Jacob SWhen we picked up, the older Hispanic gentleman working had a customer on speaker phone and it was incredibly loud and hard to hear what the person helping me was even saying. I felt bad for the younger kid working, his dad (I assume) showed up and you could tell it embarrassed him, telling him to talk to him and give him a hug in the middle of us getting the paperwork done, then proceeded to sit down with the Hispanic man (that had the customer on speakerphone) talking about the bar, getting fucked up and being extremely unprofessional. Overall, the employee that helped us did a great job and returning it was quick and easy, the female that disconnected us was polite and efficient as well as the older gentleman that was working on the return date, he is usually who helps us and is always very kind and professional.

When we went to return it, they had us pull up in the return line, they unhooked us and said we were good to drive off. I got an email 10 minutes later that I was checked out and thanked me for my business. So fast and easy.

JAN NThe truck we reserved was not there on time. We had to wait for it to be brought back from another customer which interfered with my kids pickup schedule from school. After the truck arrived I was not given any instructions going forward. I was never told how much gas to return the vehicle with, so when I dropped it off it had the same amount as when I received it. But then later I was charged another $96 for gas.

ALEXANDRE EI ordered a car dolly because that was all that available in the area, but when I went to pick it up the place was closed. I went to the uhaul Ube the get a trailer, when I loaded the car on it the tire strap was ripped. I had to deflate the passenger side tire to make it work.

LEE HMy experience with the South Amarillo U-Haul location was fabulous! I booked from Allie's Attic in Lubbock, TX and when I needed to change the size of the rental I called the Amarillo location. The person on the phone was kind, knowledgeable, courteous and was able to make the change necessary. We arrived and our vehicle was ready, clean and we were helped in a very timely manner. It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end!!

Bruce HI parked the truck where it said to return it, then read the sign that said stay with your equipment until a uhaul rep comes out. It was snowing a little and I waited for a while but they never came out to me. I walked in and two men working were behind the counter. They had 1 customer, not sure why they didn’t come out to help me. I told them I was out waiting with my truck I rented and was told “yeah you can just come in”. No respect for the customer.

CHARLES WI had a corner storage area and the dirt that blew into the unit was horrible. There are no wind blocks from the north. I expected dust but not the level we had. You can tell it is bad because outside of the unit there is a pile of dirt about 8-10 inches high and about a 2-3 feet wide. All it would take is a shovel to clear out but no one does and all of it blows into that until eventually. It is an eyesore and we just kept tracking dirt into the unit from the pile out front of our unit. I don’t know how secure it is. Does anyone check if someone doesn’t use the disarm code on the unit? What happens when it is after hours? It seemed more accessible to theft when the fence came down. I was never clear on how the new system was more safe. But I was very clear the time my credit card was stolen and my payment was late. I sent an email apologizing for the problem and explaining my situation and the manager never responded. But you sure got notices on price increases. I think U-Haul is higher than most storage facilities in town and that is why we left. Too many increases in rates.

I would like to know what it is going to cost me so that I can plan. Not listing prices only benefits you. Lack of transparency undermines trust. If I have a choice I wouldn’t use Uhaul again.
KENYON HI was over charged by 44 dollars, double what I originally paid, even after showing photo proof that the mileage was incorrect. Would not come back here, however, in person staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The issue is with the online system

LUIS TTruck was a piece of junk. Engine light on, Pad lock for rear door did not work. Truck was damaged inside cab. Gear shift lever was ready to fall off making it difficult to shift into and out of gears.
RICHARD SRented unit 111 outside unit. Was given a key card and a big speech that it would trip an alarm if I didn't use the card. Arrived at 7pm the same day I rented the unit with 6 vehicles and 2 large trailers to unload. The card would not work, said access denied. There was still a lock on the unit, I called and text the manager (Daniel Sommers) with no response. Called customer service, they said they could not help me. I cancelled the unit two days later. The last 3 times I have been there for propane they tell me they are out of nobody is certified to help. I will never be back

RICKY DI was disappointed we had excellent customer service in the morning when we picked up the truck, but when we got back to pick up the car hauler, not so much. Shift changed and the people working the counter in the late morning were just not interested in being there. We had been assured we'd get some assistance on loading the car and we did not. The early morning crew was AMAZING though!

The storage is very well maintained the thing I like about it the most is the drive-in drop off where it's like a garage that you pull into and you can still access your storage unit so if it's raining or snowing or foul weather you can still access your storage unit without getting wet or blown away

As I walked around the storage area it appeared to be the first floor had many units available but the manager did no want to rent them?

I did get an 15 foot. Asked for rental space on the base floor Did not have! Had to get two units on the third floor very inconvenient, elevator would not hold to get everything on other people need it, of course. equipment was in adequate to move stuff. Regular full-size bed and queen bed was falling over the sides of it.. I have furniture to move it adequate to put on the third floor and have to move it. 2 to 300 feet from elevator inconvenient all the way around had five people helping took over two hours to unload boxes and two mattresses and one couch.. waste of my time and renting the U-Haul need to be refunded the U-Haul because I have to rent one again tomorrow to finish The job! didn’t have access like I was told to the building for 24 hours was told at 8 o’clock could not come back had two more loads at least and there were homeless people staying, there and was told we had to leave bye U Haul people. They said they could do nothing about homeless people being there in the building! So therefore it was unsafe to come back and was unable to come back because both of these situations … Would like my U-Haul money refunded because I have to rent another one to take care of the move and complete what should’ve been completed the day before. I have a Realtor coming tomorrow Monday 26 June. to take pictures of my house which is not ready now. To put on the market for sale. This is a big deal

IBRAHIM T | First ImpressionsI just moved from Dallas to Amarillo in Jan when I rented a unit at this facility. I attempted to move out March 3rd after signing a lease at my new place and the system wouldn’t let me because my payment was do March 1st. I called the customer service line and was told Uhauls policy is to charge you a full month even if you don’t need it for the month because it was past my due date. But the nice representative did state that usually in circumstances like mine the area manager would probably only charge me for the time I needed or prorated.. So I called and was over talked by Abe , he was very rude I asked him to please stop over talking me and let me get a word in and he refused. He also tried to make a side deal with my boyfriend by letting us come pay $80 for one day to let us get into the storage get our things and then he would lock it back up. Crazy right? I refused to agree to that because let’s be honest that’s still a rip off. Long story short I was charged $147 for the month of March and I moved out March 3rd how fair is that? Plus I paid for a moving truck for a day. I have never been treated this way at Budget trucks or Self Storage. Or any storage company for that matter. Most companies allow you to pay a prorated amount upon move out day but not U-Haul. They steal from long time customers or at least this location does. Please beware of this.

jeffery j | First ImpressionsThey only had one size unit available which was still too small I called their other location they had even a smaller unit only available then right at the last minute as I was in the parking lot they informed me at the location I was at that they were able to get me a slightly bigger unit that one had just become available instead of letting me drive off they took the time and consideration I greatly appreciate it I would highly recommend U-Haul for storage and moving it was an interesting experience for the fact that the employees actually cared about someone even like me to walk in and still find me a better unit and not giving up in doing so that is an act of service you do not see too often anymore to go a little above and beyond goes a long way thank you don't stop hiring employees like that and continue your services as is

Moving into my unit should’ve been super easy because I had a reservation, but when I got there you didn’t have a unit available in the size I reserved and your employees tried to railroad me into paying more for a bigger unit when I didn’t need more storage space. If someone makes a reservation you should always be prepared to honor that reservation, or at least honor that price, without customers having to argue with 3 different employees.

Then came back in and another employee told me the exact opposite. It would be great to have all workers on the same page with the company policies to reduce confusion. You refund my money for July storage. Then texts are sent to me about not paying and late charges. Received several of this texts from Dan Somers. It took multiple calls to straighten this out. Poor customer service.

Staff are very helpful and kind, but facility is very understaffed. All I needed to do was check out of my unit and I waited 35 minutes just to hand in a lock and get a receipt. My need was less than 2 minutes long and I waited 35. This is not the first time I have waited here. Great place, but poorly staffed.

Tyler C | Overall ExperienceThe only complaint I have with U-Haul is in regards to the processing automatic draft payments and the $15 dollar processing fee associated with deactivated debit cards. In this modern electronic banking world in which we all live, fraudulent activity on one's debit/bank account is very common occurrence. Fraudulent activity almost always triggers one's debit card to be deactivated by the issuing banking institution and requires the holder of the debit card to contact every entity that has an automatic draft or auto pay associated. Rather than offer a courtesy call, email, etc. when a payment is declined by a debit card that has been deactivated due to fraudulent activity, U-Haul simply adds a $15 fee as if the account was overdrawn. The storage facility to which I moved to does not tack on ridiculous fees and offers a courtesy call when payment cannot be processed.
Mike M | Overall ExperienceHad a vehicle in storage for months and turns out this location leaves the gate open all hours of the day and night and pays no attention to customer belongings. I decided to have the car shipped to me upon finding this out, the truck driver was able to enter the facility, work with a local tow driver, get to the back where my truck was, load it and drove off without so much as a gate code. Had also been trying to get in contact with the employees on location to help set up the shipping and for over a month all I could reach is corporate customer service because the location refused to answer or return any calls. I also ended up paying an extra month because of the same issue. Do not reccomend. Search elsewhere for a storage facility.
