The truck was very loose in the front end and took real effort to drive and I would say bored dangerous. The steering wheel was off 90 degrees and vehicle seemed to have a drift to it like an alignment problem. The brakes wear soft and required extra distance to stop both load and unloaded. They also made a squealing noise . The ac was very cold so it was nice considering the 90 plus heat . To summarize the location was good and I liked the manager , and I would rent again however if I got another truck that felt like this I would bring it back and demand another or take my business elsewhere. I did feel the truck was somewhat unsafe and a driver that was less experienced may have had some more serious issues or an accident. Mho

So Truckshare 24/7 did not work well. Thankfully the location manager was on site and made up for the crummy app. So location is recommended, Truckshare is not.

Pick up location was originally supposed to be Blacksburg, VA but they called us the day before and moved us to Roanoke over 40 miles away. This was because the original pick up location didnt have any trucks available. This added an additional hour and a half to our moving day. In addition, we spent over an hour on the phone with customer service addressing this complaint and were transferred 3 times in the process, eventually to a dead line where we waited for 20 minutes and no one picked up. The only thing they offered us for our inconvenience was an additional 60 miles on the truck, which covered the additional miles needed for the moving truck but nothing in regards to miles, gas or time spent driving another car to go pick up the truck.

Furniture pads were not ready at scheduled pickup time. Truck size we ordered not there on pickup day.. this caused us to drive a larger more difficult truck which used more gas.

Make sure everything works properly on vehicle. The sliding door on the van i rented did not work. It had been sprung, jammed from the previous rental, causing my Wife and me to work twice as hard climbing in and out from the back of the van. The man was nice enough to deduct $20.00 from the price, but i would have much rather paid full price for a working unit.

The app didn’t work correctly so I needed to see an attendant for complete the transaction. If it would have been after hours I would not have been able to get the truck. But the attendant was very helpful and quick to process the order.

More than one person working on a Saturday. We returned the uhaul at 3 and it wasn't able to be processed till 6 because they were so busy. The man working was doing the best he possibly could. He just needed a helper.

I rent from this location all the time. This time I got my truck drove 6 miles and the battery was dead. I had to pay 20.00 to get a jumpstart. I called store prior to doing so and was told to call roadside assistance which had over a 2 hour wait time. Not good this time.

The reservation website is horrible. It allowed me to reserve a vehicle on line. I received a phone call later telling me that neither the vehicle choice or the location would be honored. When I went to pick up my vehicle it wasn’t available yet because the reservation system assumed the prior customer would return the vehicle on time but did not

The truck was clean,the employee was nice and well informed but honestly I feel like it should not have cost $112 plus $20 for gas to rent a truck for a half a day. The extra fees,taxes and $1.19/mile tripled the price of the rental,that is completely ridiculous. And then was encouraged to bring it back in less than 24 hours but didnt save me any money to return the truck early.

What could be improved is the fact that I made an appt to pick up the uhaul a wk ahead of time in christiansburg (10 min)but the day before was told I had to reschedule my pickup and drive an hr just to pick it up 1 way and an hr back . Not convenient at all! That’s was more mileage a well . Thank god we didn’t go over the mileage allowance from va to sc

The poor rating is for uhaul reservations not the location. It was a horrible experience finding out the day before my move that no equipment was available despite my reservation. It was an awful experience. Eventually they were able to secure a truck for me but I had to stand my ground to get it.

The online reservation and check in process was a disaster; it's apparent that Uhaul hasn't tested it adequately. Following instructions to confirm the reservation I was put on hold twice, waited ten minutes, transferred twice and hung up on after receiving a recording that Uhaul was closed for Christmas - in May. When I called back I was on hold for another ten minutes and no one answered. When picking up the truck the process did not work and no one answered the chat session request. Thank goodness there was competent staff on site to help me.

Although there are always room for improvements, the system was up and down the day we rented but the staff handled the situation well and kept us informed every step of the way so we were still able to get our rental and we were very appreciative of this. We have utilized this location over the years and have never been disappointed.

We did have to wait behind 3 customers when the doors opened at 9:00am. There was only one person working and he was trying to check in vehicles and hook up trailers to customers cars and give out other vehicles. I would suggest more than one opener.

The trailer i rented was for some reason a trailer that did not pull well at all. It bounced constantly as if the wheels were not balanced.. Nothing has happened like this before. Your person at the store said he would look into it. Whatever that means. This rental was not a good experience at all.

I picked up the truck with "a half" tank of gas. It was really a little under, more like 7/16. But I let it go. The truck did not handle well, felt like I was swerving the entire time, but we only used it for 13 miles so it was fine. The thing that really got me was that I put three gallons in before I dropped it off, putting the tank at a TRUE half tank. I'm a generous guy, sure why not. I get my final receipt a couple hours after drop-off and I was charged extra for 3 gallons of gas. Mind you I only drove 13 miles, so apparently uhaul determined that would require SIX gallons. Completely ridiculous. You know, the trucks aren't that nice to begin with, but they're cheap. Well, I'd rather go to Penske and rent a much nicer truck and not get shafted for gas that wasn't even needed. If U-haul's goal is to rip off their customers, they are doing a fantastic job! Done with it, going somewhere else next time.

Try not submitting additional purchase authorizations for the difference in the quote and the total after payment. I will never suggest your service to anyone, your literally holding my money hostage after I paid for the service. Sure it's in "writing" but nobody told me you guys practice holding additional funds just for the sake of doing it. Terrible way of doing business will never suggest you guys to anyone ever again. It's nice that I have to wait a week to have access to my money after payment was processed. Get with the times, holds authorized after payment are unacceptable. Terrible business model, terrible bank processing procedures.

The location is hard to to get in and out of because of space. Vey little space for customers to park. Staff was great and friendly. Computer was giving the check in staff provlem that slowed down check in.

I called to get a refund on an extra day's charge, and got put on hold without being told. I don't know if it transferred me to a call center, but it took 17 minutes to process a refund. I got the refund i needed. Uhaul has no competition so customer service isn't impeccable, but i had a just fine experience with the rental.

I liked how easy it was to register the vehicle, the time and pick up and set up payment on the website on my phone. When I showed up I just had had to show my ID and get the keys. And when I brought it back I just had to return the keys. Simple, efficient, which really helped with all of the hassle from the moving I had to endure on my end. Thanks so much for this experience!

I was charged a much higher price than I was quoted, the original truck I had rented was given away and I was charged an additional fee for mileage that we did not accumulate. I have spoken with three different people within U-Haul and no one has been able to help clear this up. I have lodged two complaints and still no resolution. It’s been two weeks since the original reservation and this continues to be unresolved. The Roanoke, VA location on Williamson is horrible.

While I had reserved online I had to wait about 30 minutes or more because only one person was handling everything (checking in, checking out, assisting, selling extras, attaching hitches, etc) the whole process was slow but the employee was very polite and personable. Another person helping to handle the load at least on the weekend might be very helpful. After returning my rental van, I could not find my phone even after repeated rechecking of my clothing and the van itself. it could not be found. I had to get my wife to come with an extra key. The next day however we were contacted by employee who found the phone in the door and i was very happy with that help. I believe it was Cecil at that location on Williamson rd in Roanoke.
