The truck was extremely dirty covered with nails and dirt on the floor... We had to be sweep and wipe down the truck before loading. There were no furniture pads or dolly. The location is also attempting to charge me for two days when I only had the truck for 6 hours.

BERNA GWhen we went for pickup for our uhaul, we learned that the store had not yet opened (this was 20 minutes after our reservation time, and 2+ hours late for those who informed us that no one was there). When we were finally helped, we learned of issues with our reservation (even though we had confined the day before) and we also did not have a dolly available to us on our reservation even though we had booked one. The clerk helping us blamed his manager for the issues since it was him we had spoken to. We weren’t sure what exactly happened but it was very unprofessional and we did not receive any sort of compensation for the headache. We ended up leaving uhaul over an hour later with our truck because of the confusions and it delayed our move as well.

COURTNEY GI would of scored higher but trying to unload was an absolute nightmare and the way the vehicles were parked made it ridiculously hard to access the door. The mounds of ice made the dolly almost useless. After all of that I was fortunate enough to find a spot but there was no where to go for the people who had to wait for us to finish before they could start. The staff was amazing and the place is clean. I just wish they would do something about the rest.

Oluseyi FUsing the app to make your reservation sucks royally, especially if you don’t rent U-Haul frequently. The app is for clients that frequently rent U-Haul. It’s definitely not user friendly, that needs to address. If the goal is to make things better then the app needs to be more efficient.

VICTORIA GThere was only one guy working.The wait was 25mins until he could help me. Them He couldn’t help me find the truck because he had a line. When I returned the truck I only used 11 miles and got charge for the full amount of 20 miles. That’s after the fact they tried to charge my card $600.

MITERSON DI recently moved to a 4th floor unit and needed to reserve a dolly (2 different styles). When I arrived, the associate said they haven’t had dollies in stock for months. I understand things being out of stock but I would’ve appreciated a call to inform me prior to picking up the truck. Then I could make other arrangements or even canceling my reservation. I’ve always used u-haul for all my moves but I’ll probably choose a different company for the next one.
ROEUTTNA PService staff were so polite and helpful. Even though they didn’t have all the extra equipment I ordered, they made sure I understood where I could obtain them and called ahead. The return process was simple and straightforward. Good job on both customer touch points!

JAMES MI was supposed to pick up at 9:00am this past Sunday and no one was in the office at the location until 9:45. The truck was dirty in the cab and there were items in the back. And then, upon return, I was charged for fuel and a fuel surcharge after I made sure I refilled the truck to slightly more than it was given to me with before coming back. (I was charged nearly $80 for driving only 19 miles after putting $9 in myself.) I am currently waiting for a call back from the Hyde Park location after talking with a support person about the issue. I'm guessing I'll have to go into the location directly. After using this location for several rentals, this is a really bad experience in every way and you will lose a repeat customer.
Richard MI was told to take a Tow Dolly down to Maryland and was offered $100 compensation. I spoke to the representative over the phone and they told me I was all set to pick up my 10ft truck with the dolly. The representative at the store didn’t understand what was going on because of miscommunication and lack of training. He stated that U-Haul trucks don’t have tow hooks to connect the tow dolly and told me it wasn’t available when they had 4 on the lot. By far the worst experience I have had since I didn’t receive any compensation for the company’s lack of communication and training.
Roberto GI want to particularly highlight the staff at Hyde Park-Milton. I was there a number of times during the busiest week of the year around Sep 1 when tons of people are moving and need storage, trucks, and supplies and are generally stressed and rushing. Despite this chaos and intensity the staff remind calm, cool, and kind consistently. It was not just one staff member either, I had this experience with many of them!

Darlene aYour corporate identity verification process is absurd. That only the inconvenience of having to wait for phone calls to family or friends, but the fact that they have to be involved and disturbed so that I can rent a truck for a couple of hours is absolutely ridiculous. And then for the attendant to tell me, that’s how it works with rental cars, which is absolute bullshit, is insult to injury. I will NOT be renting from U-Haul again so long as this process remain in place. Also, the truck had a low/flat tire to start, which also meant there was no. way to verify the mileage because the warning was overriding the mileage display. For the more every time you stop the right front tire would lock up as you came to a stop and skid, which also pulled the steering wheel to the right. Very unsafe.

SEYMOUR BI order a dolly on website and I reach the store they have none. They don't carry dolly at the Hyde Park store. When I place the order, it should have said not available. I would have went to another store that has a dolly. So my moving was not easy

The instore staff are Ignorant, Unprofessional, and have no work ethics! They move as slow as a turtle, they avoid eye contact, no warm welcoming greeting ...Just Horrible! There were mice dropping and urine on many of my items I discarded a lot of items that were in boxes as the critters seemed to chew their way threw. Thank God most of my belongings were stored in plastics bins, but the bins w/o covers took a hitting. Let me not forget to mention, during my first week of service with UHaul, one of the idiot workers put a rat trap box on top of one of my boxes! This place should be avoided like a PLAGUE!

Third, when booking on line you refuse to show pictures or details of the storage units. For example. I never knew there were top and bottom storage units which is very dangerous btw! I booed online for a unit to store my sofas and of course (without any knowledge or information) it just so happened that I was given the top unit. How do one manage to store sofas on a top unit locker? To top it off there were no more units available. So o instead had to go to another storage facility which is called Extra Space Storage. I even recommend Uhaul’s staffs to utilize them! Extra space staffs are professional, helpful quick fast and easy! I will NEVER use Uhaul again! EVER

The chubby black boy behind the counter was probably the rudest customer service representative I have ever encountered. He wouldn't look at me while speaking because he was too busy texting and giggling at his phone and when he endeavored to look up from his phone he had a rancid look on his face like my presence there was absolutely repulsive; he wouldn't respond when I asked questions and raised his voice at me for asking a question about payment...I don't know if he is being forced to work this job but that is none of my concern. If you have a job where you are the face of a company but you are incapable of common human decency (not even customer service-level decency), you should quit and do something else that would make you less miserable. He gave me keys to a truck but didn't walk out with me to inspect the truck, and there were not that many people in the store to prevent him from doing so. The following day I went to this same location and another black man and especially the Hispanic lady behind the counter were superb. Even though I had to wait in a queue until it was my turn, when it was my turn, the Hispanic lady treated me like I was the most important customer and I could see that she applied the same level of patience, respect and care with every other customer before me. She needs to be given the job of teaching other uhaul workers what customer service really is, and also given a pay raise.

This location is pretty busy so if it would be ideal for the machine /system to work. so I don't have to wait for someone to unlock the door. I pay every month for the service, the least I need is for it to work. Staff needs customer service training. People come in with an attitude or are very stressed. people are moving so understand they will come me with attitude, not towards you, so the staff doesn't have to give ppl hard time, they need to talk nicely and properly so the customer doesn't feel rush or not understood.

It would show paid and then we would still receive a bill with a late fee! Horrible! So U-Haul needs to work that out!
