Lisa S | Overall ExperienceI was on a very tight schedule and I even called the day before to confirm my 7am pickup. There was no one there till after 830. When the lady got there she didnt bother going off reservations, she just started helping people in random order. It was after 9am before I was able to pull out. One of the tires had a leak also and I had to stop and air it up every couple of hours. Im usually not one to leave reviews or negative feedback and I was not planning on doing so until I got there to return the trailer and once again there was a line of people and no one in the office. That may need to be addressed, Thanks

ANDREW MYes I called uhauls 1-800 number from google and the lady tells me there’s a van perfect size, for what I need to move, at the fultondale location on Carson road. They lady gets my card information and sets me up to go pick up the van from this location because she said they have this van I need at this location! I show up to this location and first of all nobody is inside I guess the worker was outside smoking then once he finally decided a to walk inside I tell this man I have already called to set up an appointment to pick up this van. The guy tells me oh sorry man I know you see the van outside but my manager told me I can’t let anyone use it but we do have are biggest truck available and it’s are only option so not only was I jipped out of a van but now I have to pay for a massive truck that I could barley drive it was a nightmare and a forced nightmare at that I blame every single one of y’all for not communicating! It’s sorry behavior from uhaul from which I’ve seen before and would never recommend you guys I’d suggest anybody else or atleast fire this sorry employee or atleast give me my money difference from having to use the biggest truck they have the 26 foot truck was absolutely ridiculous and just about what you would expect from a uhaul company!

EDWARD CI'm normally very happy with U-Haul, but this time there was a major screwup. My equipment was not at the location I selected (1st Ave N., Eastlake) even though I received an email confirmation. To accomodate me, I had to drive 15 miles out of my way to the Fultondale location. This not only cost me in terms of overall mileage on my move, but wasted my own gas in my personal vehicle, and totally messed up my moving schedule. I had people waiting for me for over 45 minutes to arrive, which cost me additional money. This was not a good experience, to say the least.

ANDRE BTruck I rented needs major repairs; steering was wandering very badly, and a loud noise could be heard while driving. When I returned the truck, the lady rudely told me to park it up the hill and take a picture of mileage for her. I was expected to do someone else's job. I originally parked where the return sign said to. The sign said wait in rental until an attendant could come out and inspect the rental. Waited ten minutes no one came out. I had to go in and that's when she rudely told me park uphill and take picture of mileage. i asked for a paper receipt and she said they only email receipts.
MARLIN PThe only issue was that I placed a reservation for a KO & UD and they were not available at time of pickup. There was no dollies to be found in the area. I could not move all that I needed to and will have to rent equipment again in order to complete my move.
Alexander WReservation 27137306. I elected an alternate drop site originally to receive $43 dollars off and an additional 17 miles in approved mileage to that location. I was unable to add an insurance package to that reservation online or in the app. On arrival to pickup my truck the gentleman added insurance to my reservation but it changed my original reservation from 123 approved miles to 105 miles. I ended up having to pay an additional $14 in mileage costs.

MARCUS AInventory in person did not match what was online. I ordered a 10" truck with an appliance dolly and this location had neither. No one called or emailed to update me that my rental was upgraded to a 15" at an additional charge. I was not able to move what I needed since the appliance dolly was necessary. No manager on site or on duty to speak with. Horrible service
AVERY SThe organization to this place was horrible. I really felt sorry for the worker bc she was the only one working on a busy Saturday (esp it being the first of the month). She was working the desk as well as cleaning trucks. Which isn’t fair to her. The line was out the door. My reservation was almost an hour late due to short staff. The inside of the trucks could be cleaned a little better too.

I informed the associate that I was Told there was no charge for the first month since I was moving from out of state. She replied that only applies to truck rentals. I had an enclosed trailer. That is not what I was told at the time the reservation was made. Also,I was informed that I had to pay in cash since “ there system was down” so no receipt provided.

Antoinette places several phone calls to make sure that I received the equipment timely. She didn't stop until I received what I came for.
ANITRA FUnit had been smoked in. My clothes smelled of smoked after riding in this unit. The right turn signal was out. The driveshaft or transmission sounded as if was about to come apart. A high pitch whining sound during the whole ride. The unit has not been well maintained.

DANNY CMy review is not for this location but for my UHAUL experience overall. I was originally supposed to pick up my truck from a location in Jasper, AL, on Elliot Blvd. I arrived on time for my appointment to pickup and was told check in was inside the store. However, no one answered the door or the phone. I could hear them inside, but no one ever came to assist me. I had to call Uhaul and ask what to do and then drive 40 minutes out of the way to pick up a truck. When I got to Fultondale, they had an emergency and had to leave as well. However, when I called them for help, they were extremely helpful and even FaceTimed me when I had trouble unlocking the key box. My main complaint is about the Jasper location, and the stress that was caused because they wouldn’t answer the door or the phone after I made a reservation

rodnesha wI recently had a terrible experience with U-Haul. When I called to confirm my reservation, I was asked where I was taking the truck, which was unusual since I’ve rented from U-Haul multiple times and never been asked this before. I answered, and then I was repeatedly reminded, four times during the call, that I needed to return the truck to the same location I rented it from. I already knew this was U-Haul's policy, so the constant reminders were unnecessary and annoying. When I arrived to pick up the truck, the office was unbearably hot. I presented my driver’s license, and just as I was about to pay, someone who seemed to be the general manager rudely informed the employee helping me that they couldn’t rent to me because I had an out-of-state license. This rule had never been mentioned to me before in all my previous rentals. Wouldn't it have made more sense to mention this restriction during booking or at least during the call when they reminded me about the return policy four times? Military and federal workers often have out-of-state IDs when they're on temporary duty. Thankfully, I still had my old Alabama license, but it was frustrating that my valid license wasn’t considered sufficient. The employee did move the truck for me so I could pick it up later, and I appreciated his help. Returning the truck was another hassle. When I brought it back, I was told I had to drive it up a hill and then walk back to the office in the rain. This information would have been helpful at the time of pick-up instead of the repeated reminders about returning it to the rental location. Overall, I won’t rent from this location again. The customer service was subpar, except for the one helpful employee, and the arbitrary rules about licenses made the whole experience awful.

Whether I was 1 day or 15 days they would call numerous times a day. I had to inform the previous property manager of the FDCA because she was rude on top of aggravating. The new people were polite and helpful. Overall I would definitely never use this location again and I live twenty minutes from there.

I “reserved” a truck with U-Haul in Fultondale, AL to pull my trailer for an out of town camping trip, when I arrived to pick up the truck, I was told I couldn’t use my debit card that I had “always used with them for everything I’d done with them”. I was devastated, because I was prepared to hit the highway from Uhaul.😲😱😠😤😡. Also, My trailer was broken into while parked there “inside their supposedly secured gated area” and a lot of my possessions were stolen, and as far as the head administration was concerned it was “Oh well, sorry about that”, and nothing was done. They said their insurance don’t cover it. 😡🤬. I have my trailer insured but I was then told by State Farm that it’s included in my renters insurance with a thousand dollar deductible. So, not only did I have to repurchase all the things that were stolen out of my trailer, I also had to out of pocket pay for the repairs to my trailer door. U-Haul made not one attempt in their power to accommodate, and when I asked, they would not even grant to waive me at least one free month’s rental fee, but instead they increased my rental price. In spite of all this, I continued to faithfully pay U-Haul. Then one day I finally decided to remove my trailer and cancel my rental, not even mid-month, July 13th, with more days remaining of paid unused rental left, I was told I would not receive a prorated refund. I feel I received a great injustice regarding my entire dealings with U-Haul and hope never to have “any” dealing with them ever again. 🤞🏽🙏🏽….And no, per my experience I don’t recommend them to anyone. 👎🏾👎🏾

Patia S | Overall ExperienceVery disappointed upon discovering the belings in my unit were covered by tiny bugs, often referred to a no-see-ums or chiggers. I'd not had such issues at any other site, voiced my concerns and options given by management was to move closer to the office or up on hill into back of an "empty moving truck." I was crushed, these items belonged to my recently deceased mother. This misstep in entrusting the Fultondale location with memories brought further disparity to my mourning, suffering and depression. Months later I spoke with another site rep (after coming out of my depression, but back into one of the same hills that pushed me there, bugs inside and on my meticulous, but deceased mother's prize belongs. This time I was told uhaul could "spray and put down something for rats." Rats?🥺 Wabting to "see" this newly offered option at work, I agree, we met and in my mind it's a newly added disaster inside a pump sprayer, welded by a helpful, non-vested employee, for what we both knew was NOT a valid answer. She did however mention after I stopped her spraying along interior wall, in addition to splatters now on my furniture (although accidental) that a climate controlled build was coming to that location. Which sounded nice but I could not endure another warm climate awaiting "a new building" unless she could convince the existing bugs to move out and the new bugs soon to invade my unit.😑 These bugs bite and make accessing belongings difficult. Thus my primary reason for vacating your Fultondale location. I would NEVER recommend it for storage purposes due to the mental distress and heartache it has caused me. Nothing worse than throwing away "memories" I had intended to keep, now teaming with bugs I could never fully remove without incurring furniture repair or upholstery expenses. I detest this uhaul location greatly. If I could I convince all others to move out as well. Really considering buying my own facility due to my heartbreaking experience at this location.

DANDRIA G | Overall ExperienceMy responses should be tempered by the fact that this location had a tornado blow through it and my storage unit was partially affected. However, this property has issues with the front gates regularly which meant very limited access when I seemed to need it most. Also, in an effort to keep the site clean they use leaf blowers which serve to send whatever dirt, dust and detritus into the the storage units covering the front 5 feet of our stuff with this. The staff was generally nice - some more than others - and generally helpful. I would recommend this place for the surrounding community only for belongings that are hardy or do not require special handling of any kind or are completely sealed in boxes.

I was told that since I didn't pay extra money for additional insurance there was nothing they could do. Would of been better off just piling my stuff in a yard with a tarp over it. What's the point in renting storage units if they won't even guarantee that it will stay dry. Or even try to keep it dry. To clarify it was not storm damage. Just basic rain and pollen. Worst experience ever. Will not recommend UHaul or being using UHaul again.

I think that is poor customer service, especially since the facility isn't that big. The manager should have personally contacted each customer to ease our mind that our thing (family heirlooms, in mine) were safe and intact.

But some of the units had stuff moved in and we had to keep moving from one to another. Man working there told us we could have access 24/7, but did not tell us the gates had to be manually locked at 5 pm and you couldn’t get in past that. He locked up about ten minutes early and told us we couldn’t move my stuff in, tried to explain that there was nowhere to take the stuff as I have moved out and no longer had access to put the stuff back. He didn’t care, even though we would’ve been there a lot earlier if the initial moving in the first round didn’t take over an hour because unit after unit didn’t work out until we got to the fifth unit. I had no choice but to leave my stuff on a trailer outside where I lost about $500 worth of furniture due to rain. I’ve never experienced such horrible customer service before and doubt once I move my stuff out, I’ll ever come back to this location again.

They waited a week after I put my stuff in storage to tell me it had 2 doors. The worker told me they went in but never in a million years would I have expected them to steal from me!!!!! Highly upset and will NEVER recommend this place to anyone!!!
