Overall experience was excellent great customer experience. Was a little disappointed that the trailer i rented after all the hook up was done i noticed a flat and a screw in the tire. Thought all the equipment should have been inspected before the hook up. Eric ended up taking care of me after the second trailer had a malfunction. I rented a cargo van at the 6544 Bell Ave store in Glendale, AZ. When I returned the van I parked it in the same parking spot where it was parked when I picked it up. I walked into the store and went to the counter to process the returned vehicle. The guy behind the counter asked me where I parked the van and I told him it was in the same spot that it was when I picked it up. He told me that I had to drive it around to the other side of the store to return it. I think that should be the employees job, not mine. I was tired from the work that I had done with the rented van. My personal car was parked next to the spot where I had initially picked up the van. So I had to walk back to the van and drive it around to the other side of the store and wait for someone else to check out the returned vehicle. I think a U-Haul employee should have processed the return while I waited inside of the store like a customer instead of being treated like an unpaid employee while a paid employee sat behind the desk doing nothing.BILL S.
When I called to ask for availability, the employee who answered said they had nothing available at all and left it at that. I hopped on uhaul.com and saw that there was several trucks available and I actually reserved one right away. Whoever answered that call doesn't value the company that gives him his checks.babylon M.
Customer service by manager could've been better. I was there trying to get a u-box for an emergency move and all he would do was state that he needs 24 hour notice, even if I tow one myself. He waited to finish his hamburger before checking inventory to see if two were available. Ended up getting truck delivery for 2 days later, but a little bit of customer service would be nice. He also had another employee who was obviously distressed because the employee was complaining of having a migraine. He was wincing, keeping his eyes almost closed, face was bright red, and this employee told another customer that he was suffering from a migraine. The manager spoke up very loudly and said â€œand he thinks that I'm going to take it easy on him todayâ€ Have some compassion. Obviously you have a great employee who didn't call out sick because he was suffering from a migraine. You could at least be nice to him when he isn't feeling well. This manager needs some training in compassion and customer service. Definitely not somebody I would expect leading a team, nor a company.Arnold C.
Speed up the renting process. The store opens with one person and 6 renters outside the door. We have projects to get started. Open with a staff that can handle the waiting customers. Regardless of the day or time, it takes me 30 minutes minimum to get the truck that I have rented and checked in for pickup. I don't like the online pickup. It rarely works causing me to have to go in and get in line anyway.Robert C.

I was contacted the day before my move that I could not use the truck for a one-way move as originally booked and that I had to bring the truck back to Glendale. It did not leave me with any time to make a new reservation. The drive to return the truck was over an hour and an extreme inconvenience as I was not home to have the gas company turn my gas line on. I appreciated the discount that was given, but if I booked for a one-way, then I should get a one-way.Matthew V.

The ramp got stuck when loading. I couldn't get the ramp to move from the fully extended position when I needed slightly move the truck- I was a little too close to the house for a good cart run. This doubled or tripled my loading time. When I finally finished loading, I had to call a neighbor to help un-stick the ramp. We tried together-still stuck. I was on the phone with store looking for advice when the neighbor smacked the ramp with a hammer so it would move. Frustrating. No hard feelings-everybody at this store is great. I’m older and needed a ground floor unit, climate controlled! The guy helping me found me one but the manager wouldn’t approve it. He would only offer me a not climate controlled unit, which was not an option. I had to cancel the whole move in! Found a unit that met my needs for less money with another vendor! Uhaul system/agents need to be on the same level. Policy told to customers by agents should be upheld! I was charged for 2 days when agent told me I had until the following morning. I returned the truck the same night rather than keeping it until the morning. After completing on line return, I was charged for 2 days, 2 dollys, and twice for the insurance. I used uhaul earlier this month and kept the truck overnight and was not charged twice. Disappointed with the automatic billing and lack of follow up or refund.JUAN V.

A couple different things happened here: First, I received a single notification that my reservation was changed to a different location less than 12 hours before my scheduled pick-up time. As you'd imagine from someone in the middle of a move, I missed this. A call would have been nice; something more blatant would have been appropriate. Instead I got one easily missed email with a generic subject line when you unilaterally changed my reservation (something, mind you, that is your fault; you either shouldn't have booked the reservation in the first place or kept to it. Second, the location in question cheated me out of something like $10-20 worth of gas by giving me a car with a "full" gas tank and telling me I'd have penalties if it wasn't returned similarly full. After driving the car approximately 20 miles, I went to fill it up and found it took 7 gallons to do so. Full in this case meant "We are saying it's full, but what we mean is that we expect you to subsidize our business with gas you didn't use. In my last few moves, I've used competitors of yours because of similar experiences in the past; you aren't reliable nor are you honest. In addition, you are the most expensive of the bunch. In the future I will avoid you again - the premium price not only does not give me premium service, but fails even to make you keep your commitments or avoid cheating me.BENJAMINE D.

All are good with the exception of steps going to the storage itself. A ramp would've help alot in this situation. 1hr load took 3hrs for 1person. I have used U-Haul for several moves in the past. Some local and some cross country. The experience has always been seamless, but this time was a different story. I was in need of a 26' truck to be used for a time period of 3 days. The reservation went through online with no issue. I then called the location a couple days later to confirm that they would have a 26' truck for the time period I requested since I was seeing messages on the website stating that it might not be available. The person I spoke to confirmed the reservation. This was on September 6th. On September 29th, I went to U-Haul and my reservation had been changed to a 20' truck. I told the person at the counter that I had reserved and twice confirmed a 26' truck. From the other side of the counter, what I can only assume was the manager chimed in saying "We don't rent 26' trucks for more than 24 hours". I asked why the website confirmed it and why when I called, it was confirmed again. I even had the email to show that I was not being given what I had ordered. The "manager" was quick to say that he had changed the reservation himself with what I perceived as a snide attitude. I turned it around on him and asked why as the manager he didn't give any sort of notification with nearly a month of lead time. I didn't receive any email, text, or phone call letting me know my reservation had been changed. He had no response. He offered no apology or any kind of rationale for his actions. The moving process that I had was already incredibly stressful and one of the worst I've had in many years, but the callous way the person running this store attended to the situation was the cherry on top that sundae. My experience with U-haul sure left a sour taste in my mouth. U-Haul has been in business long enough to think of all the little things. They need to remember the guy with the credit card and pick up the phone when something changes.NATHAN W.

To begin with, my reservation was for 35th and Bell rd. When I arrived there was no truck for me. I was rerouted to 67th and Bell Rd. When I arrived there, there was ONLY 1 customer service guy at the desk and 3 people ahead of me. He was however, calm and collected as we were all feeling impatient. Not only that, but he was ansering phones which made it even longer. It was a terrible experience. Then I got outside and the truck was not where the customer service guy said it would be. I had to wait for it to be found and brought to the front. Unfortunately, I had my children and movers waiting for me and it ended up costing me more since there was a "waiting fee" applied. The location at 35th and Bell R. (stereo store) did not offer me the $50 Uhal money that they were supposed to for NOT having my reserved truck there. I would like to receive it please. I reserved my unit online but was asking me to upload my home owners insurance since I was doing this from my phone I decided to walk in.. the guy who help me wanted rude but kept telling me I was second on the reservation list. I have had the storage unit for about 3 years. I did not just move in. i have had automatic payments set up for several years. My last payment was not automatically taken out, so I received a late notice with a late payment fee added. I called and the late payment fee was taken off but this should not have happened at all. The reason for below average rating is that no one at the facility showed us how to access facility after hours. No one let us know that there are two entrances. Main one in the front of building and the after hours access in back of the building. Showed up to move daughter's college dorm items at 8:00pm and could not access building. Had to call u-haul customer service who had to track down after hours manager who then explained how to access building afterhours. After wasting over an hour, we then had to actually run to load everything into unit before 10pm after access hours stopped. Spoke to another custmer there at the same time and they explained same thing happened to them as well. Except for this issue, I would have provided a 5 star rating.
