The staff was very friendly. However, while there were options for the drop off location shown on the screen, I one was chosen for me. When I asked if it was the closet, I was told yes. If my destination was the red pin, I distinctly remember seeing drop off options closer to my destination. I know what was selected for me was not the closest (after the fact) due to the configuration and how far out of the way I had to go. I called this location when preparing to drop off to see if I could get it changed due to them taking away my choice. They told me to check if the designated location was okay with the change. Upon called in the designated drop off location I was informed I could be charged a fee if I dropped off at the wrong location. And that fee could be in the hundreds. Long story short, my options were taken away from me making a stressful trip and moving journey even more stress fun. I passed many uhaul sites on the way to my drop off site. I should have been offered a discount and a choice to go out so far to drop off. Especially if you get a set number of miles before you get charged per mile. The only discount offered is if I were to bring an additional trailer with me and I certainly did not need the added stress. I would have been furious if uhaul had set me up like that and I were doing this alone.

3 times they delayed the promised delivery of my containers for various ridiculous reasons. When they finally came, the containers were on a double trailer not facing the same direction, making it impossible to unload. On top the lady on the phone was very unfriendly. Terrible!!!

My truck did not have a functioning taillight or a left blinker- very unsafe for the mileage I needed to travel. When I called the dispatch location, they were hesitant to even look up my information when I told them I had an unsafe vehicle. They told me to call the roadside assistance number and delay my trip. To the credit of the drop off location (St. Augustine) she was helpful in filing a report and advised me to be safe on the road. The Summerville dispatch location employee (Christopher B.) gave me a vehicle without checking the safety status of the lights- this is unacceptable service. It was dangerous for me to drive the vehicle and there was no concern for my safety. I will not be recommending this service or location to anyone, nor will I be using them again. Safety checks need to happen before the truck leaves the lot.

TIMOTHY HEnsure that the equipment being rented is in correct working order. This particular trailer had 2 issues. The wheel well fold-down did not work correctly and bound on the side of the trailer. I had to slam it open and shut. One of the wheel strap ratchets did not lock. I had to use zip-ties to keep it from unlocking.
BLAINE PFirst of all, the workers were very friendly! However, I was very upset with my experience. I had to turn around because they forgot to give me the key. Then when on the interstate, I received another call asking me to look for personal keys in the truck . I had to pull over on the interstate to look for them. They asked me to call back to tell them if I found them or not. When calling back I was on hold for awhile and then someone answered who was not even at the store. While talking with this person, I missed my exit!!!!!!!!!!!!! He put me on hold while I was driving and I had to wait again. I was a nervous wreck before I got to my location. I do NOT like talking on the phone while driving. It was NOT safe. I think you guys owe me some money back for the extra miles I put on the truck for having to turn around to the the truck key and when I was dealing with the key issue and missing my exit because I was talking to your employees instead of on my Google Map!
Melissa SThe communication is lacking, I called several times to the 866 line telling them that we will be using our own truck and hitch to come pick up the U Box, when we came to pick it up no one had any record of this and the U Box wasn’t on the trailer. Jackson was helpful and they found a trailer but after being reassured on the phone that the box would be on a trailer and it wasn’t. Same thing with the box being dropped off back in MD, they said there were no notes and didn’t know where to put the U Box. I had called 3-4 times and everyone assured me they would communicate this to the person delivering.
Emily LI still don't understand why I had to wait an entire week for my stuff to get shipped to the new location when it was only a 4 hour drive away. I was forced to delay starting at my new job because you couldn't deliver my containers for an entire week which prevented me from having the stuff necessary to start my job. If you have customers throwing away thousands of dollars for these things you could have a better sense of urgency in regards to shipping. I will not be using your services again for this very reason. Your corporate policies/regulations pertaining to timely transportation are garbage. If I could rate my overall level of satisfaction, I would give it a single dull star.
Brian WImproved coordination for home delivery is needed. Our U-boxes were initially sent to a location that couldn't deliver to our new address, requiring us to contact U-Haul corporate to arrange the correct delivery. Despite this, everything else was excellent and went smoothly, especially the communication between the home delivery personnel. They are incredible!

MICHAEL EI called UHaul the day before my UBox was supposed to be delivered to confirm delivery. They let me know that they only have ONE delivery driver and that the driver would be unexpectedly out until the next week. They didn't even reach out to tell me this - I had to call to be told! They offered no solutions to our issue of needing the box the next day. I had to scramble to think of an idea and we ended up renting a pickup truck to pull the UBox ourselves. This added over 2 hours of driving, our personal gas money, and tons of stress for myself and my family. The UHaul location offered NO discount on our reservation of the rental truck or UBox itself. We were extremely displeased with the service we received and will not be recommending this service or location to friends and family.

JUSTIN AU-Haul could not pick up the boxes due to a family emergency with the driver. They did not have a backup driver so the boxes sat a few extra days in the driveway which interfered with other deliveries and our move in. Otherwise I still highly recommend u-haul and will use them again.

Had a reservation at the Rivers Ave location and was told my truck was moved to the Dorchester rd location 10 minutes after I was supposed to pick it up. After I arrived to pick up my truck I was rudely told to be patient and that my truck was moved because it has been rented to someone else. Mind you I rented this truck 5 days prior to pick up date. I then was directed to the Dorchester location as being the next closest location I could pick up at. This was 40 minutes away from my old house and about 40 minutes from the new house. I would not have chosen this spot because it was further to get to the location of the truck then it was too either of my houses I was moving from. In turn my whole move was delayed because I had to wait around and then drive to the Dorchester location an hour later. All in all terrible experience.
STACI AI booked the reservation early of last week when I arrived to the Ace hardware location on college Park road they did not have my reservation nor did they have the equipment I request. I then had to call 1-800 go U-Haul in which she found me the truck I needed but failed to ask how long I needed it for. So upon arrival to pick up the truck The person at the counter said I had 6 hours I needed a full day worth. He extended the time frame to 7:00 which was the next reservation for someone else told me that was the best he could do I ended up having to pay two people to work through the night to get a four bedroom house move absolutely ridiculous on their part

The lack of information within the same company almost cost me.

I waited almost two hours, after arriving at 7am, for access to my new unit and U Boxes. This was a serious issue for my health and inconvenience to the family members I brought with me to assist. The manager was very nice and tried to assist, but she needs more help in the office, and on the grounds. All staff should be trained to complete all the tasks as I had to wait for an employee trained and comfortable with accessing the U boxes to arrive at work. While I appreciate the effort of the GM to access my U boxes and her honesty about not being comfortable operating the fork lift, it was quite upsetting as it was hot and we arrived early to beat the heat. In addition, I have rheumatoid arthritis and am on pain meds with time limits. Having to wait almost 2 hours lessened the amount of time I had to unload and we have to return on another day--Saturday. I hope that on Saturday 7/18/24, my remaining two U boxes will be accessible and ready for me to finish unloading.

Trash, dirt, and furniture frequently littered the outside of units. After less than two mouth we found signs of droppings within unit so immediately moved to a newer more secure storage facilty which cost additional time and money. Also found the storage unit area not easily accessibe since you had to step outside vehicle to punch in code or swipe card to gain entry into gate.

I asked him did I need to pay now he said no you will pay when you pick the truck up. On the day of my reservations after my arrival I was told they didn’t have any more of the sizes that I made reservations for. The gut working front desk wasn’t knowledgeable about a lot nor helpful. The general manager was a little more helpful and apologized.

When I inquired of the staff for instructions of how to handle the claims they were not much help and now I’m finding out that the instructions Bethany and another male staff to take pictures and throw away the damaged clothes and other items may not be right and may cause me not to be able to recuperate a great deal of my loss. No I won’t send my worst enemy to the place where my stuff was damaged, the unit was overrun by spiders and spider web and the staff are not knowledgeable of every process…worst of all when I asked about my contract number so I could do the claim form, they put me on hold and never came back…thankfully the number was on a message correspondence I received from them

When I arrived the day of my move, the staff could only offer a 20' truck. While inconvenient, Bethany authorized a discount for the additional trips I was required to make as a result of not having the needed vehicle.
jeri J | Overall ExperienceThe entrance and exit is congested by uhauls that could be moved to a big empty lot beside the facility. You have to wait a waste gas while trying to enter because some else is trying to exit. The are uhauls stored in the driving space in the storage area. I rented a 26 foot truck and had maneuver around them I also had to go out on the main road and come back into the storage area because the entrance was blocked. So the gas I had just put in for the return was being wasted because of the inconvenience. I want be putting in any more gas and I don't expect to be charged and I expect a full return of my deposit. I will be calling the corporate office with a serious complaint because from the start they messed up my reservation. Calls are recorded for quality and I'm always very specific. Your staff in person are so involved with their cell phones and can't pay better attention to the customer in front of them and I'm certain the same thing is going on with the phone conversation and this is why orders are not taken properly. For me this is not the first time.

BARBARA C | Overall ExperienceUHaul pushed my drop-off date a few days due to the hurricane. They neglected to also push my storage reservation, and I was informed by Andrew McCain that I had no reservation, and that I was supposed to be at the UHaul at 4788 Dorcester Road. He was confused, as that is where I was supposed to drop off my trailer the following morning at 7 AM. Mr. McCain could not tell me if any units were available, and I had to call the main UHaul number, make a new reservation, and only then would Mr. McCain set me up in the system. He was very quiet and seemed very confused for most of our interaction. I had been informed by UHaul that I had access to my unit until 10 PM, but Mr. McCain informed me that my access was shut off at 5:00 PM due to construction. This was at 4:35 PM. I asked if I could unload my trailer, and he coldly said "I can't allow you to do that, sir." Seeing as my access to my unit would be limited to office hours for the indeterminate future, I said "You know what? Cancel my reservation." He said "Okay, you can go sir." I called UHaul again and made a reservation at another storage location, and when I went there the next day, they had no record of a reservation. So I went to CubeSmart. A free month of storage with UHaul is not worth the hassel.

I was told they would void my late fee. Then I find out you have two late fees. Only one was voided. Prices are ridiculously HIGH!!!!!! I will never get a storage unit with u-haul again. I will tell anyone asking about u-haul not to either.

Luis C | Overall ExperienceWe had our storage unit for 10 years and really had no issues until the past year. The management decided to allow storage of RVs, cars, and trailers onsite. This decision made it dangerous for a tenant to access their unit due to the fact that they would have to park in the roadway while onsite. I found it very frustrating when there was limited access to the building that our storage unit was located in. U-Haul should not allow this practice until such time that have the room to safely do so.
