were given no instructions and received zero sympathy or regard for our extreme inconvenience. We did not receive an original link to validate license, mileage etc. Then the third link to validate for the third contract to the original truck did not work. It was a nightmare and put us about an hour and half behind. Moving is stressful and picking up a U-Haul should be the quickest and easiest part of the day but this process was extremely disappointing and a waste of money.
FRANCES YThe height of the hallways and storage unit downstairs were very low and not easy to access for people taller than 6ft. The facility is marketed as temperature controlled but in the summer mornings, it feels cooler outside than inside. The two-step process to use my access code seems redundant and tedious.

(I wasted 200$ of gas and 1 day) , the staff did not admit they changed the hours and said "the access hours are for the staff". (I asked why was I able to go in before after office hours) answer "must have been a system error." It is very dangerous carrying things up and down the stairs.

I informed them that I didn’t have a truck to move the box spring and mattress and that they could just throw it away. They claimed I put the lock back on but I didn’t. They constantly called me insinuating I didn’t move everything out, until my husband called and they finally stopped.

The only reason I wasn’t satisfied and didn’t give this review a 5 star is that they have 1 staff employee & the store manage, that will not go beyond their scope to get you an answer or to satisfy their customers’ need. Had to end up contacting the company President to resolve my issue, when it should have been properly handled by the manager. Overall, the issue was resolved and I’m happy with the outcome, but the staff will not listen to reason nor do they care about any billing concerns.

The alarm system actually works at this facility. The only (but small) negative was that access to our unit ended every day when the office closed for the day, as our very clean, well lit and air-conditioned unit was located behind the fence.

Their own branch called them liars. Trailer leaked water and now I half to deal with Insurance company. HAD to drive around looking for storage after driving 20 hrs straight. Never ever will I use or recommend u-haul to no one EVER.

You still had to pay the full price which was quite difficult at that time. Also, the vast majority of the employees are RUDE. Like they hate working there, but who wouldn’t when having to deal with an a-hole manager like Jeremy?! That guy was the worst to deal with! The worst encounter with him was when I was moving out and my movers truck was blocking the driveway. I understand that it’s a safety hazard, however all he had to do was ask nicely. Not come over and throw a God awful tantrum about how the fire department is there every other day! Then came over to my drive up storage area and threw another tantrum about how there’s a “corporate apartment” in “that” building and he needs to have at least one parking for them. Mind you, his employees had their cars parked in that area but he made us move our cars when we were obviously busy moving out! The best part of that? Well not 10 minutes after we moved a couple cars, another car gets there and parked in front of the “corporate apartment” area and low and behold it’s two of his employees. Are you kidding me?! This guy is a real piece of work. Another issue I had a couple times is that where the drive up storage was, there’s a chain link gate that’s supposed to be open until 7pm. Well it wasn’t a couple times which made it quite difficult to get to my space. Anyways, my main issue is the manager and the employees. They’re horrible to deal with, don’t rent here if you can avoid it! Expensive and terrible customer service!
