Just wanted to write in time say that everyone who assisted me today was a Rockstar. Samuel, Melvin, and another gentleman whose name is did not catch but he got me checked in. I want to specifically call out that my wife ended up leaving her credit card in the truck. Before we had even made it 5 minutes down the road, the guys had looked up my cell number and given me a call even though the shop was due to close in just a minute or two. They waited around so I could run back and grab it from them. Absolutely wonderful customer service and I truly appreciate it and I hope that UHaul appreciates the work they do!

I added two gallons of gas before I returned the truck, and had used the truck for only 6 miles. I took pictures of the the gas gauge when I picked it up and dropped it off, but I still got charge gas fee

You can start with vehicle maintenance. The Check engine light was on when the truck was dispatched to me. Vehicle gas milage was an atrocious 10-11 GPM.

If I can give the uhaul in Somerville 20 stars I would. Hector is one of the most caring, responsible, attentive, managers I have ever came across. The group of workers he has created are phenomenal. It was very easy to rent the van on short notice! The only thing that caught me off guard is that I ended up checking in at the desk, but then didn't know I also needed to add pictures to the app about the condition of the van. I had arrived at my first moving location before I was prompted to take photos of the van.

if you are asking someone to drive a trailer to another state for you, have it ready for them to pick up at the location where their truck is. Having us go to two different locations and then CHARGING US for the privilege of driving your trailer was galling. I will never participate in the u-haul equipment distribution scheme again, it was absolutely not worth it.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. I would appreciate receiving advance information about how highway tolls are paid when one is driving a U-Haul truck. I hadn't thought about this until literally we were underway and approaching a toll plaza. This caused some anxious moments until we called the pick-up location for this information.

I reserved a 5x8 trailer for $30 per day. But when I picked up it on 3/13 6:30pm, one agent wanted to charge me $58. I said it was not the price I reserved, but he said it was the price on his computer, and he said the online reservation often wrong. I questioned why and how the online reservation was wrong. The other agent said "if you don't want it, we can cancel it; you go somewhere else to rent". I said no, it is too late to go to other location. Then the first agent said he figured out the $30 deal. I ask what went wrong. He said he put two days rental. I eventually got what I reserved, but I felt that the two guys tried to cheat on me. Very unhappy, not recommend this location.

I was charged $45 for gas even though the tank was 1/4 full at both pickup and drop off. The receipt said I returned it 1/8 full. I called the location and they credited me back the $45, so all was good in the end, but it was annoying to have to deal with that.

I originally rented just a car hauler, but they wouldn’t let me use my truck m, which I understand because one turn signal wasn’t working properly. But 2 things happened after that and these make me disappointed. First off partly my fault for not thinking but my truck has both a 4 pin and 7 pin connector and they could have suggested an adapter which you sell in store. But instead they gave me the option of fix my truck or rent a truck. Went with renting a truck bc as a mechanic i knew it was more than just a fuse. The big thing I have an issue with is the truck they gave me. It was a box truck and could barely tow the empty trailer and with a truck on it really struggled. Had to put my foot to the floor to get up to 45mph. The truck was no where near capable of towing that trailer and honestly if I had not a legitimate and lots of experience towing something terribly bad could have happened. Besides the point of the truck struggling to tow I could also tell the truck was maintained all to well, as with only roughly 57k miles on it the engine would shake pretty bad and idle and the transmission would shift really hard almost feeling like it was gonna explode underneath me.

I had two issues when I picked up the truck I would be driving. The first is that the front -- the grill, the windshield, and the front part of "mother's attic" -- was covered in dirt, presumably from the previous driver. I asked the attendant to clean the windshield, and he did. The second problem had nothing to do with the pick-up location: when I tried to indicate where I wished to drop the truck off (in another state), that location did not come up as an option. I had had the same problem when I tried to book the reservation initially -- the drop-off location did not appear, so I had to call to get a representative to put it into the system. That was very frustrating and suggests a problem with U-Haul's computer system.

U-Haul is a life-saver for college students. We used it over three summers, twice in Cambridge, once in Somerville. I would recommend starting early in the spring, grabbing a spot when you find one and straight-out renting it instead of reserving to rent later. Demand is enormous for summer storage in the general Boston area, because there are so many students who need to store their belongings over summer.

Getting my Uhaul storage unit set up was an absolute nightmare. There were some technical errors when connecting my account and the unit. No one could successfully help me and I eventually just ended up having the unit and not being able to see the reservation on my account. IT and account services need some SERIOUS work. The people at the office hours were of little to no help. They actually made it worse when they brutally misspelled my name even after I spelled it out for them. A young girl working during office hours was very helpful. She's the only reason I was able to somewhat successfully get my unit set up. Also, what's with the wrong hours?? We were told by the office desk that unit access hours close with office hours. That's not true and everyone seemed to believe it with no further explanation provided.

The girl that works there is no help to anybody at all. She refused to help me told me she was busy. She had 15 different jobs to do. I was quite upset when I first arrived she saw me and totally ignored me. I went home and came back thinking it wasn’t open, then when it was open I went in and I asked her why she did not even say good morning to me and asked me what if I needed anything she told me she was busy. I have been to the facility three times already in all three times, I’ve heard her refuse to help , everybody else there be more helpful to me I don’t know if it’s because she’s young or what her problem is but it’s a huge problem

It took me 2 unreturned calls to their manager hector, 1 additional call to anyone on staff, and 2 visits to finally get setup with a storage unit. Consider making this process a bit more seamless for the customer. If there was a better local option, I would have not purchased from Uhaul.

The general manager was completely unresponsive to my emails and phone calls about setting up alternative payment arrangements (by check instead of credit card). Instead, i was referred out to a collections consultant who didn't have a U-Haul email address and then abruptly left the job leaving me without anyone to work with. Totally unacceptable.

After finally locating the office for service, I located a staff member who seemed bored throughout the process. He achieved the task of helping me find an available space--which is hard enough with UHaul--but refused to do provide any service beyond what seemed like a rotely memorized routine. When he asked, "Anything else?" I responded, "Could you please help me move this item into my unit?" He then said, "We don't do that here. We don't move things in." And left it at that. I then struggled for the next few minutes to lift my hefty suitcase into an upper-level compartment with only a spindly step ladder on wheels to assist me. It was dangerous. I could have fallen backward. My final struggle was with the lock, but I was able to find a second staff member at that time who was much friendlier and professional. It may not have been in his job description, but he took time to step away from his desk and resolve the lock issue for me. Otherwise, the whole experience felt cold and impersonal.

the staff was great and friendly. but the organization and customer service overall was horrible. there were 30 people in line when i got there, and it took nearly an hour to get through, even though i had booked everything before hand. for long stretches, no one was even in the room helping customers. they were out taking care of something. i truthfully have never seen a more poorly organized customer service experience. The only thing that made up for it was the staff friendliness. i feel like you are vastly under staffed.

Our overall experience was good, but Edgar went above and beyond and made our move-in SO easy and pleasant on an otherwise stressful day. He was helpful, informative, and seemed genuinely invested in making things run as smoothly as possible. Side note, he was unexpectedly alone at the beginning of the shift on Sunday with a line of people outside, and he handled it with grace and calm. He's an absolute gem, and whatever you're paying him isn't enough. ;) Thank you, Edgar! Our unit was highly trafficked by mice. We had some belongings destroyed by mice and were reimbursed by Uhaul. The rest of our stuff survived unscathed but there was poop all over-needed a lot of surface cleaning. The staff was exceedingly helpful, friendly and easy to work with.

Hi! my name is Justino. I went in to Somerville Uhaul office yesterday after reservation online. I made the reservation to move in on Sunday 9/27/20. When I got there, I saw a girl at the office, instead of helping she asked her coworker Edgar Lopez who just walked in from outside to take over and help me because she wanted to use the restroom, Edgar was in the middle of doing something outside but came over and started helping when she popped out of the so called bathroom she claimed she went. Edgar almost finished with the contract and was telling me the amount to pay to move in when I was explaining to him that I was supposed to have one month free according to my reservation and I have a proof of it. That was when the girl jumped in saying "no that's not true because I was here last time when you came in and my boss told you you need to rent a truck one way before getting one month free. I told her that's right but this is the proof that I'm qualified for one month free according to my reservation. she didn't want to hear it. Then I pulled my phone out and trying to provide the picture evidence I have, she said:"even if you have a picture to prove it we're not going to do it". However Mr Lopez Edgar took his time and listened to me and saw the evidence I showed him then advised me to come back the next day and see his manager because he's the only person who can approve the one month free rent. I got out of the office and decided to contact the manager because I'm used to that office and I know the former manager George and the current one manny. I sent a text message to Manny and told him the story of the girl been too harsh. Manny took his time to document everything and then recommended me to JUAN BAUTISTA and asked me to go back there and see him for the contract. I went back to the office and Juan took care of the issue and resolved it and assigned me the unit that I reserved which happened to be at the upper level. I told him it's too high for me to load heavy things up there and he reassured me that if anything becomes available at the lower lever I can switch to that lower level unit. I was so happy with the excellent customer service provided by Manny the manager, Juan B. and Edgar Lopez. All a customer needs sometimes is attention and be listened to and be advised when the service he or she is requesting cannot be provided. That's what Edgar Lopez did. And Manny as a team leader proved his leadership by asking a talented team member JUAN BAUTISTA to care of the issue which he resolved with an excellent level of service which brights my day.

While the staff was helpful, the design of the storage units are horrendous. Why are there overhead storage units? This defeats the convenience in paying for storage units. Nowhere on the online booking tool was o warned there were overhead units at lower cost and floor units were $40 more! Arriving at the facility with my fully loaded for check in, My hand was forced to go with the slightly bigger, floor unit. This is the type of thing that infuriates customers and further drives them away. Bad business practice.

The storage assigned was located three meters above the grounds. I had to use a ladder to put my things in there. It is shameless that storage line that can be sold. The worst experience. Moving is already stressful and to come and find out that your storage is on the ceiling of a poorly managed facility makes it a nightmare. Horrible experience with u-haul storage. I had to rent another storage. I WOULD NEVER USE IT AGAIN AND I WANT MY MONEY BACK.

Reservation was not available and customer service lied to me, claiming that never once in seven years had they ever had someone reserve a storage unit at their location that wound up unavailable.

I was called to tell me that there was no room available and that this reservation was cancelled. I found a good alternative at different Uhaul, but hope this somerville reservation was cancelled.

I reserved a storage unit at the Linwood location three weeks before my move. After driving 9 hours, and arriving just in time to unpack, I was told that there were no units available.

Nothing the associates did was bad, but o reserved a storage unit a month in advance but there was none available when I arrived. Absolutely unacceptable.

I was told there were not storage units available of the size I had reserved one month prior. However the employee was able to get me into a smaller unit at the same location.
