Sunday morning : 10 - 15 customers at 9:00 AM and ONE employee !!! waiting time in line about 45min to an hour ! slow computers !!! Who is managing this location and where is he / she on Sunday morning ? Would you recommend this location to a friend ???

There was only 1 gentleman working this morning when I came in to pick up the truck. Although there were at least 3 people ahead of me and 3 people behind me, he handled himself well. Was courteous and helpful. Another woman who worked there came in right before it was my turn and was just as helpful and kind. Moving is never easy and they made picking up and dropping off the moving truck easy and painless. Thank you. I wanted to make sure the gentleman knows how appreciative I was as a customer even though he didn't help me directly. He deserves praise!

The manager is great, but I am disappointed in UHaul's structure as a whole. Most of the staff (besides the manager) was unable to effectively help me with basic tasks, such as returning an item, or fixing my ID card to swipe into the storage area. The manager was the only one who eventually solved my problems. It's not necessarily the staff's fault either, I blame UHaul for setting up their computer systems in a way that runs everything through corporate instead of giving local staff the ability to override the buggy computer system. It took one guy 20 minutes to process a return for an item I bought. I watched him do it, the computer system did not allow him to return it so he had to do some ridiculous work-around to get me my money back. Local employees should have an access level that allows them to override silly system bugs without having to make a customer wait for 20 minutes. Also, the card reader at this location is very flaky. I have to swipe at least 3-5 times to get my card to read, and for the first week of my rental it didn't work at all. The manager finally got a technician to come fix it, but I had to pull teeth to get that to happen, and it still doesn't work very well. Luckily the manager at this branch was a great guy and helped me out beyond his normal expectations, otherwise I would have been screwed. Also, when reserving a truck, the fact that I had to call corporate and then wait 24 hours for a callback is ridiculous. Why aren't the local branches tied into the central scheduling system? Why can't I reserve a truck at my local branch? Why does it take 24 hours for a local staff member to look at the calendar and see if any trucks will be available at their location? If I have to wait a whole day only to find out that the nearest truck is at some location 15 miles from the one I want to pick up at, I will go to a different truck company. You guys need to come up with a better system for that. The global scheduling calendar should be centralized and updated in real time, with local branches having access to add or change reservations, especially ones associated with their branch. The local staff at my branch told me that I had to call the UHaul number to schedule trucks, they could not do it in the store.

I really hope these comments are public and not sifted. Every time I rent with Uhaul, I have a remarkably similar experience: 'something has gone wrong'. I want to make absolutely sure that no one mistakes this one location for any problems. No, if anything, this rental continues to illuminate the massive systemic incompetence baked into the underworkings of UHaul Corporation. On walking into my location (the office of which was hidden behind trucks with little signage pointing me in the right direction), I was greeted by one man behind a desk and two in line. The man behind the desk was on the phone, or at least was trying, while the man he helped waited on him. Apparently, some issue which was not locally solvable required access to an outside system or arbiter. As this was unavailable for no discernable reason, the man behind the desk was forced to concede: "Im sorry but there is nothing I can do." By the time I reached the desk, at least 20 minutes had passed. Mind you, there are other desks but nobody working there- this is again not the fault of the lone employee, but of a corporation that values a skeleton crew over decent service. The checkout went fine until we walked outside and realized the truck we were given was behind two mobile storage boxes. Because the sole man inside was now assisting the next people in line (a lengthy process), the decision was reached: for the man outside to move the boxes with a forklift to reach the truck. The truck worked fine. When I returned the truck, 'after hours', there was no particular method for return. I wandered around until I found a 'dropbox' for the keys (a hole in the wall, as I heard the keys hit the floor) and left the truck stuck among others. Online check out was out of the question as my phone, after a long day of moving, was out of juice. I would certainly not recommend UHaul as a corporation, but they seem to be one of the only available options which they clearly knowingly take advantage of. Still better than the time I walked into a Uhaul office and an angry man confronted my friend and I because he thought we were laughing at him.

The self check-in process needs improvement. There should be an option to upload the driver's license and picture of driver earlier and confirm that with the phone. The directions to the car were not easy to follow. Similarly the picture of the key drop box for self-return looked nothing like the actual key drop at the location.

I have never felt inclined to post a review for anything; however, my experience with Uhaul was so poor that I felt this should be seen by others looking to rent. It began with a reservation that I made online in early June, for my September 1st move. I reserved my Uhaul for 24 hours, and proceeded to call and extend that reservation an additional 24 hours. I did this exact same process for my June 1st move without any issues. When I called to extend, I was told this was no problem and that my reservation was updated. At this point 2 months in advance, my reservation was for 5pm on August 30th to September 1st at 5pm. About a week prior to my reservation, I received a text confirming my reservation from 2:30pm on August 30th to 10:30pm on the same day. This was completely inaccurate, and I had confirmation emails from my original reservation to prove it. After sitting for 30 minutes on the phone with Uhaul's useless support, they simply told me it was a busy time of year and they didn't have a truck for me. I realize it is a busy time of year which is why I reserved so far in advance. I asked to speak with a manager who was apparently busy and asked for the corporate line, which I was given a fake number (I Googled it before calling) by the Uhaul rep. I then called corporate through an online number and worked out a new reservation where I had to drive over an hour to pickup the truck because I absolutely needed it and my move was a week away. While on the phone, I requested recordings from my previous phone calls to prove my reservations. I never received them despite the rep saying they would be sent to me immediately following the call. I then picked up my reservation in Somerville as planned and was told that I had to drop it off in Westford MA (close to an hour away) which is not the reservation I organized with corporate over the phone. The rep told me I could change the drop off location by calling a number provided. I called the number and they said I could drop of the truck in Brighton without a problem. Meanwhile, Uhaul decided to change my drop off location to Lowell, MA, which I never requested and this was not detailed in the contract I signed. After arriving at Brighton I was told that I cannot drop the truck off there. After trying to explain my arrangement, I was told never to rent from Uhaul again. Looking back, that was the only statement made by a Uhaul employee that I will listen to. How so many employees at Uhaul can be so incorrect and incompetent is beyond comprehension. This experience caused an already stressful move to be more stressful, expensive, and far more time consuming (5+ hours of extra driving, sitting on the phone, etc..). I plan to dispute unnecessary charges through my credit card company and will advise anyone to never use this pathetic company ever again.
