Edward TInternational Blvd. In Oakland is the heart of gang land. Having to dodge the homeless, and "day workers" hassling you for their "help" is not conducive to a great experience. However, once inside, employees are nice, and helpful.

He was assisting another customer with putting some boxes in their car, a courtesy I rarely see anymore. When he helped me he was very friendly, casual yet professional and accommodating. I have rented here before and after my experience would rent here again for sure. A knowledgeable and pleasant staff makes all the difference. five stars from me.

EDWARD TPerson who let me take trailer didn’t check for damages. So I took pics myself. Then when I returned it another employee wasn’t gonna check it either and there was a significant smash in the passenger wheel well. So I walked him over and told him it wasn’t me, that the guy previous didn’t check and I have pics. He was sorta rude and asked to see the pics. It wasn’t my responsibility to do so but I’m glad I did. Shitty service

THOMAS MThis particular trailer was in rough shape. It had two low tires that had shoulder/sidewall damaged and had to be replaced. Luckily I noticed this the night before I left. Although the brake lights worked, the tail lights (lights that come on with headlights) did not work. This should really be checked before leaving the yard. The safety cables were also frayed, not so much that it was a safety hazard but was sharp enough to break skin.
JUSTIN SThe pickup center was fine. Communications with UHaul over phone and text were not good. We only found out at the last minute our pick-up location had been changed from a 9 min. drive to an hour drive. After I complained (many phone calls and much waiting later) it was changed to a 40 minute drive. The centralized phone and text system is a disaster. I may look at other rental options next time.

JUAN CCustomer service rep was excellent however, the truck was out of gas and we ran out a few blocks away from picking up A we were able to get gas and get on our way, but it did cause a delay not her fault
CALEB PMy "No" response is too strong of a negative assessment. The 6x12 enclosed trailer was clean inside and ready for loading. However, several of the exterior running lights and tail lights were damaged and/or non-operable. Given that my transit with the trailer included after-dark conditions, this was not satisfactory. U-Haul staff were very couteous and professional.

RONALD JSide mirrors did not stay in position. I informed the manager of this problem. The parking lot surface is very rough. Lots of potholes. Needs a new surface.

ROBBIN HI didn't like how my reservation was switched from a closer location to here, but the owner and staff made up for it a bit with good customer service. My truck smelled like the prior renter smoked marijuana, so it could have used a clean out. Also, the dome light was broke, but I only needed it for one day and didn't have it at night so no biggie. Finally, there was cracked bits of glass in the back from prior renter (must have dropped something because he was high?). It could have used a better sweep out. But, hey, it's a rental truck. Good people, prompt service, I'll be back. Thank you!

LAWRENCE Ptrailer rental process is not convenient. I was told one location 10 miles from our hotel and the trailer was not there. Then sent 40 miles away to another location. they offered a $50 credit which was wiped away due tor $23 in tolls to get there. plus fuel and time.
EDWARD MIt was this location that I picked up the trailer that I drove across country last summer and I had absolutely no problems. Today they detached my trailer without incident. I expressed what happened and they were shocked. The people at this location are well trained, and have excellent customer support.

DONALD WMy original pick up location was not equipped to manage my reservation. The pick up location was changed from time of reservation to day of pick up to a location that could only accommodate 24/7 online pick-up even though my account was not setup for it. I attempted to set it up prior and was unable to. I spent an hour on the phone with u-haul representatives to get it setup unsuccessfully before being switched back to the original location that I chose. They were able to help me without further delay. I will never agree to pick up from the other location again.
Thomas PWe filled the gas tank up to the fuel level I was when we rented the truck. One technician thought the fuel level was too low. I took a picture of the fuel gauge and showed it to the manager. He waived the fuel fee. I liked the manager's friendly service when we rented the truck and when we returned it. We will definitely go back the next time we need to rent a truck.

OMEGA CWe were given one rate, used the vehicle, and upon return the same day the rate and the entire receipt had changed. The customer service rep who took the truck back could not adequately explain anything. She had an attitude, talked crazy and shut the door in our faces while we were talking to her without explaining anything.
KELLY AI had the most positive experience with your Oakland location on Feb 13. In the past, I had only rented from Connecticut facilities, which were perfectly acceptable. This time, my experience signing in and checking out were exemplary. I forget the name of the gentleman who checked me in, but he was very friendly and kind and offered top notch service. My experience returning the vehicle with Jesus was once again an exemplary experience. I have had positive service in CT with UHaul, as I mentioned, but the service in Oakland was next level. These gentlemen on Feb 13 were truly kind, patient, competent, and I am beyond impressed with the Oakland branch. I only write reviews occasionally when they are really warranted. This one was deserving of a top notch shout out. THank you gentlemen, for making my experience a positive one! :) See you next time I'm in Oakland visiting my brother!
ELIZABETH MAt the time I came into service pick up the truck personal was very helpful. My compliant is at the time of drop off service was very unprofessional would not answer my questions I had concerning the cleaning fee. I tried to explain that I did clean the truck to the best of my ability, and I did not have a water hose to wash the truck. I made sure that there was no debris left in the truck.

Sumner PI want to especially note the excellent staff. The only notable thing was that the UHaul online check-out glitched and it took a long time to verify the mileage and fuel level. I also thought it was unhelpful to have preset distances to take pictures of the vehicle for check-out to establish the condition of the vehicle b/c he defaults to have you stand very far from the vehicle which is not possible if it is near another vehicle/wall/fence. I had to move the van ahead several feet at an angle just so I could take the picture. It's also bad practice to finish this check-out process and not immediately receive verification of everything I've noted. Otherwise everything was wonderful. Thank you!

JALEN AKept trying to book an auto transport trailer here but confirmation text message kept saying it got transferred to Concord location. Why? Online system clearly said trailer available. Had to use a dolly instead. Also, why will the system not save my towed vehicle? Or my ID/phone numbers and so on. I've come to this location a dozen times, every time resubmitting everything from scratch. This is not the experience you want for returning customers who routinely rent the same equipment for track use.
DENIS IThe young man that completed my transaction charged me for insurance even though I declined “safe move” insurance. In fact, I repeatedly declined insurance and was assured that the incorrect charge was taken off. When I returned the vehicle and attempted to review the charges at the UHaul store, I was told that I could not. And that I would be charged automatically. I am concerned that fraudulent activity is occurring in this store. My credit card was charge fraudulently without my consent.
JULIANA YStaff friendly, not helpful. First off I never rented this thing. This is the worst expirence I have ever had with any retailer. It took 2+ months to get this resolved. Won't use uhaul again
