DOMINICK GRented the 15 foot truck prefect size moved my apartment into my new apartment complex. I wouldn’t have fit with a bigger truck but the one I chose for perfectly. The guys at the store helped my pick my truck size and I’m grateful that’s why they are the experts!!! I also set up to have a hitch installed on my SUV so that the next time I can rent a trailer instead. Pleased with the service

KYLEJAMES DPicked up the van with the Uhaul app and it was a lot easier than i thought. I was scared because i usually dont use mobile check outs, but the instructions were clear and easy to understand.

Michael PUsed the van to move my units had a couple questions about the rental and the guys on the phone were very helpful. I moved to a bigger unit the storage is very clean and inviting.

FILIPPO QI would recommend this pick up place ONLY IF: There is a HUNAM on site to help when it takes you 1/2 hour to get the information inputted correctly on the app and your screen doesn't keep going blank at the same spot! after contacting the local rental in Nesconset and 1800UHAUL calling me to help me get accepted to get my Key Code; they had to come help me in person anyway. HIRE MORE STAFF!!!!!

Andrea CToo many on-site smartphone requests during the pickup process. Tasks such as scanning my driver's license could have been requested while I was at home, on Wi-Fi, and making the initial reservation. While it worked, the process was slow and cumbersome over cellular.

Judith GOvercharged in every conceivable way. The Uhaul rep said $20 on the phone. Then I find out $20.00 plus $1.50 per mile. Then I get my invoice and UHaul tacks on 45 miles I never drove. The invoice says I drove 64 miles !!!! That’s like driving to New York City and back. Meanwhile, I moved furniture from Smithtown to St James - Maybe 15 miles. Maybe. In other words, your company stole $100 from me, and no one had the nerve to call me.

Alan BThe van was fine, but on UHaul’s end, you must make clear to the customer that they’ve signed up for mobile pick up and what that means. I had no idea that I was going to a location with no actual person. My entire day was delayed as a result. For someone like me who hasn’t used U-Haul in two years, I had no idea What was going on. Please do a better, clearer job of altering people that they signed up for mobile pick up.

shahid rIn order to rent the vehicle Internet service is required via a strong cellular signal. The signal at this location is very very poor.
Robert DRenting from the U-Haul Storage at Bellemeade Ave location (Smithtown, NY) was a pain. The website advertises supplies to rent or buy (boxes, moving blankets, etc.) but there were no supplies on site. If you want to pick up the advertised moving supplies you just have to drive your rented truck with its $0.99/mile fee a couple of miles to another U-Haul location. The website does not mention that this is an "unmanned" facility, which was posted on the door when I arrived. There was an intercom on the outside wall of the building, and the lady on the other end was very nice and as helpful as she could be from 2 miles away. She suggested I check in online; this was an option when reserving online but it was not at all indicated that online check-in would be required. She suggested I use a smart phone; I don't have a smartphone, and neither does my friend who was there with me wasting his afternoon waiting for me to rent a moving van. She then told me I'd need to come to the U-Haul site where she was, again 2 miles away, basically adding $4 to my mileage charge and subtracting half an hour from my day. As I was leaving, a U-Haul worker happened to stop by the building, and was very friendly and helpful actually renting the truck I reserved to me in person. He explained that the site was recently unmanned and that he was only there occasionally for the attached self-storage facility. "Would you recommend this location to a friend?" I have already warned friends NOT to use this location. Your Smithtown/Ronkonkoma employees are very nice and helpful. Van was great, no problems.
Joseph CThe staff was excellent and the facility well maintained. The vehicle was great! However, the scrutiny of the vehicle on the return was like I rented a Mercedes. It is a moving truck and to really look for each mark and scratch inside is a little over the top. The check-in attendant told me that they really make them go over each truck with a fine tooth comb. Looks like they are looking to make $$$ on the return for damages and scratches. Just the feeling I got. I've rented from other locations and never inspected to this extent. May have to think about trying another location

JACQUES TNot Charge > $1.00 USD for miles..... By the time a customer gets it to their initial destination, from the U-Haul location, the cost exceeds the amount of the truck. I would not recommend U-Haul to anyone... I would tell anyone moving to just get a moving company. If you are going to pay that much, then someone should be moving your furniture for you. I know you'll do nothing to change this policy, but felt I should extend my displeasure with your service..... The employees at the location were excellent.... corporate, however, could rot in hell. Happy Holidays!
