MARY lFix your gas surcharge formula. I only went 19 miles, but I put 4.5 gallons of gas in the tank to get it back to 1/4 full, this would be about 4 MPG when this truck should get at least 12 mpg on the route I took. I drive easy and look ahead, I do not race from light to light as most do. I drove on mostly flat streets with small slopes if any. I made sure I was not in "tow/haul" mode when empty too. We had one room of furniture from a bedroom, bed, bureau, etc. and the mileage I went 2 gallons of gas should have been enough. But I put 4.5 gallons in to avoid a surcharge. So I paid an extra $7 just to be safe. The procedure should be to Fill the truck up back at your facility and charge a reasonable price per gallon. $7 isn't a whole lot but when added to the total bill it makes a difference. Not pleased with this.

Joe SThe reserved trailer’s lights did not work. The store provided a larger trailer at the same price and this worked to our advantage. However, it also took much longer (over an hour) for us to get off their lot and get started packing. The equipment should have been tested prior to our arrival.

Andreia AFirst trailer was not as described. Second trailer was not maintained. Also be careful about policies they have, but do not tell you. An employee in the yard told me about the cleaning fees if oil or gas is spilled and it smells in the enclosed trailers. None of this will be explained. This company is all about upselling and nickle and diming you. Use another service or a friends equipment. I'm waiting for my money to be returned.

SERGIO M | First ImpressionsIt's unfortunate this only allows "yes/no" answers. The experience was not that black and white. Storage access hours were great in theory; but there were multiple times there was a glitch on U-Haul's end that prevented me from having access during access hours. If the glitch happened during non-business hours (which it often did), I ended up not having access at all. At one point, I was locked out of my storage unit for two weeks due to a glitch on U-Haul's end, which greatly interfered as it happened when I was in the last leg of moving, and caused costly delays, both in terms of time and stress. Communication wasn't always great. Staff was usually helpful and friendly, but that wasn't something I could count on. There were also seriously long waits to get help from staff in the office. I learned to plan an hour or more in my schedule even for the simplest of questions. The place was clean. There was no evidence of mice on any of my belongings, even though they had been in storage for 14 months, which I was very excited about.

Thankfully I arrived when the office was attended and the UHaul person was able to assist me. Otherwise I would have struggled to find the unit. On property, there are 4 buildings….none of them are marked on the outside as to which units (1-XX) are contained within. Had no one been there, I would have had to walk through each building to find my unit. Please update the automated message to indicate which units are in which building. Second, if the agent would not have been there, I would not have know to use the “UHaul App” to return the trailer after hours. That would be useful information to send in a text to customers the day of drop off/return. Thank you for your time and consideration. Regards, Nick

For instance, we were required to buy specific types of locks from them for $10, and 24-hour access was an additional $10, which I believe should have been disclosed upfront. Lastly, there were no larger units available, so we had to purchase two units at full price without any discount.

She didn’t care, and counseled me on the correct procedure to check out. I’ll rent a garage from methany up the road before I come back to U-Haul in mechanicsburg. Not filthy, but certainly not clean. Passed an old mattress and entertainment center that was outside C building for nearly a week. No security cameras.

BETHANY S | Overall ExperienceUpon arriving my storage unit is supposed to be a drive up outside. It turned out to be one of the units that looks like it was delivered on a flatbed preassembled. First thing was that it is on a raised platform which prevents me from just rolling anything in ( garage like ) had to go back home to get a ramp. 2nd thing was it looked smaller than 10 x10 ,measured and its not quite 10 x9 also there is a second rollup door on the back with a lock on it not sure who has the key for that. It was clean . Checked and they did not have any other units available.

He may have been off the clock but I feel that it was a very simple question with a simple answer that could've been answered without an eyeroll or sarcasm. I feel that even off the clock he represents U-Haul (especially while walking out of the office IN UNIFORM) and puts off a bad vibe when interacting with customers this way. Overall I am still quite satisfied with the rest of the staff's performance and my interactions with them. And, as previously mentioned, Maria was very friendly and a joy to talk to.

They were literally running from customer to customer who needed service and assistance, and did so professionally and courteously. Not only was I returning a 10-foot truck and a obstinate tow dolly (the straps were a bit stubborn), we also need a storage unit assigned in the midst of the chaos. They took care of everything beautifully. I will highly recommend this location to anyone.
