When initially renting, everyone was extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The place is very clean, bug free and well maintained. Issues were fixed in a timely matter. My only complaint is the price. Every six months come rain or shine, the price rose higher. If you weren't so expensive, I'd still be renting there.

JAMES CThe gas tank was not at 7/8 when I received the van. It was lower. I took a photo and reported this to the return person. That person said he would fix that for the next person. But my receipt still shows the 7/8 mark.

Diosdado SThe process I have to go through to return the truck is a huge pain. The website shuts down halfway through the process and I have to return to the beginning and do it again. I understand cleaning the vehicle is my responsibility, but I don't work for U-Haul and I shouldn't have to do your employees' jobs by submitting a bunch of photos through a finicky system that does not work smoothly. That's what I pay you for. Your customer service has declined over the years and it's continuing to do so.
Matthew BI originally tried to rent this trailer from a U-Haul dealer in Land O Lakes Florida. The day before scheduled pick up U-Haul changed the location to Brandon Florida. I contacted U-Haul and asked for a closer pick up location. They sent me to Gandy Boulevard in South Tampa that location was even further from the Brandon location.
Richard UPicked up the trailer and the DA that hooked it up didn't hook it up correctly. The trailer came of my hitch in the middle of the road and messed up my bumper. Almost caused a HUGE wreck in the process.
ROBERT CI was assisted by Khai. She was “customer service “ oriented. She was patient as I was looking an appropriate locker. She was definitely above average in her attitude and in her desire to provide a positive experience for the customer. She is to be commended in making a locker rental a positive experience at U-Haul. ( I do not know Khai, nor was I paid for providing these comments 😉. But I do believe good service should be recognized)

RUSSELL SWOW This location is amazing for all my moving needs and more. Customer service representative named Judith Brown handled my rental and she was very nice and kind from the beginning to the end. Self return process went smooth and was very convenient but may need fixing with the app when scanning for the location barcode for return but the website to scan it went through fine. Give this location and the staff a pat on the back because they deserve it. 😊😁

Renting some electric might be nice so one can have light and a fan inside their storage unit. Maybe have a dumpster somewhere around the drive in garages for trash that may accumulate while moving in or out. Otherwise, the storage facility on Gandy, in Tampa , Fl is immaculate. Very well kept and free of debris.

Communication was not good and she appeared to be in no hurry to accomplish the task at hand. Location is great for me but only out of necessity would I return there.
WALLACE WI was told by the check in staff I would not be charged extra for returning the truck after 5pm on Sunday because the location would be closed and I could just drop the key off which I did. I was charged extra, so this is very disappointing on behalf of the location staff member telling not to worry about dropping the truck off 1 hour late.

SHAUNA RCheaper rates and more flexibility with mileage. I put almost a half a tank of gas to accommodate the 2 or 3 miles over costing me $32 in fuel and then you guys charged me an additional $22 for being a few miles over knowing my routes to get to and from location sites and nowhere else. So not sure how that miscalculation happened, but not happy. Was given a discount for my drop off location only to have it basically revoked by being overcharged after putting more fuel in than when I picked it up.

KELLY FTruck warning system was active indicating low tire pressure. Pressure was fine, but sensor needed work, lot attendant says it has been that way for a while. Truck driver side turn signal assembly falls out of socket and bangs against the truck while driving. AC controls were not functioning as intended. Driver's seat adjustment not operating as intended - had to have lot attendant move the seat. All of this was after I had a "confirmed" reservation at another U-haul lot but was sent away because they did not have my truck. Lot attendant was helpful and courteous.

Kurt KMy only issue was that I could not adjust the side mirrors… There was no inside the cab adjustments and physically trying to move them was virtually impossible. Even the customer service rep said that they were stuck. I was very concerned because it made looking for blind spots and for vehicles adjacent very difficult.

Ishantola EI would have stayed at U-Haul in Tampa had they not kept raising the rent. The unit I rented was due to a drainage pipe that went inside the unit. U-Haul removed the discount and started charging full price. I work for the DOD and travel a great bit and have used other storage facilities in other states for periods as long as 10 years. I found a private owned storage facility at a cheaper rate and move my stuff there. Point being trying to screw a veteran and DOD employee cost your company monies over the long haul. Most that feel the same way won’t take the time to send this email. Thx you!

VENETIA FThe steering wheel was a bit off center, yet for a truck with 133000 miles, that makes sense. The 10 foot trucks have a backup camera, would be nice on the 15 foot model. The staff is great, very professional.
JAKE WI returned the truck after hours and put my keys in the dropbox. They did not check the truck in the next morning, or even the next day. I received several messages about unreturned equipment, one even threatening legal action. I tried calling, no one ever answered, and every call was routed back to the main U-Haul call center, where a useless call center employee would then re-route me back to the 3939 W Gandy location, again no one would answer and I would be routed back to the U-Haul call center. This happened 5 times before encountering a helpful gentleman at the U-Haul call center who initiated a dispute for me. Avoid returning here after hours unless you want your time wasted.

I called CS and was told there was nothing that can be done until they open in the morning. Had to extend the rental until the next day to be able to get inside the unit. On Friday July 5th I went in to clear out my unit and talk to the clerk at the desk to tell her we had lost the keys to the lock and wanted to know how we can get into the unit. She pointed to her pencil cup and said to call this number. My vision is not very good so i started to pick it up to see it more closely to read it when she grabbed it and said she would read it. She read the number and as i was entering it into my phone thinking it was the storage manager I had tried to contact, she informed me that it was a locksmith. She further informed me that it was the least expensive locksmith in the area. I was a bit miffed that she would not explain that i needed a locksmith, rather than giving me a phone number with no explanation. The next day Saturday the 6th, i had a locksmith i contacted, meet me at the unit who was 30 dollars less expensive who cut off the lock. We emptied the unit and I spoke with the storage manager who was just wonderful and helpful. When we closed out the unit the clerk was also friendly and helpful. It is terrible that you have one bad employee ruin the experience when everyone else is just terrific.

Within one year our storage unit rate increased twice. As a long time u-haul customer/ renter you should have a code for the restrooms to accommodate the people who are actually paying the bills for your u-haul establishment to exists.

We had movers hired, and the employee in charge did not open the locks on the double doors for over an hour because he was busy with truck rentals. There were two other people trying to also move. One woman waited for over a hour. It was ridiculous. The doors were right outside the desk where he was checking people in, yet he would not take the thirty second to unlock the doors. Very frustrating and rude. Overall, the facility is nice and it’s clean. But even when we went back after the units were cleared to have the contracts closed, it took a long time. Just a very inefficient front desk. Very very close and inefficient.

David b | First ImpressionsThe general manager held my unit hostage from my boyfriend stating that she wouldn’t give him any information on the unit until he paid the month in full of almost $200. The due date was one day before. She then refused to give him any information as he was not listed as a “user” of the unit. So it was okay to extort him for $200 but not give him a map to the unit’s location. I was very sick with 101 fever and had to appear to grant him access. The GM then said she would change my address for me as it was an out of state address when I first moved into the unit. She only changed the street number of my address. She didn’t change the street name, city, state or zip code. This has been my experience with the staff ever since I began renting the unit 2 years ago. I would NEVER recommend this place. The staff claims to be protecting the facility but in fact, they’re only interested in making money. If the manager had any conscience at all, she’d refund the whole month that she charged me for 24 hours of use. But I doubt she will as she has never been helpful or friendly.

From the first contact, everyone is welcoming, very friendly (even remembering our names) and extremely helpful in determining storage needs. Kimberly, who is the storage expert, is definitely a huge asset to UHaul on Gandy in South Tampa. She knows exactly how much storage is needed and went above and beyond in finding us storage to meet our needs and making sure it was available for our move to storage day. The facility, managed by Courtney, is very clean, the staff is very helpful and another huge plus is you pull your vehicle into the building and load and unload in air conditioned comfort! I highly recommend UHaul Storage on Gandy!

We were preparing to remove our items for our move and noticed there we water marks on our boxes. We noticed there was a leak and it was apparent that it had been leaking for a while. The boxes were dry and had some spots on them. The plastic totes had orange rusts spots and calcium build up. We took some of the totes down and there was a water puddle that spilled over us. We had notified the staff and they placed a tarp over the unit. We notified them May 27th and we returned June 1st and noticed there were puddles forming in the tarp. There were 4 puddle spots. We did file a claim. Other than the leak, everything else was great.

Rental at about 5:00 was horrible young black girl saying no we don’t have any ! I must have mention 5 time I’m going right there you can see the house from here! It was 6:41 and the young black guy said I’m closing this door( the wide ones, understand we just got the truck we were back quickly it was 6:41 PM. He told us we had to go to the other door. There’s no way to go to the other door with the heavy duty table. My daughter mention it’s 641 and you’re closing now he said yes for the third or fourth time I said, do you see we only have a few more items including the table, my daughter screamed because I picked up the table in a hurry and broke it. We took our time getting it in there patiently he hurried us, so bad upset us so bad, the table broke we have insurance and expecting either U-Haul or the insurance to pay for the table , we put the broken table in the storage unit. The storage unit door would not hold up itself. We had trouble in the beginning to slide the metal to open the door again we had trouble when we open the storage unit the metal piece had to slide the broken table is in the storage unit on top of that we noticed that it wasn’t a 24 hour rental having us clock out at before 11 pm aweful experience

I specifically set up my credit card for auto billing to avoid forgetting payments and incurring a late fee. They had a problem charging my card 2 months after I set it up and they charged me a $15 late fee. They did'nt even call, text or try to email me before charging me. They're relying on your late fees. They would'nt credit me. I terminated my account with 25 days remaining before the next billing and they would'nt pro-rate me a refund. They STOLE over $160 from me. The person dealing with was very smug and had the attitude of "Take it or leave it". Well I took it alright. I took my business to Life Storage. Same size unit for $50 less. Do yourself a favor stay as far away from U-haul as possible. They also raised they're rates twice this year without giving notice. Shady, Greedy and dispicable!

I was advised by another customer on how to access the building. The second issue was that the 3 doors that are used to drive in and load/unload have cars parked in front of the doors and the one door that was available was being used by one of the employees who parked inside and was actually sleeping in her car. Only two of the three doors were actually functional and again had vehicles parked in front of them and not inside where you would load/unload.

During my move, they did not provide the equipment I paid for when I picked up the truck, they “gave away” my storage units without informing me so when I arrived with my truck filled with my things there was no where to put them and “it is uhaul right to not guarantee anything you reserve”. I then had to drive two hours north to put half my things in a friends garage while the storage location cleaned out one storage unit for my valuables. That unit was filled for six weeks and when I went to gather my things to move into my house there had been a leak in the unit and it covered all my things with dirty water, damaging electronics and a mattress. They do not provide insurance for their units. This is all from one move. Uhaul is the worst company that exists and if you can find another moving company, even if it costs more it will save you in the long run.

The alarm came on like I was breaking and entering, but no police came, or anything else ? not quite sure what to think of my security if I could just stay there with high decibel alarms ringing... Besides that nice tour, friendly staff, oh and a lock key broke into a lock and I had to purchase two locks in less than 12 hours. Pretty cheap metal if you ask me. One, the slide-card access to the door on the east side (between the garage doors) never worked to open that door. This was a problem when the bays were occupied or when the garage doors were broken and didn't open. Two, the garage doors seemed to be out of service often, but not sign would be posted to indicate they were out of service. On one occasion, I saw a truck back into the door because it didn't open, which only further delayed its repair. Since the doors open automatically with a small amount of clearance when they are working, It would be a good idea to put a sign on a non-functioning door to avoid further collisions.

This person knows how to welcome customers and treat them right. Overall experience was very positive. The units are nicely priced and easily accessible. One piece to improve on is customer communication about what a split level means and that there are NO elevations to those units. We were originally assigned a split level and would have needed to carry heavy items up and down. Customers have no idea what location-specific issues are and without a good explanation may sign up for something that is not a good fit.

I stored these thing for over two years at 180.70 a month and I lost it all. Wasted my money for what?? Very disappointing

This was on a Sunday.. When I tried to make a claim with RepWest, U Haul's insurance carrier, they would not pay me because there were no photos of the damage. At the time of the damage, when I went to the clerk in the office, she didn't know what to do and suggested I wait and speak with the manager the following day--he didn't know what to do either. If you require insurance, you should do your job when there is a loss.

I have called 3 times and still have no response, I keep getting told the manager will call me. I rented the storage unit 2 weeks ago, I’m already having major issues since day 1. I called for the 3rd time today, the customer service representative laughed at me. I find that extremely unprofessional, I am not sure what they look for in the employees. During these uncertain times, with unemployment being so high I am sure there are better applicants to hire. Supposedly the calls are recorded so I would really hope they would review the call and make it a coaching opportunity. I am still waiting for the general manager Todd Rarick to contact me. I work in financial sales, and understand the value of great customer service which this company lacks. I would never recommend anyone to rent from this facility. This has truly been a disaster. I rather pay more money and rent somewhere else.
