Pulled into the U-Haul location and where it said turn in equipment I pulled in was abruptly told that I should pull it to the back and park it for them. Went inside waited my turn was asked what I was there for said I was there for return the man looked at me side and said we just opened we’re very busy. I will check it in later And took the keys.

It was after hours, so personnel were not there to be helpful - I didn't expect them to be there. I did a mobile after-hours drop off. I found that the number of pictures I needed to take was a little excessive. It was at night, so not sure how much purpose they served. It seemed to take a while to get through the drop off process. I had rented 48 blankets and those were folded and stacked in the truck. There was no reference to those in the mobile return process. I hope they are still in the truck when the employee goes looking for them in the morning.

Both of the U-Haul centers did not check the equipment before use they did not have anything ready even though I had them reserved one U-Haul place would not help me and then the one manager on 800 Tallmadge ave went out of her way to fix the truck and trailer even though the machanics were right there. They did not help her or ask if she needed help. She called one person and was able to fix it right away. I don’t think I would ever use U-Haul again because the truck had bad windshield wipers and barely working headlights.this is absolutely ridiculous and completely unprofessional.

The reason I wouldn’t recommend the facility as it’s an older building and a single female needs to have another adult with them. Also, trying to call the facility was very difficult as majority of the time would be directed to the national line.

It would be excellent rate however, I didn’t like that I pick a 10x10 unit and ended up with two 5x5 units without notice of the 10x10 we’re sold. Could have gave me a choice whether if I wanted to continue with the two units or not other than that good experience

My move out date was 2/28/25. I did the process that was available online and submitted pictures, notified the store that I moved out but they continued to charge me for two months after I clearly moved out. When I called the store the person I spoke with was rude but when I called the manager the next day he was very polite and took care of the matter. I will not recommend U-Haul to anyone I know.

My drop-off was originally set to be a drop-off at a 3rd party location I guess. Instructions told me to call when I arrived and I did only to find out that phone number was disconnected and place was closed. Address was 427 commerce st. Tallmadge, Ohio. I called 800 number and they took care of changing location to a place just over 1 mile away. And they were awesome!!!! The owner help me there and was an amazing young man named Charles Molino. Hats off to this young man who verified that I was ok to return to his location at 800 E. Tallmadge ave. Akron, Ohio.

I was charged for a dolly that was not in my u-haul truck when received and was given crap when I returned it to get that credited to my account! Was even told by the young lady that she should fight with the person ( me) whenever I mentioned it! I called to report that I didn't receive it the day I picked up the truck ! No I will not rent from your location ever again!!! FLATLY!!

I would only recommend because this is the only time I've had a bad experience here. The customer service staff today seemed bothered. When I walked in they were not inviting. The parking lot was a sheet of ice due to the weather over night and they made me walk across the icy parking lot to get my truck rental that was iced over. Not professional. I received instructions for the storage unit and thought I understood but when I got over there it was confusing. There a no clear instructions posted or even printed. This needs corrected. Luckily another customer was there who was more helpful than the staff. I was not warned an alarm would go off when I opened my unit and this doesn't seem normal but a warning, if this is the practice, would have been greatly appreciated. I work in customer service and I more than understand people have a bad day, but when I encountered three staff who all seemed like I was disturbing their day, then there is an issue. You don't have to love your job but do not show your customers that. Many go to this company unfamiliar with things, therefore, we need clear verbal and written communication. I highly recommend that salting the parking lot and having trucks properly prepared for a customer, especially with a reservation, is a priority. Also, what is the point of checking in online with photo I'd and emergency contact if the staff is going to take more time to do so when a customer arrives? Due to the storage unit, I did not do mobile check in. I also should not have to mention multiple times that I also got a storage unit, so I had to go through the process twice. More attention to detail and kinder staff would be appreciated. Never had a bad experience with Uhaul until today.

I don't understand why Uhaul thinks we need an app. I don't rent trucks on a weekly or daily basis. Just make you website phone friendly. Having an app on my phone I am not going to ever use is ridiculous and just adds time and frustration to the renting process.

The man that checked me in when I picked up the truck that I reserved was so engrossed in his phone and cigarette when I checked the mileage on the truck it was wrong and I reserved a dolly and it wasn't put in the truck. The truck also smelled like smoke when I got in the truck

I rented an open trailer and appliance dolly to move a freezer. The dolly strap would not lock, the handle could slid past the metal tab used as a stop. I dropped the trailer off when I was done but there was no place to secure the dolly

I had rented a u it and when the movers and I got to it the unit was locked out due to no payment. The movers loaded the truck back up because I was told there was a u it in another building. When I found the unit it was unsuitable. We finally settled on two smaller units. In all it took and hour and 40 minutes from when we first stood in front of what was to be my unit and cost me an extra $400 with the moving crew. I’m still livid. This is just ridiculous service.

Hallways of floors and storage units you need to be cleaned a lot better very dusty. Need to inform people more about how to get into bay doors to get into the building to get to your unit it's not explained very well by the managers or by the employees. And storage prices here are skyrocket high not worth it

The staff was wonderful, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The unhurt we had leaked and done things got wet. Jon took care of it for us and was extremely nice about it. We had a former van in the parking lot as our unit, and the lot was not lit well enough after dark.

The worst moving experience ever! First they gave me a storage with 3 big rusty beams in the middle taking up space, the manager john took forever to do paperwork for the storage meanwhile I had paid movers waiting to unload my belongings into storage costing me even more money! Then they don’t make you aware that a 26 foot truck can only fit into two of their bays, until after you have already pulled in, then finally thats when john came down to inform us we are using the wrong bay, then he says oh this happens all the time, but proceeds to charge me more money for the mistake no one informed me not to make. Then I called corporate only to have john the manager at 800 east tallmadge ave akron ohio close my complaint. I found this out after calling back a month later after No returned call. Just horrible its the worst u haul company I have ever dealt with in my whole 34 years!I Don’t ever recommend anyone to rent a storage from this location.

Wasted a lot of my time, and money. Management talked me to death and made mistakes inputting my info for reservation taking almost 45 minutes meanwhile I have paid professional movers outside on the clock waiting. Then I get a storage unit with 3 big rusty beams in the middle taking up space so I had to go back over to office again to sort that out. Then I’m told my u haul was To big for the bay it was in. (No one told me this until I was already parked inside a bay) but not to worry this happens all the time. Just need to be sure the door closes. Door closes, but management still unplugs garage door and say it needs looked at by technician to check for internal damage. I was told technician wont be out until Monday or Tuesday. Meanwhile this all happened yesterday and today I receive a invoice for damages for $300 when I’m not understanding how management is sure of all this and the technician isn’t coming out to look for another 2 to 3 days??? Management was very inconsiderate and he even laughed at me. All this on top of the stress of having to move my things at a short notice into storage because my landlord sold my home while me and my children were living in it. The manager of this location should be ashamed of himself!

The young lady that assisted me was awesome...however, upper management could use a change...The guy, who I assumed was the supervisor, greeted me with disdain and hesitation, while sitting, and watching a video on his phone...He asked could he help, only to direct me to the young lady, who was apparently training a new employee...After being assigned my unit, I went and noticed another apparent employee, also hesitant to greet me and offer to help...She escorted me to my unit, to find it locked from a previous renter, as the locksmith hadn't yet visited...I returned to the office, the lady called to get assistance on switching my unit and was told to leave me in that unit, and he would go over and remove the lock himself...I waited, and he didn't show up...so I left and called the office to let the young lady know this...I chose to return much later when I could be sure that the situation was resolved...which it was!

I was never told how to actually check in so I set off the alarm the first time, that was after taking forever to figure out how to get access into the building the first time since I was using the wrong keypad. The staff was also more concerned with flirting and sharing their food than helping me. Next time I'll pat more to get better staff. Lastly, the sign out front said "1 month free storage with rental" and I never received that. Don't advertise something that won't be followed up on.

Only issues I had was checking in and out. Staff ridiculous. Check in- young man was super slow - took five minutes ( no exaggeration of time here) to go over my renters policy. I had handed him complete policy and he then was asking inane questions. (Long story short I had recently rented a unit from Cuy Falls Uhaul. That guy was awesome- looked over policy put info in computer and was done.) I was renting 2 units and told him I only needed to purchase 1 lock as I had another uhaul lock- he then proceeded to ask me 5- yes count them 5 if I was sure it was a uhaul lock. Incredulous that I could possibly own one. Check out same you man was there - I went to other employees desk - yeah no better. Slow as molasses - kinda rude. Insisting on looking at my pics when I said I would down load them on website them I needed to get going. Then we got to the lock questions and employee I had on check in pipes in and says “but are you sure locks are off? “ Ummm yes he again says are you sure- yep I gave him the death stare and he was like well you’d be surprised. Thinking I was done I turn to leave and I get the wait you got paperwork - and I have to wait while it’s being printed. Seriously I nicely told you I was in a rush -( family member being rushed into surgery) you couldn’t have hit the print button while insisting to look at pics and your fellow employee was drilling me about lock removal. Look I am sure you deal with all sorts of folks but I do not appreciate being treated like a moron - being asked the same question over and over. I also realize that staff doesn’t have much to do but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to expedite customer service- even if there is no one else in line.

I lost my storage due to falling behind, and when you’re behind one payment Uhaul makes it impossible to catch up with all the extra fees and leans. Everything I had left in the world after my divorce and the death of my mother was in this storage. One would think I would be contacted so that my mother’s ashes could be returned and any other personal items. Also, I would like to know how much my storage was sold for and did it cover what was owed and if not what is the remaining balance? Thanks

Purchased inside storage unit online. Entered the access code given and storage unit door alarmed when attempting access. Went back to Uhaul office and received a card to swipe for access. Storage unit door still alarmed when attempting access. Movers were not able to utilize area that would allow them to back in truck to flat area. Instead they had to pull up to garage and pull sofa and loveseat on a dolly up the stairs. These problems occurred even after watching the move in video. The staff in the office were very helpful and accommodating. Next time I would purchase unit in the store vs. online.

The reason why I had gotten a storage unit is because of my moving situation. I did not aspect to of had a storage unit with U-Haul this long. During the time with U-Haul, I was in a couple car accidents, seriously injured and caught the Covid Flu and was bed ridden for a couple of months. I did not mean to be behind on my rent but these things were negatively effecting me. The overall customer service with this location during my rental was extremely poor. Me having these issues, but still coming in and letting the manager know that I did plan on paying the balances was embarrassing. I did not want to be late on my payments. But the managers, etc. would change the rules of payment to the facility every so often; and it was too often. It seemed like depending on their mood, they'd tell me if I could make payments on the storage unit or I had to pay the balance in full. I've never experience this type of treatment anywhere else. They did not understand my financial or personal issues. They just looked at me as a person renting out a unit and forgot the fact PEOPLE THAT HAVE A NEED rents out units. Not just that, they by passed my extended time as a customer with U-Haul. I've had other instances, but they are irrelevant. The point is I could of still had a storage unit and the past due payment would of been paid down again if the staff at U-Uaul on Tallmadge Ave. did not change up with assisting their customers during difficult times.

Some of the staff were super nice while some others were rude and disrespectful. Some of the instructions were difficult to follow as well. I reserved a 10 x 10 x 8 unit but when I arrived to pick up the lock and keys they said it was not available which is quite infuriating considering that I reserved a 10 x 10 x 8 unit. So they gave me two smaller units. But the units were clean and the close out process when moving the stuff out of the unit and ensuring the unit is clean and not damaged was simple and convenient.

We were directed to the wrong building by an employee. We tried calling uhaul for help but was put on a 20 min hold. Eventually we had to drive around the facility to look for the unit ourselves. My unit was in a small side building that didn’t even have a padlock so we had to ask an employee to open the door to access it. The small side building also had a small staircase and no ramp so we had to unload without the moving cart.

Poor rating because reserved unit was not actually available and had to go to a different location for a unit! Unit suggested was not large enough!! VERY DISTRESSING!! Had to rent an additional unit - an expensive headache! Actually, an outrage! Why was I given a reservation when unit not actually available? I tell everyone I know about this hellish experience. What a way to do business. I feel cheated, and was also robbed of my time after a long drive from another state; and, I had to pay my movers and my driver a lot more money because of their additional time. This should never happen to anyone; but from what I have subsequently heard, it happens all the time at UHaul. Additionally, your estimates of truck sizes and unit sizes is hugely underestimated, thus, people don’t rent large enough trucks and storage units. These problems are serious and need fixing at the management level.

I have never witnessed such extensive mismanagement; this location is terrible. The manager in place at the time I rented the storage unit was a drug user and I discovered this was known to UHaul. She charged fees that weren’t applicable, she refused to respond, etc. I reported a problem with my account on numerous occasions, was due a refund equal to over three months of rent (at least) and NEVER received it despite being I promised it on several occasions. I made it clear I would pay only after the appropriate refund had been credited to my account. It never was. They closed my account when I was ill and in the hospital and informed me the contents would be sold. I will *never* patronize UHaul again nor will I ever recommend them. I will go out of my way to dissuade anyone from using them.

William Malog came to my rescue after a former manager screwed up the incoming money by not cashing the checks for 8 months. You can imagine all the ill feelings along with the headaches ,threats ,liens late charges from corprate. Wiliiam Malog is a people person and talks with you to work out a problem or issue. Uhaul is fortunate to have a person like him working with the team and customers.... Without the customers it would be No Haul...

I purchased a 9x20 vehicle storage unit but when I arrived they said that they don’t have any and all that they had was open parking storage in their parking garage. They said that it happens all the time, people order a vehicle storage only to find out none are available. Also, they charged me the same price for a single parking spot in their open parking lot as the 9x20 storage unit. It should have been less expensive as it was smaller and not enclosed. Very bad experience.

The only problem is that the access door can't be opened from outside so it is difficult to get your vehicle in and out. Without going on separately and opening door then pulling in. It could be an easy fix to make it work conveniently.

Your facility was clean and well lit the only problem is when you try to call the office at the facility no one would pick up the phone. My mother had to go to the facility to pay her bill because she couldn’t get anyone on the phone to take care of it over the phone they would not answer the phone.

When I picked up my furniture from the storage unit it was covered in mold and had rat droppings on it 2 pieces of furniture had been chewed by mice or rats!! I had to throw away a lot of furniture, I will NEVER use your storage space again!

I was charged for a unit I never had access to. After reservo the unit, I was informed that the unit was only accessible during their office hours. However, the other units are available until 10pm. I decided to cancel the transaction. I was informed it was canceled and I would not be charged. I was charged. I have called SEVERAL times to get this resolved. The employees are extremely helpful as much as they can be. However, the manager is completely negligent when it comes to communication. Several employees have left my information behind and informed me she would reach back out to me. One of the employees even messaged her while I was there, then messaged her the day after again because she did not reach out to me. She still has yet to return a call and it’s been almost one month. This is the worst service I’ve ever received from a company that I did not receive merchandise from.

My unit was on the second floor, elevator was broke and down for 2 weeks. I had called several times to talk to someone, NO ONE called me back. Went into the Uhaul place 3x to try to get a date when it would be working, the people there had no idea. I had to pay movers 2x a deposit for moving revised had to cancel then had to pay extra rent at previous address because elevator was still not working when I had movers set up. I’m quite upset in extra costs I had to pay out because of this situation. Totally uncalled for.

I have come back to the Tallmadge Ave location to rent space from because of sub par care at other UHaul sites closer to my home. The team on Tallmadge Ave., have been excellent and I do recommend them to anyone who is in the area & asks. Suggestion. Get someone to smooth out the flooring in the beginning of the 1200 row in storage, the choppy & potholed cement section is hard to cross with a cart.

I had a storage unit from 2013 until 8/2020 and they over charged me repeatedly, never notified me my lock was on wrong which the door just opened up to my unit and I had some of the WORST customer service phone calls about my due date at which they continue to over charge me monthly. Just an overall bad experience with this location!

I have rented at this location for the last 3 years. In December 2019 Costumer service at this lococation and lack of consideration for long term costomer service became a serious problem. I happy to say with a new Mananger Christine and Danielle, Customer service is again excellent and they were able to straighten out my account. The reason of the poor rating is a total reflection of past management, and the failure to correct my account.
