Uhaul screwed up my original order and made changes, they tried compensating me but upon pick up the location had no notes or recollection of this compensation and I was charged even more than it should have been. The trailer lights were broken due to a bad wire at the harness to trailer connector (NOT at the vehicle to harness connection). Had to stop six times to wiggle the wire which was a waste of my time. The contact centre support needs drastic improvement. the after hour return was not working properly on the app, I waited 57 mins before quitting the call and leave the equipment at the location. - The staff wasn't as friendly as I expected them to be. - The gas tank wasn't quite 1/3 full to begin with when they said it would be. Yet I was expected to fill 1/3 when I return the truck. - It was really hard to locate the truck when they gave me the key. The staff needs to give the customers a better direction or have the truck ready nearby the office near the pickup time. The after hours online return did not work for me. I got to the second screen and I would not be able to hit the continue button. The one 800 number had a 30 minute wait so I could not even call and ask what I should do. This made me take the trailer home for the night as I did not want to leave it at the lot without checking out. Please fix that system.Mark S.

I really dislike the customer parking which is across Fairway Rd at a public stripmall. It is very dangerous crossing the 5 lanes. The driveway into uhaul is also always so congested making it challenging to get in and out.JEFFREY D.
This rating is not specific to 555 fairway road drop off location. This rating is a reflection of uhaul's bookings and reservation department. I made a reservation for a 15' cube truck that I was counting on. One day before my pick up I was informed my truck was not at this location let alone a 300+km radius. They had a 26' for me for One day later than I had planned. This seriously affected my moving plans as well as my budget for gas etc. Refueling the 26' was far more costly. What could've been and should've been a smooth move, turned into an incredibly stressful and expensive move for me. I am extremely disappointed and can honestly say to anyone that they should plan an alternative for moving instead of using U-Haul.Brianna G.
Only very minor comments I will say are neutral not negative. I waited over 30 mins from when I walked in to when I was given my truck & trailer rental(2 attendants we're doing their job but a system error heals up another & I was skipped over to allow a return for an unknown reason). The trailer I rented wasn't hooked up prior to my arrival which further delayed but again not a negative just a comment as I was to pick up at 9am, arrived 10 mins early & didn't leave until after 9:20am. No customer parking (using a lot next door) made loading up my rental a bit more time consuming. My rental truck wasn't full so I filled it prior to my return & I know I spent $10 or more that I shouldn't have had to simply to avoid a fee that would've been $10? I have rented from Uhaul before (Waterloo location) without these issues which is why I mention them here. The truck & trailer were great, no issues with the equipment or staff.Robert R.

We were not able to pick up the van at the location where we booked it, so we had unexpected travel...and we had to pay for the mileage! The place was very busy, I will admit, but the some of the staff were unfriendly, and they were more than 45 minutes late getting me the vehicle....which cut into our moving time, since we still had to return the vehicle at the scheduled time. Also, despite having provided the license photos as required to book, they had none of that information on file when I went to pick up. We will not be back here again.Robert F.
My comments are about U-Haul in general, rather than a specific location. The booking system is definitely flawed. They notified me by email that they changed my booking, giving me something that would not suit my needs. No apology. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying to rectify the situation, getting a different story from each person they directed me to, never getting confirmation that I would be guaranteed ANY trailer at all. I was told there is no way for them to know what they will have available. Then why have a booking system at all, I wonder??? I was taken advantage of by the staff of this location. My confirmed reservation was changed on the day of booking. The vehicle had a faulty speedmeter. I was told "enough" miles are included in the new booking but had to pay extra when I returned the vehicle. I have been SCAMMED by UHaul.Nahid R.

While sturdy, the 5 x 8 covered trailers are very heavy and have no provisions for being more aerodynamic. This greatly reduced my vehicle mileage by 35-40%. If I had used a BEV, I would have hdd to make 2 extra stops to recharge. U-haul should be looking for ways to a) make their covered trailers lighter, b) add rounding on the fronts to make them more aerodynamic.Michael T.

I had a very bad experience with the customer service agent on the phone. I wanted to discuss the extra changes on my bill but the agent on the phone has diverted my attention to the POOREST CUSTOMER SERVICE Uhaul could provide. When I was at the location I was told on the counter that my estimate is good for 50 Miles and I have driven the truck within range(i.e. 45miles). But I see extra charges for 15 miles. Instead of having a mutual discussion the conversation seemed like one sided blame on me that I have not heard it right while receiving the truck. Was the agent there with me while I was renting the truck? Is it how Uhaul treats their customers? It seems that the agents are trained not to listen to their customers and just favor their employees and assume they could never be wrong. First of all the staff person who processed my reservation was was extremely pleasant and professional. However, the process took way too long. The staff member was alone in the office and the line up was huge. In addition, she had to stop to answer the phone. I need to purchase a few things and I had planned on buying boxes. I did not make this purchase as the small moving kit $49.99 had a line drawn through the price, like it was marked down. That was not the case it now cost $59.99. There was no attempt to put on a cute sticker or make a sign. I went to pick up my rental truck and be on my way. This truck had not been cleaned period and definitely not high touch items, like steering wheel or gear shift. Also, the back of the truck was dirty and not even swept. I received a text to confirm the state of the truck I decided to take pictures instead in case I was blamed for the marks. I was also wondering what would happen if I left the truck in the state I received it? Would I be charged extra as I was already worried That I was swept the attic and floor plus I washed them all down with a disenfectant. The most upsetting thing again was the charge for the fifth day. Yes my check out time was /12:38 and I arrived back at 1:10. The line up again was very long, the 1:19 time was when a staff member got to me. I know I kept the truck an extra day and as I explained to the staff person I had gone to the hospital for a test in morning and I was kept there all day. By the time I returned from Oakville it was too late to call. I feel being charged the full daily rate for 32 minutes is unacceptable. I paid the rental for the truck and the dolly rental for 5 days instead of 4 days. Yes I am accountable for 4 full days. The truck was returned cleaner than when I got it plus it had extra gas in it. If things are going to be so strict with these rules. Perhaps you need to credit me for extra gas. When the staff person who was waiting on me checked in with the other person about me being charged the fifth day. She snapped I told her on the phone she would be charged another day if I was not back at 1230 because the truck was rented. Wow I don't quite remember the conversation that way but I was not about to stand there in a room full of people to have this person speak to me in a disrespectful manner. I left and I asked the person checking in the truck what was the escalation process for me to follow up with the 5 th day charge. Wow so Uhaul has been paid for a truck and dolly until tomorrow at 12:38 plus the truck was already rented. I'm really sorry that I ended up at the hospital and I am only disputing being charged the full day rentals for 41 minutes. I guess I leave it dirty like other people. And yes I want to ce contacted. Two days before my move, I received a call from the â€˜senior person' at this location telling me I could no longer do a one way booking. He said the policy changed and I needed to pick up and drop off in kw. This was outrageous as I was moving 2 hours away and had this booked for months. He argued with me and was very rude and not compassionate at all. I hung up, called head office - and head office said he just be confused - so they called him to rectify. When I booked I asked for the largest unit available. When I arrived from Windsor I was told that it wasnt available and had to go with the one below. I brought a 3 bedroom and a basement home with me and had to stack my things very high to make it fit into the unit I was given. We made it work but things got squished in the process. You need to update your site to say that bigger trucks are not available online. And that you need three references to call when picking up at 7am. It was great waking everyone up. Also you had no trucks in three cities surrounding me so I had to get one an hour away and pay the mileage. The staff wasn’t on the same page at all. I moved to London on September 4th and I went in to move all of my stuff out and to cancel and someone told me it was fine and I should just wait until the end of the month and to call them to cancel so I left to London and then on called on September 30th to cancel October 1 payment and someone told me that it was all good and my automatic payments were removed. I then got a voicemail from someone else saying that won’t work because the lock was on still, I called them back and a new person answered and explained it to me and I told them I was coming home on the weekend and I could do it then and they said we will still have to charge you for the unit and I had to take it off that day or I’ll have to pay. My access card never worked, my payments were automatic. My credit card was charged for a rental that wasn't mine and it took me two calls and two visits to get my money back. Then when the lock they made me buy from them brock and they wanted to pay 50 dollars cash for their lock smith. The service is actually very good and met my needs. The staff was great and helpful. I put in a low rating because I saw NO Covid safety precautions in the facility other than the in the main office. The elevator is horrible! The necessity of having to swipe the card to have it work and continually press a button (finger remains on a button) to have it move is inconvenient and bad during a pandemic. My friend stored her items at a place on Pinebush in Cambridge that had regular elevators. The system you have where you need to touch 2 doors on an elevator several times and then open and close a door to go upstairs has many communal touchpoints. I saw the facility being regularly cleaned every time I was there. However, I never saw anyone wiping the elevator button, the elevator pull-down door latches and outside elevator doors, and the door handle to the stairs or the carts. There was no evidence that anyone made any effort to clean the carts either. It's really risky and dangerous. I brought my own Lysol wipes and cleaned things as I used them myself. Not everyone is going to clean things as they use them. It would be helpful to have wipes set up at the elevator and carts like they do at grocery stores, hotels and gas stations. I mean really, it's not just for your customers, it's for your own staff to have some safety measures be in place. I'm a teacher and the custodial staff there wiped all touchpoints regularly and there were still outbreaks. I hate to think about the risk at your facility. It's actually shocking that I saw nothing but the same lady cleaning the grounds (she was friendly and did a really good job). I saw nobody cleaning high touchpoints. I know because I took several trips a day and the cart I left in the drop off point was at the exact same angle I left it many hours later. Very unfortunate for your staff and customers who do not clean touchpoints for themselves. I cleaned myself, otherwise, I never would have continued with the service so I am ok with the service I had. I worry for others who while rushing to store things do not take precautions. Even with vaccines rolling out, there is still going to be risk for months and maybe years to come. UHaul has to invent in taking more precations for customers and also their own staff. My rating would have been better if not for the pandemic. However, we are in a pandemic and will be for some time. Change needs to happen here. My overall experience with the staff and the facility was good. The staff were very helpful and accommodating in resolving my issues with the storage unit I rented. However the unit I had rented, I am not pleased with. The framing and the drywall are coming apart. With minimum effort, I would be able to enter the adjacent storage unit. The door to the unit I had rented was difficult to open and close. I had to exert a high level of effort just to get into the unit and to close the the unit. I used the storage locker for short-term storage of my late father's household goods until I could get the auction house to come pick them up. The check-in process was very slow due to computer issues, but the person who checked me in provided the contract and lock to me for pick-up later in the day. The check-out process was very quick. This was the worst experience and an utter waste of time. The locker was supposed to be 5’x5’ and turned out to be significantly smaller at roughly 3.5’x4’. I immediately raised the issue with the staff only to be told the dimensions were only approximate. Cons- Need more camera surveillance throughout the compound, extended and 24hr access only for registered business owners/contractors. Either chosen access type should be available to ALL customers, at least extended access to all with contractors/business owners continuing to receive 24hr access but as a type of business ownership bonus for choosing to store with UHaul. The access issue is kind of a big deal to me as my wife and I started a family owned business venture specializing in Lawn care/Winter Maintenance. It's off to a rough start but our operating hrs are an 'On Call 24Hrs', 'You Make The Call and We'll Be There!'.. Unfortunately the business is unregistered with BBB...but policy is policy.
