customer service is terrible. I have been charged 4X. Supposedly I have been refunded/credited back the mistaken charges, but have received no receipts showing such, even after multiple requests. I will wait to see if my credit card is charged that many times!

ABELINO LThe gentleman that attended to me was very nasty and rude and when you ask him questions, he gave a nasty comment and attitude towards me and other people as I witnessed and if you look up my name, I was a U-Haul provider two months ago up in Fresh metal lanes and never did I ever treat any of my customers like that and I let him know that as well They need to be taught how to speak to people at the end of the day. The customers are the ones what makes U-Haul keep going.

ASHTONLANCE KI had one of the least pleasant customer service experiences in my life Tuesday morning. The woman who was working there gave me so much unnecessary attitude, was rude to me, and unkind about the pick-up process. I was not told I would need 3 separate phone contacts to verify me live, in real-time. Based on this process, I was told one contact at a time I needed to be verified. By the time I called a second friend, the first customer service rep timed me out. By the time I called a 3rd friend, the 2nd contact timed me out. I spent 45 minutes checking out a van, while this woman at the desk treated me disdainfully. The vehicle itself is fine, the folks cleaning the cars are fine. The woman at the desk single-handedly ruined my experience. Please train/screen your folks better, thanks.

Dennis DEveryone I encountered was top notch! The guy behind the counter was EXCELLENT managing 15 customers all by himself. He could fix my location sharing (which I didn't love to have to do, btw) and got us checked out super quickly and efficeintly. Driving back in was a slam dunk and the folks cleaning out the van were fantastic as well!
Anne HInsane process to get a truck/van. Counter person was an absolute jerk. It’s the classic corporate greed foundation. One person doing a job of 3. Having consumer do all the work that U haul should do. AI will soon replace the disgruntled worker and will make the situation even worse. Technology works to some degree but not working here. The tension from every person going through process to spend crazy money for a shit truck and lack of service was crazy. Never again…

Olympia MCheck in staff was great but the rest of the experience was not good. When I got the vehicle, there was a check engine light and a check tire pressure light. I asked the person who was outside with the vehicles to put air in the tire. He said it did not need air. The light sensor was broken, but the tire pressure was fine. I was nervous the whole time I had the vehicle that I was going to get a flat tire. When returning the vehicle, there was a very long line of people to return vehicles. It could have been handled much more efficiently. After a long day of moving, I just wanted to return the truck and get home. It was exhausting to have to wait to be able to return it.

GLADYS STwo major things disappointed me. Firstly I called customer services from the United Kingdom to book a u-haul which transpires unless you can show USA ID you can’t hire. Fortunately my son had ID so he drove. The truck had 0 miles left in gas (zero!!) how can you give a truck out like that plus the most dented dirty truck I have seen with an oil change light on the dash and a truck cabin that could not be locked from the outside.

Chelsea BHi team! The staff was friendly, helpful and fast, everything was great! The truck was in satisfactory condition! It was not quite correct in my opinion to charge for 2 gallons of fuel, since the mileage for the entire rental was 5 miles! If the truck can only travel 2.5 miles per gallon, then everything is definitely bad with it ; )

John RFront desk customer service is absolutely terrible. Mid 20s male at counter is one of the rudest and unnecessarily aggressive people I’ve ever encountered. Other customers came in and all were astounded by his behavior. I kept my mouth shut because I knew he had my credit card and could possibly act out or create false damage reports. One of the strangest experiences I’ve ever had at a business in my life.

ELVIN MI am from Texas but my son attends school in NYC. I was nervous moving him to his new apartment and renting a U-Haul but to my surprise it went very smooth. The lady at the desk was very helpful. I was having problems with the app and my references and she took time to help me.
Mary SThe truck & dollies were reserved weeks in advance. When I showed up, there were no furniture dollies available, which put the entire move at risk. The people behind the counter didn't seem to care - they just said that dollies aren't guaranteed. If that's the case, then why reserve them? I had to go and buy my own. The truck had less than 1/4 of a tank of gas left when I picked it up, so it was running on fumes by the time I was done. There are not many gas stations in lower manhattan, but they saw that as my problem. And then I was told to return it with 1/4 tank - there's no easy way to do that... Good location, but poor customer service.

Scott CThe employees were extremely rude. Ruder than you would even expect someone working in an understaffed service position. They made me feel like I personally offended them by just showing up. Not only was I reprimanded for asking a question, my elderly mother was given more attitude than I’ve ever seen. In addition, and I’m not sure if this is in the employees’ hands, but I was given the rental with 10 MILES LEFT IN THE TANK. For something you pay for by the hour and by the mile, needing to spend an HOUR round trip to get gas in Manhattan was less than appreciated.

LILLY AI watched as an agent was very rude and belittling to another customer. Another agent treated me with disdain and annoyance. The furniture dolly that I booked was not available. As he walked away dismissively,, the male agent told me the cost was going to be removed from the bill. it clearly wasn't. I tried to wait to speak with the agent and adjust the cost, but there were too many customers waiting. I shouldn't have to pay for the $7 fee for a rental that wasn't available. Unfortunately, this location is the closest to me, so I am forced to use it. When I find other options, I won't be returning.

Patrick MAs stated above, we were told bu the new haven state street office at pickup that there was an after hours (post 7pm) dropoff available at the Chelsea location. There wasn't and it was a big deal for my son to scramble and find available parking for this ten foot truck which took nearly two hours.
