Make sure that the contract reflects what the customer reserved. I reserved a van for 25 hrs for $19.95. Before signing the contract, I noticed that I was being charged $41.95. The UHaul agent investigated, said she didn't know why I was being charged that and she changed it to what it should be. At 9:00 that night, I got a text msg stating that my rental was due at 11:00 that night. I was in bed exhausted. I opened the UHaul chat window, explained and it was changed to return the next morning, as it should have been. I just happened to hear the text alert and bothered to read it. If I hadn't I would have been in some sort of violation, I guess, and would have had to pay more. When I made the reservation, I was encouraged to choose a time-frame less than 24hrs but I needed 24hrs, even though I would not be driving the entire time. If I had not noticed the contract, I would have signed for something that I did not reserve. Why is the UHaul system doing this?

They were friendly but never told us they did not have the hand cart and dolly we rented along with the truck. It wasn't until we arrived that they told us. They stated there are was no such equipment available anywhere in Northeastern Florida. I then drove to UHAUL in Neptune Beach and they were able to provide us with the equipment. The folks in Neptune Beach had not heard of a shortage of equipment in Northeast Florida. Without the equipment we would have not been able to load the truck. I think it is pretty clear what happened here.

I would not recommend U-Haul at all at this point. The last 2 times I used them, they have changed my location. I didn't get the moving pads I was charged for and the person at this location was going to make me wait even longer than I already had to get them. When you're on a timeline to get things done, that's just not possible. I live 8 hours away and had to get storage units emptied and get back home, I can't wait around for every little thing. The truck itself was horrible and would jerk and bang trying to shift into the first gear. I was just praying I made it to my location without it breaking down. I will do whatever possible to never use U-Haul services again at this point.

The original reservation was booked at a closer location and I was given quite the run around when it came time to get the trailer. I needed to transport a Motorcycle and was told that the enclosed trailer would do the job which was incorrect.
The forst location on Blanding was not too helpful other than setting a new reservation at the tower lication.
And, worst of all they had 3 trailers on the lot that would have worked. Unfortunately they were not ‘designated” for 1 way rentals. A very bad policy that caused me to lose 2 extra hours of valuable time I needed to prepare for my trip. Additionally I had to argue with the customer service rep about the rate. They tried to charge me 5 times what I had booked.
At the final location Lexi was great. It just took way too much BS to get there.

I am writing to express my disappointment with a recent experience at your location. When I make a reservation for equipment, I expect that it will be available as promised. Unfortunately, while the truck I reserved was ready, the moving dolly I had also reserved in advance was not available.
This was a significant inconvenience, as a dolly is essential when moving heavy furniture and appliances. What made the situation more frustrating was the lack of concern or empathy from the staff. Instead of offering a meaningful solution, I was given excuses and eventually offered only a $10 discount, which was presented as the maximum they could do. Considering that I made this reservation 10 days in advance, I had every reason to believe the equipment would be ready and available.
Ultimately, I was able to complete my move with the help of a friend, but it was much more difficult without the dolly I had reserved. The overall lack of accountability and customer care I experienced was very disappointing.
I am sharing this feedback in the hope that it helps improve your reservation process and customer service approach moving forward. Reliable equipment availability and empathetic staff responses are crucial for customers during stressful times like moving.

Pick-Up: Heavy Set white gut with glasses at the counter had poor attitude and very confrontational wont go back to that location for any service due to that. I came in smiling and greeting him and asking how his day going. i was a friendly customer. from the moment i asked my first question he was very rude. Very tense situation did not feel comfortable even going along with transaction. if there was not an urgent need to rent at that exact moment i would have left and found another location to rent from.

the u haul employees i delt with were friendly and professional, and who handled the transactions of pick up and drop off with skill and assurance. the facilities were neat in appearance and easy to navigate around. the equipment was in excellent condition and performed flawlessly for the time i used it. if i had a negative to mention, it would be that the ramp for loading a motorcycle was a bit short and created a safety condition where the center of the motorcycle was too high off the ground for the riders legs to reach the ground when the front tire was on the trailer and the back tire was still on the ground. the rider needs to have physical contact with a solid surface for balancing the bike during loading and especially unloading. this was not so much of an issue if the bike was ridden up the ramp fast enough to not need walking it up the ramp, but backing off the trailer was the critical point of needing to keep the riders feet in contact with the surface to prevent the bike from falling over and maybe causing injury to the rider. even with two people. i solved this by having a couple of aluminum ramps approximately twice the length of the trailer ramp and long enough to bridge the ramp and provide a surface for the riders feet to support the machine during decent. that heart stopping moment is eliminated! 900lbs of motorcycle undamaged, as well as the rider. this makes it a one person operation even though 2 people makes it safer. in conclusion, the ramp is fairly heavy, so making it longer may create another problem. maybe change to aluminum, just for the ramp.

I used the online booking system. My reservation got changed to a different location. The equipment was unavailable at the time I specified, which meant I had to drive out to the location twice. I didn't get the vehicle that I asked for and instead had to rent a larger vehicle I was not comfortable driving. It was an extremely botched experience, as I had planned on a certain timeline. Changing location meant spending more money on mileage. The gal working the front counter was very kind, and the situation was no fault of the employees.

During my 4.5 hour drive in the pouring rain the interior was leaking from above and both sides where the seatbelts attach to the cabin. Not just a drip here and there. Enough to get my seat of my pants wet and a continual drip on my head. I am upset because when I called this morning. After arriving at my destination, the person at customer service didn’t even apologize. She offered to call roadside assistance. It was very heavy rain but we shouldn’t get wet inside the truck, we shouldn’t have to hold towels wrapped around ourselves and someone could at the very least offer an apology. No one asked where the leak was, if I had pictures, they offered to call roadside assistance after I was done using the truck. Im disappointed in the service I received when I called this morning

I'm in the military and not always available to access my unit. Shawnda and her staff have always been able to assist me with any questions and quickly resolve any issues over the phone or in person when needed. I rented a unit at U-Haul Company of Jacksonville (3435 Philips Hwy) and experienced a series of serious infractions that made my tenancy hostile and stressful. Here’s a summary of what occurred:
1. Fraudulent Billing Practices:
• U-Haul charged me duplicate fees for “24-hour access” and “gate clickers” despite restricting my access to 5:00 AM–10:00 PM since move-in.
• They imposed an unauthorized $10 “delivery acceptance fee” after withholding my package, even though photographic evidence showed staff holding the package minutes earlier.
• Despite initially agreeing to refund these charges, they later denied responsibility and demanded further documentation unnecessarily.
2. Retaliatory Surveillance:
• After I complained about staff trespassing into my unit on February 7, U-Haul installed a surveillance camera on a 10-foot post, directly targeting my unit and parking area.
• This camera served no legitimate security purpose as existing cameras already monitored the facility’s entry/exit gate. The placement was clearly retaliatory and intimidating.
3. Trespassing:
• On February 7, 2025, U-Haul staff unlawfully entered my unit without notice or authorization. Video evidence clearly shows this incident at approximately 12:04 PM, yet U-Haul denied the trespass entirely.
4. Disability Discrimination & Harassment:
• Their retaliatory surveillance and hostile environment exacerbated my disabilities (spinal degradation, insomnia), making it difficult to access my unit safely or comfortably.
• Staff members (including Nathan Carter) used personal vehicles to surveil me further, creating an even more hostile environment.
5. Unlawful Eviction Timeline:
• Initially demanded I vacate by March 6 with only 7 days’ notice—violating Florida law (§83.57(3), Fla. Stat) requiring at least 15 days’ notice for month-to-month tenancies.
Despite moving out on March 17, 2025, U-Haul failed to refund all overcharges or address their misconduct adequately. Their actions were retaliatory, deceptive, and in violation of basic tenant rights.

My lock was drilled out left in the inside of my unit I had to purchase another lock because the keys I had didn’t work because my lock was a BRINKS and they replaced it a UHAUL lock it was drilled open because of a leak or water damage to the unit nothing was damaged or destroyed but they could’ve reimbursed for the lock and calling a lock smith to get there lock off that was installed by uhaul very unprofessional 🤦🏽♂️🤬

Please validate the actual fuel in the vehicle with the ensuing contract. When I picked up the vehicle and the contract showed a full tank. In my mind the needle was closer to the 3/4 than full. When I took the truck back full, it was confirmed when the need was completely on the F for Full marker.

I had reservations for a pickup of a 10 foot truck on the 17th of this month. When I got to the location, at noon, 9119 Merrill Rd, it was closed. This really interfered with my plans and had cost me extra money. Because of this, I will no longer do business with Uhaul.

The inherently brutal structure of having storage units on the 2nd floor is a true marvel to the failings free market capitalism offers. No part of this experience is worth the price you are going to pay, because they are benefiting off the misfortune requiring you to use a storage unit. This is not a service; it is a shakedown of people in difficult situations. Uhaul’s ability to charge exorbitant rent for a nightmare box without AC needs to be studied and rectified by economic policy/law.
TLDR: Charge less. You’re making your market (and consumer’s lives) much worse for the absolute bare minimum garbage service you provide.

First of all, I was called when I was 10 minutes late. I was stuck in traffic. I assured them we were on the way. When we arrived, our truck had been given away. Then, we were not given the extra items that were supposed to be in the truck, but we were billed for them anyway. Definitely will not be referring this location, maybe not even Uhaul.

The U-haul app was very difficult to use and provided much frustration. Too many steps and the verification to the nth degree turned what could have been a 3 minute process with a sales clerk into a half-hour slog. The app also gave me the wrong code and thankfully the customer service representative we called was able to provide us the correct code.

I was charged incorrectly. I rented the truck out at 2:10p on Friday 8/30 and brought the truck back at 1:33pm 8/31. The rep charged me an extra day and extra equipment. She did not process the return until late. I asked for confirmation and all she kept telling me was I’d get an email. But I shouldn’t be penalized for her mistake. The truck was returned within my allotted time frame. I was charged $40 extra when I should have been getting a refund.

One of the first person I help me at the U-haul was Danielle. She worked in the office as your first contact. She is now a manager, one of her U-haul is on Emmerson and Phillips Hwy. Danielle is such a wonderful manager, and she really makes sure if there is anything you need, it is taken care of.

Although the storage facility was very clean and well maintained, however I was still charged after I moved out. I called and was assured that I would be refunded. I had separate issue with Uhaul charging me for miles even though I was under the miles when I returned the truck. I asked that correspondence be via telephone I received a snooty email instead that wasn’t even signed and when I responded back I never received a reply. You can have the cleanest facility in the world but when you’re over charging customers and your staff are unprofessional that is unacceptable. Do better Uhaul!!

I used the unit for all of 2 weeks. In that 2 week period, 3 times the elevator had problems and didn't work. The last time was while moving out. My roommate got stuck on the elevator and fire department had to get her out. But we ended up being forced to leave the rest of our furniture as we were leaving the state that night and had no way to get the stuff without a working elevator. I moved out mid March and closed it all out with customer service. Now I'm still getting hassled for payment and late fees. Will NEVER USE U-HAUL AGAIN.

The lighting in both units I had for years never was resolved. In the past two years I did not feel SAFE AT ALL. The office hours of operation changed and started closing at 5pm instead of 7pm, And this was huge for me because I did not pay for 24 hour access! It has been extremely difficult to get access to anybody in the office, even with the new changed hours, and I was sick of it. I’ve seen people running a business out of their unit, but never said anything. Obvious drug deals taking place on the inside, and people sleeping in a storage. I do care about our homeless population, but this location has failed with safety and not being available during times posted on the door!. This is a violation of false advertisement. I will never rent with U-Haul storage again after this experience, And I feel I should’ve been compensated for never having lighting in my units for several years when they claimed there was an outage.

We’ve noticed in the last year or so that the upkeep has not been the same. We always had to search for a cart and sometimes would not find one. The elevator buttons are missing. We had to use a key or pen to push the button. We have never liked how we have to get out of our car to use the code to open the gate. And we did not want to pay more for a remote to keep up with. We never saw any employees except for the day we cleaned our storage unit out. A guy with a cart was sure to tell us we could not leave a broken frame. We knew that, we had to set it down to bring our cart full down and get a broom.

In the beginning there were flat bed carts to help move items. Several were available in the immediate area. Today, I spend 5-10 minutes hunting for one and usually cannot find one. I en up taking my own dolly. Office staff said they were all stolen or broken with no time frame to replace. Not a great ending.

Storage Unit I reserved wasn’t available. I had reserved a first floor none climate controlled unit only to find out after driving in from out of state that it wasn’t available. I was told they only had a climate controlled unit which was obviously more expensive. The climate controlled unit wasn’t really necessary for me but I really had no choice at that point. I appreciate that they give you the first month free but with all the issues with truck rental followed by the storage unit I reserved being unavailable I wouldn’t recommend u-haul to anyone.

Staff is great...however, ratings inlclude conveniencey of facilities. It would be nice to be able to back the truck up to align with the outside storage for onloading/offloading. Instead it inconvenient others who may be trying to get to their storage.

They were nice. But directions were not given properly. I circled the place several times . Had to go back to the office to ask again. Eventually found it. The facility was ran down smelt like cigarettes. Found my storage unit. And it was infested with roaches. Disgusting.

We found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful in general. Over the years we limited our interactions because it usually led to disappointment. However, the lady working on Sunday when we checked out was especially rude and condescending. We are thankful to never have to go there again.

The storage facility in general was above average based on other storage units I've rented. And the office personnel were extremely professional and efficient. However, I would've liked more office hours, at least Mon -Sat. 9am to 5pm, primarily because of problems with entrance code.

The African-American woman that helped us that day went above and beyond our expectations. She unhooked the trailer for us so we could unload the Uhaul. She then helped hook it back up after we finished unloading. Then when I asked her to drive the vehicle and trailer to get it out of the facility…she did so willingly. She was so helpful. I hope you give her a raise…because she is an amazing employee for Uhaul. Thank you so much.

Roach infestation management was aware of not communicated to me, I called them and spent over an hour on the phone and after 3 calls finally heard from gm. Cube smart is a better option, employees on sight that walk the halls every day

When I called the 800 number I was told that the parking space I reserved was enough room for 2 trucks. I then called the main office and spoke with a woman and she also confirmed the space was large enough for 2 trucks. When my drivers arrived the parking lot was crowded and difficult to maneuver and the space was barely enough to fit 1 truck. I called the main office again and was told the dimensions are misleading and the lot it too tight and they should really update their information. The reservation was cancelled and we were promised a refund.

All of the above are great but if I leave in the middle of a rental you don’t offer a prorated refund even though you can immediately rent that unit.
I have a problem with this policy and perhaps you might rethink your policy.
