I was given the rental truck with barely a quarter tank of gas in it and advised that I needed to return it with at least a quarter tank of gas otherwise I would be subject to fines over and above the ~$1.60 per liter of gas that U-Haul charges customers. I had planned on refueling prior to returning the vehicle anyway, but I felt it unfair that I didn't have the option of paying the U-Haul refueling rate (without additional penalty fee) due to the fuel level at the time I received the rental. This is relatively minor and did not ruin my overall experience.Adam T.

The facility is clean and has an area for recycling furniture which is great for the environment. The only thing I would have to say is that the price to space ratio is a little high. Also, I thought we would be reimbursed for the time we did not use the unit but has paid for. We closed it 7 days earlier and received no credit which other storage facilities do provide. I received a very unprofessional call from Uhail Milton saying that I was late returning the truck although I rented it for 24 hour and received the phone call on the 11th hour. I still can apprehend that this person was from Uhaul unless someone from the staff gave my phone number to the person that wanted to rent the truck after me and might have been that person. Inconsistent pricing in regards to safe trip plans safe move. Sometimes you get charged, sometimes you don't whenever I try to add both coverages. Maybe a system glitch. Also, the truck seemed cleaned inside initially, until I saw a used mask on the corner dash. So disgusting. Also there was a hidden Pepsi bottle that slid underneath me close to the pedals when I came to a stop. This is the worst location I've ever rented from. And that goes to the agent that was working with me. I had reserved a 20' truck from this location for my move. On the day of, I called and let them know that I'll be running late. I spoke with Noah on the phone. He said it's ok if I'm a little late. When I got to pick up the truck finally, I was told by him that they didn't rent any trucks available. On the phone, he didn't mention that there was no truck available. His attitude was non-caring and nonchalant, to say the least. It clearly showed that he didn't care what I would have to endure. He just gave me a bunch of reasons that were the dumbest I had heard. He said they were overbooked and then said people were late returning the trucks and then said they were overbooked because people were late returning them. There was no sense of remorse in this guy. Not only that, he didn't even offer me an alternative, until I asked him what he had. And even then, he said they didn't have anything when I clearly saw vans standing outside. Then one of the other reps said we have vans and only then he offered me a van. I had to take it because, at this point, I was desperate. I had to pay the movers $250 because of the multiple trips I had to make to the house. I had to ask friends for their cars so I could put my stuff in there. We didn't even finish moving till past midnight. I'd NEVER recommended this location to anyone ever! I'd have to think twice to even recommend uHaul to anyone either. I know my feedback will fall on deaf ears but this is the only way I could vent.RIAZA M.

I am very disappointed with the over all experience, Staff is very professional and helpful but over all booking or computer system is very poor. I wasted 2 hours on May 24th to add an additional storage space, I was told to find an empty unit anywhere so staff could assin to me, I found a unit with help of your staff, and it was done in correctly. Units assigned to me by your staff with my locks and 2 units were locked by your system by non payment. I am not happy with what I experienced on my last visit to this location on Saturday, May 29th, 2021. I made a reservation for 20ft truck and was given 15ft with the promise that $50 will be refunded to me as compensation for gas. The old manat the counter in the store who picked up the phone when I called could have some better customer service etiquette. When I rented the 6 x 12 trailer in the afternoon, the person who hooked up the trailer informed me that when I was finished with the trailer I should bring it back to the same position I picked it up and someone would unhook it from my vehicle. So j did just that and waited for someone to unhook it. Nobody came out so I called the front desk. The old man picked up the phone and I explained my situation. He told me that I was to come into the front desk first..I explained that I was told something different and he became rude and condescending and told me that someone would be out. . I want to make it clear that the 2 people that hooked up and unhooked the trailer were fantastic with their customer service...but the old man who answered the phone was not . Rental rate is $19.95 and I needed up paying $112.62 for a local drive of 37km. This is absolutely outrageous. The gentleman at the reception when I got the vehicle was sneaking into a tissue which he kept putting back in his pocket and sneezed on his hand while touching my driver license which is absolutely not acceptable in COVID-19 times. Online booking was a little bit difficult. I wasn't able to figure out why it wouldn't let me book for multiple days. I had to call customer service to complete my booking. I think the online booking can be made more user friendly. The ability change the booking information after the confirmation was a lot more smoother online. The android application did not perform the mobile checkin in. I had to get it done using the Chrome browser that work. When I completed checkin using the Chrome browser, I was asked to go around the U haul warehouse and wait for a associate in the counter to give me the keys for the truck. Previously when I used U haul at Scarborough, there was a more intelligent way of getting the keys. When I went to the counter, I was again forwarded to the U haul associate who as at the u haul self return area who actually had the keys. I expressed that this quality of service is appaling to the associates at the uhaul desk in Milton and they were absolutely unapologetic and brushed it off. This costed me 1 hour of crunching the schedule of my moving elevator. The truck was not clean. Never was it ever wiped. I dont expect the truck to be clean, but I dont see it a must that I m mandated to clean truck when I got it dirty in the first place. When I take a moving truck from Home Depot, I get it tank filled. So it easy for me to fill the tank again because the pertol station auto cuts off at full. But with u haul I always have to end up giving more fuel that I used, because it favors you to give me a truck that is not even half filled. It is absolutely a waste of money for me and stress to fill it exactly to the way it was taken. It is also prone to parallelax errors.SANJAY S.

Everything about this location was great. Staff was lovely, helpful. Great, roomy, clean storage spaces (I had rented two different sizes during the year, both exactly as described) I appreciated the two separate loading docks, both indoors, which made moving things on rainy / snowy / cold days super easy and comfortable. Staff understood my needs due to a small disability and put me as close to the front doors as possible. SO much better than the current storage facility I'm at. Because of our need to relocate both our home & business, we have experienced a number of storage companies; Public Storage, U-Haul, Apple/Access & SmartStop. The last 3 had indoor climate controlled units. Apple/Access were just not clean. U-Haul was far better, but did not have the size required (10x30) when we need to rent. SmartStop was the best. Your bay doors are the best. The lights really aid to the safety and provide excellent information regarding when to enter or leave. The facilities at Lawson & those of SmartStop are superior because they were built for that specific need. Apple/Access have adapted warehouses to meet their needs; which in my opinion, just did not work as well as yours. My experience at This particular location was disgraceful. I have booked a size 20 truck 2 weeks prior only to get there on the day and was offered a size 10 truck. Naturally I was angry but what got me really upset was the guy at the front desk. He could not even apologize, instead he told me to go call 1800 Uhaul and register my displeasure with them or not take the size 10 at all. I was shocked at his response, he was very rude. Another lady came out and appears to be the manager, she said she didn't like my tone and decided to cancel the size 10 truck too anyway. She said she Uhaul does not rent to my type anyway. I was left with no truck that day and my whole day was ruined. I am a black man, and I genuinely believe I had my first direct racial abuse that day. Otherwise, what does she mean by "Uhaul does not rent to my type anyway". It was disgraceful. If my size 20 truck wasn't available, I understand these things happens and I expect the customer service person to apologize, atleast show a bit of empathy. I did an online rental(without going to the physical store) and the unit allotted was pretty much in the other corner of the entry point/elevator. I do notice that most units this size are empty as I walk to my unit. And the unit was not locked with a tag that could be broken as per the email. Rather it was locked. So I had to go all the way back to loading area, drive to the front office and then do it all over again. The unit and facility is pretty clean and the next visits were smooth. One issue we have had to do with the service elevator. The door closes way too fast, and the floor of the elevator, when stopped at a floor, rarely lines up with the floor of the level. This results in (1) difficulty in even getting into the elevator, and (2) a challenge getting the dollies/carts up and over the lip of the elevator. Also, the carts would be better if they had brakes on them, so as to not roll away when loading or unloading. Finally, the loading dock does not line up with the back hatch of the trucks (we were using one of your trucks), resulting in either a hazard getting in and out of the truck, or having to leave the truck well away from the dock, in order to have to fully extend the ramp. The storage facility was lovely and wonderful, however I would never rent a moving truck from them, ever. I reserved a 20 foot truck five weeks prior to my move, and was told 40 hours prior to the move, that there was only a 17 foot available, and I was not allowed to get a trailer (apparently they are not to leave the GTA.) Nothing like finding out two days before your move you will not be able to fit all of your personal effects. Storage unit was great.( after calling the destination Uhaul drop off - who could not understand why I wasn’t given what I’d booked- they called the Milton location and then a 20 footer showed up just in time.
