Your application used to check-out prior to departing needs a bit of work. This is the second time I have used the app and it has failed each time (worthless and a colossal waste of my time). What I do is take pix of the equipment and save the photos till I check-out. The term I would use for your IT folks is "TEST" before deployment. Don't deploy a defective anything. Surprising it didn't work this past time either.
J KUnfortunately there was an issue with my drop off. I dropped off on 4/1/26 and was charged for three extra days. I tried calling to resolve the matter to be put on hold twice for over 20 minutes. Finally I just went in person where the issue was resolved. Would have been a much better experience if I was checked out on time by the staff as well as helped over the phone instead of having to drive back to the location to handle the billing issue.
Ryan MBad damaged wind shield wipers and person that strapped car to trailer was not done properly straps came off tires and car almost came off the trailer several times. Also one of the ramps was not properly put back into position and was grinding as we drove down the highway until someone told us to pullover. We ended up dropping off the trailer in Georgia and drove the car and truck. Then car broke down and we had to call and get another trailer which was a mess. Because the little town didn’t have a U-Haul dealer who had a one way trailer to Texas Overall my U-haul experience was very bad a sucked

SERENA W | First ImpressionsThe storage facility was definitely secure but not well lit. It needed a light switch so that I could see inside my storage unit. The store location is also on a very busy corner and needs more parking spaces. The staff was always alert, friendly and helpful.
DEANNA F | Overall ExperienceOh my gosh, I cannot say enough on how terrible this location was to work with. Everything from the cleanliness of the unit. Where the unit was located, it seemed to be the break area for the employees to either smoke cigarettes or smoke joints. Therefore, the smell went into the items that we had stored in the unit. The staff made countless billing errors and the amount of time spent to correct this both on the phone and in person was painful to say the least. I made a reservation three months in advance and when we arrived, they said they did not have the unit but they were happy to place us in a different one and charge us $60 more a month! Seriously that’s your solution. My daughter is in her junior year at the college of Charleston. I told her if she needs another unit for this coming summer, I would rather drive out of town to work with better staff then go back to this location again. I’m not one to write bad reviews like this, but you guys have to know how terrible this location has consistently been for the last two years that I have worked with them.

I have a discharge email stating that my discharge was complete. I follow all the steps and I took all the pictures and I sent the pictures in and I kept the email that I was sent for proof of my discharge.

The ceiling area in the storage facility needs some work as it appears to have had a lot of leaking issues for a long time. They do their best to clean it and deal with the leaks. One of the men that works with the trucks, coming and going , always made himself available to help me carry, lift, and place items in my vehicle. I never had to ask and he always made himself available. He was particularly polite, professional, helpful and kind.

I had to go to two different U-Haul facilities just to get a truck and a hitch for my car. But when I got to Charleston I met Mike. He works at the King Street U-Haul facility. He was very instrumental in making the rest of my move smooth. My daughter nickname him Magic Mike. People like Magic Mike Elijah and TJ are hard to come by.

Several others have no concept of the importance of the customer experience (they are "Debbie Downers") and the customer leaves feeling that they are not important to the company. These employees fail to understand that the money they are paid comes ONLY from the customer and that they work for the customer. They undermine the business and prevent it from standing out as a great place to do business with.

This is a busy office but I received excellent service as if I was the only customer present. I have been waiting for the opportunity to note the amazing service delivered by Latosha (excuse misspelling). After a 13 hour drive to King st and a 13 hour return home planned the next day, I hoped for anything to make unpacking the unit and packing the trailer easier. Latosha did everything to make it easier! I pulled out of the parking lot thrilled because we were in and out so much quicker (and easier )than anticipated. Thank you!

I got a U-Haul from another dealer and when I pulled up at King street with my first load to store, one of the young men noticed the trailer wasn’t hitched properly. He corrected the issue. I was checking out and running a little late and the staff stayed around an extra 30 minutes for me to finish. This team has excellent customer service.

Also, the recurring payment choice never worked, and each month I had to call and hope they would remove late fee.
Michael M | Overall ExperienceThis is the only place that I know of that charges twice as much than anyone else to store items in a flood plain, Of course there is no grace period for paying the rent, even if you can’t get to the storage area due to a flood. Just out of curiosity, if the storage area were flooded and stayed flooded for 6 months straight, would you still charge rent for those six months during which our items were under water? I will not be back and neither will anyone that I speak with.
Jesse Z | Overall ExperienceThere need to be trash cans more centrally located within the Uhaul storage area itself, the fact that we had to walk all the way around the entire building to get to the dumpster was extremely time consuming and ill-efficient. Clearly others feel the same way because there was constantly trash strewn through out the corridors. There is always a super long line in the customer service area and oftentimes associates who are unwilling and uninterested in helping whatsoever. On several occasions we had issues with Carol, who was not only demeaning, and apathetic but has the customer service ability of a dirty diaper. Sadly enough, she is the Manager or Owner!! As the highest on payroll she deserves a severe demotion and someone else needs to run that place. The only thing this place has going for it is its location and proximity to downtown. That and theres a young man who works there named TJ who is the diamond in the rough at that place. He works mostly outside, in the heat, helping to return and clean out the Uhauls. Our interaction with him was the only positive experience we can glean from patronizing with this Uhaul. He deserves a raise and a promotion for maintaining a positive attitude, being helpful, dilligent, willing to go above and beyond for the customer, all amidst clearly poor conditions and management that he has to work with. I hope his spirit doesnt get broken by the terrible attitudes of his colleagues and I hope UHAUL as a company regonizes his hard work and enacts stricter guidelines for the rude "managment" and "Customer service" agent you all have employed there.
