I moved out of this storage unit after one month and ever since I’ve been getting monthly bills at exponential rates, phone calls, emails. It’s burgeoning on harassment. If the people eho work there looked at the storage, they would see it’s been vacated since the end of September and therefore no reason for them to harass me.

While I selected U-Haul due to its reputation and the flexibility the U-Box product promises, the actual experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and unacceptable. The core of my complaint revolves around the complete lack of clarity and consistency regarding the delivery timeline of my U-Box. I was given multiple, conflicting arrival dates, none of which were honored. This lack of reliable communication created considerable stress and logistical challenges, as I had made important plans based on the initial delivery estimate. I understand that some delays may occur due to unforeseen circumstances; however, what is unacceptable is the absence of proactive communication, accurate tracking, and accountability. At no point was I given clear or helpful information, and attempts to get updates from customer service often resulted in vague responses or being passed from one department to another. Given the inconvenience, stress, and additional costs I incurred due to this mishandling—including changes to work commitments, temporary housing adjustments, and rescheduling movers—I am requesting appropriate compensation for the service failure. Please consider this a formal complaint and a request for financial restitution reflective of the disruption caused by U-Haul’s failure to deliver on its service promise. I would appreciate a prompt response outlining the steps U-Haul will take to address this matter.

Also, I've been carless for a few years and was a little intimidated of driving a 15' truck, but the vehicle was almost as easy to drive as my Corolla was. I was very impressed with my experience with U-Haul. I'm glad I chose this route rather than going with Pods. I'm a very satisfied customer.

CYNTHIA WThis place was great for a long term stay. Never had a problem with the entry card or entering. I once lost my storage keys & had to get a lock smith. They provide help with it & getting me a new lock & key. My items were stored for 5 years & I never had a problem with or rats or bugs. Of course there was dust. But location was convenient, storage was clean, hours were reasonable & getting a truck in & out to move my items & rent all was a plus. Thanks U-Haul.

Rick AMy pick-up location was moved a couple of days before pick-up, and an item I had ordered (mattress cover) was not available at Fullerton Ave. Getting the money back for the mattress cover took a lot of work - there should be an easier way to simply cancel an order. Also, the hand cart I had ordered was not available at Fullerton, so I had to take an appliance hand cart (and pay $3 extra), but those carts are useless for moving boxes over any distance due to small hard wheels; the location staff should know this and NOT recommended the appliance hand cart. I ended up carrying the boxes instead. (Polite folks working in Chicago, but they seemed understaffed; took close to 1 hour to process the full line of people, and we arrived on time).
Patrick OThe only thing I could have asked for was the level of fuel in the vehicle. The previous customer had dropped off the truck with fuel so low the warning light was on stating that I had 41 miles until E. I was given a $13 credit at check in but it was VERY inconvenient.
IRWIN EThe app still needs work. It took me half hour to leave with the rental truck. The pictures kept disappearing and I’ve had to restart about 5 times. I think instead of the those access cards, just have keep the PIN number to access the storage. The access code is more efficient than constantly going back to the front desk asking an employee to reset the cards

Sharvell BHad a few issues. The return address that I was told and provided upon pick up was different than where I had to drop off… I was not told until I called to return the truck that afternoon and was not notified prior to that. I had to drive to two different locations to return the truck. I was also not fully explained on the gas refueling process and filled more gas than needed on the return as well.
Kevin LYour App and self checkin just plain sucks. I had serious issues using my camera and uploading photos. Revamp your app or make it clear to customers that default settings on iPhones do not allow camera use and explain how to modify upon download to be usable. Everyone at the location was fantastic and helpful. They were all aware of the app sucking. During purchase I was auto prompted to use self checkin, really bad mistake on your company. Streamline this and fix bugs

I understand there’s a lot of people who are swain when it comes to cleanliness, but even though they should have garbage can throughout the facility, especially at the entrance there’s always a massive pileup of stuff. They should have someone or hire somebody to review the area periodically throughout the day. You can feel free to call me. JOSAFAT GI must admit .. that location team works very Well together the young lady that serviced the desk ( Michelle ) was very cheerful and helpful. I needed to upgrade and when she said she could help me with that and had a smile , her conversation throughout the process was truly warming it made me feel so happy to have used that location and the guy that hooks up the trailer ( Tyler ) was such a great guy with the way he hooked everything together while explaining the process was very cool ( I never even realized that there were lights on a trailer ) which all this was being handled by a Great Staff .. Yes, I will forever use this location and they have every type of transporter you need
CELESTINE WI have used this facility twice now - once in a time crunch and once yesterday. Both times have been phenomenal and easy. They take great care of their customers here. From getting checked in to the gentlemen bringing the trucks, they are all helpful, kind, and courteous. I will definitely keep coming back here for moving/packing needs. Thank you all!

And there was just a paper note on the wall, saying that nobody could go up for several hours and get in storage, because come ed was doing something. It was a little frustrating to drive all the way in only to see this paper note on the elevator. I think it would have been nice to get an email or a notice with that.Information.

DAVID Z | First ImpressionsWhile the staff at the U-Haul Logan Square Storage Facility were friendly and helpful, and the process of booking a unit was easy, I cannot recommend this facility due to a severe rodent infestation. The facility is easily accessible, but that convenience does not outweigh the damage and stress caused by the lack of proper pest control. After storing my belongings here, I discovered rat feces and urine all over my unit. My large 3-piece sectional couch, coffee table, electronics, and boxes of personal belongings were all contaminated. The couch was so badly affected that I had to discard it due to the risk of infectious diseases. No food was ever stored in the unit, yet the infestation was so severe that even sealed boxes were contaminated. Worse yet, I noticed that other storage units in the facility had rat feces spilling out of them, which suggests that this is an ongoing issue affecting multiple customers. While I appreciated the helpfulness of the staff, the rodent problem clearly indicates a lack of maintenance and pest management by the facility. If you value your belongings, I strongly urge you to look elsewhere for storage. A secure and pest-free environment should be a basic expectation of any storage facility, and unfortunately, this location failed to meet that standard.

Luis FWe were switched pick up locations with a day's notice. Broadway is a block from the move site; Fullerton is miles & time away, given city driving. Further, the truck had 1/8 of a tank of gas - for an out of state move, the last thing we wanted to do was try to find an accessible gas station in the city when we already had to drive 30 minutes out of our way. Terrible planning on UHaul's part. When I complained at pick up, they said they'd give us a credit of $22 for up to a quarter tank. Incent the renter to do UHaul's job? WTH!

VICTOR OMy experience was horrible... But the folks at the 4100 Fullerton location solved my problems. I originally had a van booked at the Ashland and Grand Shell location. I arrived and your site hadn't assigned me a vehicle number, so I sat on the phone for a half an hour with your support. I talked to the clerk and they don't even have vans. Then your team said I could switch my booking for an upgrade with the hope of getting a refund if I waited on hold for God knows how long with a different department. Then they said I could pick another one up across town instead and I threw my hands up and said fine. They said they transferred my booking to the new location. They didn't. They had to book me as a walking and I had to do the whole process over again. Terrible customer service. Awful. I was 2 hours late. Thanks. The folks at 4100 Fullerton saved the day and were very helpful. Give them a raise! Your phone support is a total joke.

Steve SI was overcharged for 80 miles they said I drove 100 miles and I only drove around 25. Then when they realized it was a mistake they only refunded me 15$. I knew that was still wrong and after I said it was still wrong they refunded me 50$ more. Went from over 100$ charged to half of that.

jose v | Overall ExperienceI completed the online check-in a couple of days before the rental. However, I had to repeat the process at the store. The customer service rep showed me the pictures of my license that I had uploaded. It looked like the images had been darkened to the point of being unreadable. I didn't receive -- or at least didn't see -- the text messages to take pictures of the truck and trailer until I reached my next stop. I rented a pickup truck and utility trailer with ramp. I had the mistaken impression that tie downs came with the trailer. This was not a big deal as the place I was renting a machine from had tie downs for sale. Maybe send an email or add a reminder to the check-in process about bringing tie downs for this type of trailer.
MARK MHard to get a parking spot. I couldn't get the door to close all the way on my rental. Now I have to take pictures of the rental before I take it out. Previously the employee did that. Why am I working for U-haul?

The only issue I had was that the car dolly didn’t have both of its safety chains, which presented an extreme hazard while drive across the country. I would recommend this UHaul location again, but make sure you check your equipment well.

I swipe at the door which says hello my name you have access, as soon I get to the elevator to go up when I swipe I was denied not once but twice, then I had to go back outside swipe to enter get the ok then run back to the elevator and swipe and get authorized. I had to do this back and forth like a total of 8x. I did tell the rep and he did give me a new card hopefully when I do go again I won't have this problem. But over everything went well.

Incidentally, this same elevator was 'out of service' when I needed to move my things (finally) out of the facility. I have now sent 3 emails regarding my move-out to the manager, Michael Salata, with no response. Overall, I am leaving U-Haul with the strong impression that this storage facility is incredibly poorly run; as such, I will find another storage & moving provider the next time I need help. Said another way, due to this experience AND lack of responsiveness from the manager, I will never be a U-Haul customer again.

Loading and unloading area does not exist because bay doors do not work, both of them. Invest in the facility like it was in Lincoln Park and just make it less cumbersome to get inside the building with items on a dolly and that all bay doors work.

This employee stood in front of the control panel for the elevator so I couldn't press the proper floor button so I could get to floor 1. I think this person could have been more helpful.

On top of still paying the storage fee. Locksmiths are outrageously expensive. They insist that u buy one of their locks, but if you lose your key, they don’t have their own locksmith, they don’t have keys to the storage, and it’s overall horrible. I will never use or recommend them

The worker didn’t set up the storage unit or give me the dolly, so I couldn’t move in the morning and had to come back to the store anyway, so my whole evening appointment was pointless and inconvenient, since I had to find overnight parking for trailer I couldn't even use. What is more the trailer lights did not work.

I didn't like the treatment at all paid U-Haul for over 2 years for a room and when I moved out I get treated like crap. Nice one! Michael. Talk to your employees and by the looks of it. Even vehicles come up missing or used too... Trow away the entire team. Only one functioning elevator and it’s very small. The card reader doesn’t work half the time. The elevator doors closed on me multiple times and didn’t even open back up. Like literally squished me with the doors. Very unsafe. The hallways to get to the storage unit are very narrow and some genius decided to put piping and radiators on the ground instead of in the ceiling like most business which made the hallway even more narrow. Obviously people are moving homes, apts etc and they’re gonna have alot of items why not make the hallway less crowded. Horrible horrible layout. There are hardly any carts available. One person had 6 carts outside their unit while reorganizing their unit leaving none behind for people moving into their unit. Most of the staff at this location seems like they have some sort of substance abuse problem. And I’m pretty sure they are people living in some of these units. Never again! I’ll never use U-Haul storage ever again

I authorized for automatic payments to be deducted from my credit card and the employee was very professional and courteous forgot to hit the back, he was working diligently fielding the phones and checking in customers. I was receiving delinquent notices and late fees but after a vigorous diligent approach it was resolved, that is not a good feeling being accused of not following protocols and being penalized for someone's else's error. The owner resolved the problem as a attorney , I never assume the worse on any case give the situation the benefit of the doubt, until evidence proves otherwise.

Guy at the desk 12 out of 10. The facility for storage, the docks were dirty had bottles and trash blowing around. This was most likely from garbage humans just emptying their cars of trash on the floor. Maybe put some trash cants around the area? And a sign that says (Please help keeping our facility clean do not litter). Also the storage unit floor had something black and sticky and it got all over the end of my couch. Because I had the couch standing up on end. Maybe occasionally wash and clean the storage rooms after every 6months of use.? Would have been more annoyed with my stay but the guy at the front desk was great so it evened out my overall experience.

The team at Fullerton in Chicago this week was excellent! JC at the front desk was patient and professional. He gave me clear directions on how to find and access my new unit. When I got lost, Carlos in the warehouse took the time to walk me to the access point and showed me where to park, how to use the garage door and lift, and where to find the carts and elevator. Michelle on the second floor was friendly and responsive in helping get an alternate storage unit. In every way, a great local team at Fullerton. This does not happen my accident. That's why I asked for the manager and thanked him. At the Uhaul national level, I have been very frustrated the last ten days with this truck rental for a move to a different state. I did not realize how crazy-busy Uhaul is during the summer. I also realize that many companies are having a difficult time hiring and maintaining good staff. I can never seem to be able to talk with a local office. This is not an accident. It seems like a process system. After several rings, calls always go to the national office. Long wait times, with calls sometimes dropped. I get conflicting information from different agents at the national office. Quality of service is inconsistent in terms of knowledge and focus on helping the customer. Two days ago (July 12) I spent 90 minutes in the hot sun trying to get access to my truck rental. The local pick up was a convenience store with one employee who could not help me. Three calls to get a national office agent on the phone to help me were completely unsuccessful. I finally gave up, overheated, exhausted, and very annoyed with Uhaul national office. Uhaul lost a truck rental, and I lost half a day. Overall, I have been a satisfied customer with Uhaul for over ten years.

She even helped load the 24 Haul storage boxes I ordered (not light!). Geo was wonderful and helped finish loading. Xavier was top-notch customer service too - he made sure I reviewed the truck before taking it (which I really appreciated - I didn't know the X's meant it was a documented scratch). He also helped tons upon returning to load my stuff in storage and return the truck. Also, whenever going to the storage facility I always saw suspicious behavior... people coming in and out all hours of the night just to hang out, wander the halls, sit and hang out in front of their units as if they lived there, fix their cars, park and drink, etc.... “24/7 security“ is hardly noticeable. I never felt safe going to the storage facility and now I’m certainly disgusted by the bugs found in my boxes.
