The people who work there don't understand customer service. They talk to you like you are wasting their time. Plus all trucks didn't even have a 1/4 of a tank of gas. Considering this is Manhattan and getting gas isn't easy this was a horrible experience. Now think about the rental experience online where I had been told I can do a self service pickup and I couldn't do that at all. Plus I had to go through the entire process with my credit card and license and wait in a line even though this was 7 AM.

No one at equipment drop off point. Waited several minutes and finally had to go into customer service to get someone to check my returned equipment in. This also caused a backup of returning trucks, as there were 5 people waiting behind me. Employee who checked me in was extremely unprofessional, he was on a personal phone call almost the entire time.

Excellent service and product. Your integrated record keeping (hand held devices) showed top notch coordination. One exception: It is difficult for an old man, who, when entering a vehicle looks for the clutch, the choke, the spark advance and the gear shift, to know he has to turn the steering wheel to the left before starting the truck...? Come on !

I reserved my vehicle to pickup before opening time. I arrived to pickup my vehicle, and it was not where it was supposed to be. I spent over an hour on the phone with customer service, and only was able to ultimately get a vehicle (a different size from what I wanted) when someone arrived and was able to give me the key. The people there were rude about it, and I was late, since I had reserved the vehicle for 5 AM, but wasn't able to actually leave until 6:45AM!

While check in was fast, check out was very slow. I waited in the bay for more than 10 minutes for someone to come help. I went to the front desk to get help and while there were four associates there talking and doing everything but work, I was told I needed to go back and wait by the truck and someone would come help. I go back and wait another 3 or 4 minutes and then a nice young man come out. He has about 6 other vehicles he has influence front of me that needs to be moved up before he can even get my truck fully in the bay. He finally checks me out and apologized for the delay. Meanwhile I look in the window and see those same 4 associates laughing and talking as one person does all the work. While I was there another renter was overheard complaining saying the front desk staff was very unhelpful. I couldn't agree more.

Very few cashiers, so it took 15 minutes of waiting with just a few customers in the store. Also, there was a truck blocking the truck that had been assigned to me, and there was no hurry to get it moved so that I could be on my way.

Firstly, I did not receive the dolly as requested. I did a self-service on that day and had trouble opening the locker to get car key. Because the code provided was wrong. The online self-service website indicated that the code had 4 digits (2034), while the locker only had 3 digits. What made it worse was that the so-called "24-hour phone" was not responding. I had to waste half an hour to solve the problem.

Can the process of being able to leave the truck at a different location be made easier? I was not able to do it. A reservation was needed. Wish that was on the web page. There was an offer for $0.79 a mile but I was paying $1.59. I think that is high. I would have gone to a competitor but they did not have a van available close to me.

Sorry the storage part is closing down- all of the employees helpful and personable. Figure out how to shorten the time spent waiting on line to pick up a rental vehicle.

Are use the online locator to find the closest location for pick up. And it gave me one that was very far is I found out after I pick up the van. It gave me one about 10 miles away versus the location that was about a mile away from where I am and from where I was going . This cost about an extra $20 as they charged $1.59 per mile driven. Additionally, the rear bumper on the van was so damaged from the parking practices that the location uses to store the vehicles that it took two of us to open it and had to slam it closed because it impeded the door. In this process my friends hand was cut on a piece of metal that was rough on the bumper. He is going in for a tetanus shot. Finally, when I returned the van the person doing the check in asked me my name and then asked if my parents had given it to me because it was such a weird name. It was very poor service. After this I would avoid the Chelsea Uhaul 100% and also go through a competitor as the website algorithm did not give me the nearest rental location but instead found one that allowed them to charge me more. Very predatory and not okay.

One of the staff definitely did not know how to relate to a customer. Everyone else sure knew and they were friendly and efficient. Even if you cannot help someone right away it doesn't hurt to express yourself in a kinder manner. The lady who DID eventually help me was just fine.

I would recommend this location only because of its convenience; however my experience was not ideal. When I got to the store, I was the only customer there with 2 employees at desks and was asked to wait before being helped. Upon the woman offering to help me, she had to reboot her system (which she was having issues being authorized to use) and reload the contract a few times because of technical issues. I had done the "quick" checkout online which should have made the process much faster, but I was still asked for some of the same information that I had already provided (e.g. license #, preferred drop-off location, etc). Also, I had opted online NOT to include the insurance and when I was asked to pay, I had a balance that now included it. When I told the woman I didn't want that, we had to start the whole process over, which added additional time and frustration. While we were being helped, a storage customer interrupted our transaction asking for another employee, to which my employee responded unprofessionally to. Once we took care of the contract, she sent me to bay D to pick up the truck and told me she had radioed a colleague to meet me there. Upon getting to D, no employees were in sight. After finding an employee (who seemed to feel it wasn't his responsibility to help us), he showed us the truck that was supposed to be mine. However, there was another employee's car blocking the exit. He went to find someone else to help us, who also seemed like he had other things to be taking care of. I also realized there was a leftover food container in the driver's seat of the truck as a remnant smell of the food; not ideal getting a dirty truck or one that an employee has been using for his/her lunch break. The newest employee who was helping us tried to call the owner of the car that was blocking our exit, but he wasn't able to get ahold of him/her. At this point, he had to go back to the office and get a key for a different truck. Luckily, we didn't have to go through the contract again, but this whole process added at least 30 minutes to the process, making it take close to an hour in what seems like it could have been done in 15 minutes if done properly. One good thing is that the employee did pull the truck out of the crammed bay of trucks, which I appreciated. Overall, there were a lot of issues that seemingly could have been avoided. Overall, the truck was fine, but the pickup experience left a lot to be desired.
