Customer service was the worst experience I have had in a very long time. The customer service representatives have no type of training, very unprofessional and rude. Saying yes sir and yes Ma'am doesn't mean you are being professional. 1. I was told on the phone by a uhaul representative before going to this location, I can use any card as long as it had a visa, MC, AE etc logo. Once there, the representatives told me I couldn't use my bank card because it said debit. (Communication issue) 2. I extended my rental over the phone for another day with a rep from the store. The next morning, I get a call saying they (another representative) didn't know why I didn't turn in my truck yet. During this conversation I extended it for another day, she said ok I'm going to note the account. 3. I get a call that I missed, but a extremely rude representative left a voicemail on my phone which I felt was very unprofessional. If this is how I'm going to be treated when I rent from Uhaul I will not be visiting this location or any locations. Anyone I know will know about this as well.Allen B.
The proper entrance is difficult to get into, having to make a left turn across two lanes of a fairly busy road. This was after I pulled into the wrong entrance and was told by one of the employees that I need to go around to the other side. Instructions are to pull into the designated vehicle return spot and wait in the vehicle (during business hours). I sat there for nearly 15 minutes without anybody coming to help me with the return. I walked into the store and one of the ladies (neither seemed busy) there walked back with me to finally complete the return, which was uneventful.Ronnie W.

Truck was too small for my needs. When I called I told representative I was moving a king mattress, refrigerator (standard width and height) and other items. They said 10' truck is what i needed. Refrigerator could not fit in truck upright and had to be laid down - mattress would not fit in truck at all (too wide and too tall). They also recommended a subcontractor to load and unload truck - they were 2 hours late! Neither of these issues were the location's fault but the fault of the reservationist that took my call.JESSICA K.

This truck had a check engine? light on when I rented it and the oil light came on after 50 miles. I added two quarts of oil to bring it up to the lower mark on the dip stick. The truck ran horribly and only got 6.6 mpg. It wasn't a good experience. Truck ID JH2806A is not satisfactory to be rented.JOEL B.

Keisha the manager or supervisor is not customer friendly at all. She doesn't greet the customers m, she doesn't say we will be with you shortly or nothing. She is not a customer people person. I don't understand why some customers they ask me to take photos of and others they don't. The reason for the photos per Keisha is the vehicles aren't being returned. I was not asked for a photo to be taken but the gentleman in line ahead of me this morning from Phenix City Al who rented was asked for his photo to be taken. Yes Keisha was there yesterday and she was helping Audrey with my rental and neither one of them asked me to have my photo taken.PAMELA C.

BEWARE!! If you use the on-line reservation service U-Haul may change your pick-up location without asking your permission. My reservation was for Auburn, AL but when I went to pick up the truck they told me it was in Columbus, GA. I had to take the 2 hours to drive there and back even though I really didn't have the time. Very annoying!!DAVID B.

When renting equipment the computer system was down or experiencing problems so my information had to be given three times. The person taking my information was using a cell phone to scan or take a picture of my license, even though this might have been procedure I don't know if it was a personal phone or business phone. It was a long wait due to having one cashier, whom was also handling washing of the vehicles upon our arrival in which we had to wait for her to finish. The first month I had the storage unit the sliding door to enter were broken so if I didn't go during office hours when someone could let me in the side door I wasn't able to get in. This was very inconvenient and a bit of a hassle. After a month they finally got it fix. Probably because they were tired of having to let me in weekly. The young woman was ALONE...a crowded store and frustrated people. Too many men for 1 woman and cash registers...keys and equipment. She was totally overwhelmed and still managed to be polite and service everyone. Don't do that agaon to her. She should be making 20.00 an hour if she has to do all of that. I'd quit. Was originally scheduled to have a truck from The Uhaul Airport Throughway Location. Waited over 2 hrs for the representative to find another truck that he admitted that he gave away to someone else. I called customer service and they found me a truck and updated my reservation. I went to 10th street to pick it up. 10th street was better, but the lines were very long and there was only 1 person working the desk and 1 outside with the trucks. They need more help. I waited 45mins and I was 4th in line. The lady at the desk was very helpful to everyone and I think if she had help, my experience would have been excellent.Natasha H.

The night before we found out we were going to have to drive to a farther location to pick up our truck! Then when we got there we had no appliance dolly or furniture pads which were both on our reservation. So we had to drive all the way back to the Columbus location to get these things, all on our dime when it was not our faults these things were missing! We put in a reservation 5 days ahead so plenty of time to make sure we would have all things we reserved!!!!! The vehicle I ordered was not returned in time in order for me to pick it up so I was transferred to another location. I was suppose to be at the location on Airport Thruway in Columbus but got sent to the 10th Avenue location which added 20 miles to my trip which I had to pay an extra $10. They did give me a break of $.20 per mile but I think that it was no fault of mine that I had to incur this extra charge. Also, it might be wiser to have more than one customer service rep working on the weekend. She did the best she could but the wait of 20 minutes to handle another customer was not helpful to me nor those who were assisting me in my move.Kevin E.

I would recommend this location only because they seem to always have several trucks on site. It is in a difficult location to get into, with limited customer parking that is difficult to get to. I reserved a furniture dolly a month before my move, and they did not have one when I arrived to pick up the truck. The clerk acted like he did not even want to be there.PATRICIA D.

I rented the unit but could not get access to it because the keycard reader was broken. I was told to come back later and ask office staff to let me into the card-gated hallway to access the unit. I was not told the unit number. Office staff were obviously overworked and too busy for pleasantries. These issues are not the fault of the staff, but the fault of Uhaul. Uhaul needs to provide their staff with adequate resources to do their jobs effectively. Based on this experience I will not use Uhaul for future needs, as their pricing does not reflect their ability to deliver on a consistent and reliable product.Justin g. | First Impressions
When booking the space online from out of state, I selected the size I need and a unit that was described as “drive up exterior”. When we arrived, that is not what we got. Instead we had a unit that was inside a storage building, at the end of a long & narrow hall, with a pole in the middle of the unit. We refused the unit for these reasons. The associate took us back inside and offered us a larger unit, which we accepted. Although the unit was still inside, the hall was wider and the unit was closer to the entrance. When finishing up the rental agreement at the counter, I was asked if I needed to buy a lock; I said no, I had one. It was not pointed out that a specific type of lock was required. A couple weeks later when we return to get a few things out of storage, there’s a second lock on our unit with a tag for non-payment. We go to the office because a payment hasn’t even been due yet. We were advised that it was because we weren’t using the right type of lock, and that housekeeping would continue to put the additional lock on, and we would have to come during office hours to have them unlock it. We weren’t happy about this, but said fine. The next time we came, the additional lock is on there and we are now informed that a charge for the lock has been added to our account. I will take ownership that the agreement requires this type of lock, so I paid the fee for the lock without complaint. However, the handling of this is very poor. Rather than lock a paying customer out of their unit, you should at LEAST call to inform them at the first notice. Also, this should truly be explained up front, as I would not have known the difference in lock styles in just reading the agreement. To wrap it all up, we cleared out our unit on 06/13/20, and followed the online instructions for move out on 06/14/20. The move out was not processed until 06/30/20, when I called because I received notice that payment would be due soon. Overall, we only had the unit for 3 months and it was a bad experience from start to finish with customer service. The unit was clean, secure, and well-lit, but the parking and access to the lot is also not ideal; many times we were stuck waiting for others to move a truck or trailer they were renting/dropping off and causing congestion in the lot.Jennifer H. | Overall Experience
