We rented from U-Haul for approximately 10 months we went there at least once a month and every time we went there the elevator was broken. We would call and it took a long time to get someone down sometimes to fix it. It was a big inconvenience as far as trying to remove stuff from our unit because we had to carry everything by hand. Everything was great -- with one exception. The gas gauge on the van we rented did not function properly: it under-registered the amount of gas we put in the tank before returning the van -- until the van was actually on the road again, being driven. Then the gauge showed the tank was completely full, whereas back at the pump, when we turned the motor back on, the gauge showed only Â½ a tank. As a result, we ended up putting 14 gallons in the van when we should have put 5 or 6 at the most -- our trip had only been 89 miles (on the highway!). We cannot help but suspect that UHaul has programmed its gas gauges to malfunction this way, although of course we have no proof. UHaul got a good 8 or 9 gallons of free fuel from us. The UHaul employee who handled our rental was great and we do not want this complaint to reflect poorly on him. We realize he was not empowered to do anything aobu it.LILLIAN W.

Was told I would get a $50.00 credit because the rental reserved was not available when I arrived for pick up and I went with a smaller rental size. At drop off I stated this as well, the employee stated it would go on my card within minutes of the charge itself. This did not happen. I had to call and then was told it was not put in the system and I would have to wait for customer service to call and then they would have to do this. This could have been avoided by simply checking in the truck at the time of drop off and seeing that the credit was not in the system, BEFORE a charge was applied to the credit card. I put fuel in the truck less then a quarter mile down the street to bring the truck back to the fuel level on the gauge they still charged me 17$ for four gallons of fuel which was completely wrong there was just over a half a tank of fuel when I picked the truck up I dropped it off with just over a half there's absolutely no way I should be charged for thatASHLEY B.

A confirmed registration done in Sept. with Pleasant St for a 20 ft was reconfirmed abbot a week or two before Nov. 6th. Late Nov. 5th learned someone had altered to a 10:30am vs my 7:45am pick up and when we went there , there was no truck. Lewiston St U-haul had one and we finally got it around 11am! Lucky since it did not rain that day, our Lions event was not too much affected. Lewiston was very professional and supportive. Why does this happen??Scott L.

Has nothing to do with the location.I made a reservation for Friday in New Bedford I was not notified that my trailer did not get returned so when I arrive I was told I had to drive to fall river 20 min away to get me trailer so already on a tight schedule I had to make it to fall river before the closed and then to inconvenience me more on my return I had to drive the trailer to fall river again even though I made my appointment in New Bedford not very pleased with the customer survive was inconvenience in more then one way and was never compensated for it was supposed to receive $50 voucher haven't received yet I am very disappointed and will let people know about my inconvenience and will most definitely never use your services AGAIN!!!!!!!ZACHARY R.

The after hours service is a wonderful idea but, it has many glitches that need to be fixed. From the uploading of pictures, to be kicked out and have to start all over again, and having to use a more recent picture, even though I just took it 3 minutes before. It was extremely time consuming and infuriating, to say the least. Please work on this. My experience would have been 5 star worthy if it wasn't for that. The truck was beautiful, handled well and maintained perfectly. Definitely a wonderful service just needs some tweaking. Thank youDanielle C.

I attempted 3 times to complete the online move in but I got an error all 3 times. Then, when I tried to do the process through the store itself I couldn't get hold of anyone. I was transferred to a representative somewhere that was very nice but couldn't help. Uhaul as a whole they are a bit above average but where I went to rent a unit it was very poor, I have been there quite a few times with a friend of mine and seems that there is always an issue at that facility, my experience I was at the facility for the opening time at 7:00am due to the online check out wasn’t happening even tho I did it three times, I got there before 7 and the doors weren’t open and ready to take anyone until 7:30, no big deal things happen we’re all late every now and then, the person at the desk went to do my reservation and the final step she gave me my license and a written down number to uhaul and said idk why but I can’t make it past the end here’s the number to call, ok no problem, got in my car called the number mine u at this point it’s 8am, I was on hold for ten minutes, not to bad, the woman on the phone was nice and helpful, she resolved the issue with the computers that day quickly and sent me on my way, I make it to the unit, opened it, and realized I had made a huge mistake and ordered a unit way to small for my stuff, now the unit was paid for the lock wasn’t even used but I realized that was my mess up and didn’t expect uhaul yo accommodate me for my mistake but seeing how I really needed something at that moment and something larger I took the chance of asking the person at the front desk if for any chance I would be able to hand in those keys and pay the difference for the next size up, she couldn’t do the transaction I was told it was above her pay grade and that her manager would be there later on in the day but told me if it was something I needed ASAP to call that number she had given me once again, I sat outside called the number was on hold for 30 minutes for the rep to tell me that there is absolutely nothing she could do that the only thing she would be able to do was put a reservation on the upgraded unit but still have my original unit active so pretty much sat outside of uhaul for 30 minutes for some one to tell me pretty much that’s I wasted my time calling, I left at this point already frustrated over 2 hours of my day was gone but bit the bullet because again my fault. Early after noon I called the location to see if the manager was there I was placed on hold for 20 minutes until I couldn’t take it anymore and hung up, called them back and the person that put me on hold had redirected me to the uhaul 1800number once again lol finally after holding again for a while I told the person on the line what was happening (at this time I didn’t know I was redirected) and the lady tells me that she can’t cancel it must be don’t at that location and if I wanted she could transfer the call there that’s when I questioned why it wasn’t a direct call earlier, she transferred the call and what do you know on hold once again. Couple hours went by after I hung up during the hold out of frustration and this time I took a different approach and did the live chat on the website, I believe the contacts name was amber and she was extremely quick extremely helpful, very professional told me she would email the GM, send me a copy of the conversation and send me the gm email just in case. Not very long after that call the GM had reached out to me and was very proper and professional, didn’t ask me what happened who messed up didn’t ask for details which I respected because even tho I had a aweful experience I wouldn’t want someone to lose their job because of it so I liked that and he gave issued a refund, still waiting on the refund but that’s to be expectedDerick F. | Online Move In

There were several things wrong with my experience this time around- I had reserved online several days in advance. I requested to pick up my truck in Swansea and drop it off in Fall River, but this somehow got swapped. The email confirmation said pick up in Swansea, but when I called to let them know I was running a little late I was told my truck was never supposed to be there in the first place and I had to pick it up in Fall River. When I got to fall river I told them specifically that I would need the truck until 8pm the next day, and they said that all I had to do was request an extension online. Early the next morning I tried to request an extension and the website told me it was not available and I needed to return the truck by 4pm and extensions were unavailable. I paid for several pieces of equiptment that were never put in the truck, and I was assured that I would get a refund when I returned the truck. I had to call the next day to request my refund because despite the truck being returned empty, my receipt said all the equiptment I was supposed to get were returned and no refund was issued. I've been moving everything I own completely by myself, and this just made the entire experience significantly more stressful for no good reason. The only person I spoke to at any point who was even remotely helpful or understanding was Antonio. Everything else about this was a nightmare.VICTORIA J.

All of the employees were very kind when I originally rented the unit. When I returned to pay off my balance and terminate my rental agreement I had to stand out in the rain for over 20 minutes because even though the office was supposed to be open the doors were locked. There was a sign on the door that said: "Out in Storage, Be Back Soon". I called the contact number that comes up when you google that location but that routed me to a call center who then had to "send a message" to the office I was outside of to tell them someone was waiting. Nick was the greatest. I needed a unit on short notice and he came through for me and got me the size I was looking for. The other guy working the counter is also great (so sorry I can’t remember your name). Whenever I ordered boxes he’d carry them to the car for me. He was so nice for doing that. Me and my family we’re moving to a new home after 16years at our current home and to say moving is stressful is an understatement. But working with UHaul for our storage unit and truck took away a big part of our stress. We had to be out of our home and into the new one in such a short time period. Elevator barely ever worked. Which for somebody with a hip replacement I had to move furniture out of the facility down 2 flight to stairs. My card barely ever worked sometimes to get into the building. More than anything though it was the elevator that was always inoperable. For the amount of money that I spent there it's completely unacceptable. I at times would call to make sure that the elevator was working but on the day that I had to move everything out it was not working as with a lot of other times I went by there. IMain outside access gate broken numerous times. Issue with accessing outside door numerous times. Pass card wouldn't open the door. On last day there was a back up of 3 members trying to access. Unsafe area with people congregating outside there units. Called office for information and person in office started swearing and yelling about having to eat and this f...king job sucks he wasn't f....ing going to keep doing this and he was f......ing going to quit. I was shocked and person that had answered the phone was trying to calm the other down and kind of apologized but not too sincerely. That was enough for me. When checking out 9 days before my monthly end date I expected a partial refund. When asked the clerk told me he didn't think so because it was close. I had 9 more days that I had paid for. My billing was on the 10th of the month and I left the 1st.. I said then I'll take my unit back if I have to pay until the 10th. He told me that would be a $50 charge to do that. I was extremely angry and as I was leaving I did say very loudly that UHAUL was the worst and I'd tell people that. I think this place was undergoing management/ help change. Just saying I feel they should be wearing a mask at all times when customers enter the office. Plus they can spread it to the merchandise that the customers touch.
